I just got back from the private consultation witch I had in Sofia with Dr. Zarev!

I am truly impressed with the consultation and with the professionalism of the surgeon.

The good news for me is that after 2 HT I still have hope because Dr. Zarev can get 11k graft from my donor.

The bad news is that I need more money for that and I have to wait for the surgery because of the waiting list.

Dr. Zarev is for sure a living legend!

Hi @mandark86, how did you get a consultation with Dr. Z? When is your surgery day? How long is the waiting list for consultation and the surgery? I apologize for all the questions and I hope Im not derailing mtb's post. I'm just curious about what to expect with Dr. Z schedule nowadays.

  2. Looks promising @Timothyand considering you’re still on the 5th month mark. What I noticed that is common in this forum is by 6 month onwards, you will see the significant growth. I’m seeing that the beard hair has blended well with your native hair. Im already excited for the update next month 😆

Thank you for the update and photos @Timothy! By the way, how’s the donor area? Can you post photos if you don’t mind, thank you again!

  3. This just shows Dr. Zarev’s consistency which proves he’s good in distributing grafts on high NW… respect.
Thank you @HugoXand @mtbfor sharing your experiences, it’s really helpful for this community since you both are the only reviews we have for Dr. Z at this time. I hope this will just be the start though and more reviews will be posted in the future because of @HugoX‘s initiative. 👏🏼0F51E840-1A0E-4CE8-B0F0-E30210080368.thumb.jpeg.d55b1d038fbcd82e7eab831ba3f51844.jpeg

I mean Eugenix and Pitella are the ones that come to mind if you’re a slick bald NW6 and don’t want FUT. Others on this forum might have helpful suggestions. My bro is going to Pitella in a few months.

It would be interesting to compare your result by Dr. Z and your brother's by Dr. P. They are the best doctors for high NW and of course Eugenix as well.

Is he on this forum? Is he planning to post his result once he gets his procedure done by Dr. P?

Yeah his rooms will be done by the time you go for procedure. Also, there are some nice little hotels within walking distance as well. No idea if there will be a cheaper option in the future. I think the only way that happens is if there is massive competition in the market and at this point there are only a couple other clinics that can do high norwood FUE only. I was quoted at 4 euro per graft and he honored that.

Em is a norwood 1 so I think he's going to be okay for many years. ha.

Thank you for the reply @mtb, that's great that you still got his old pricing. I wouldn't be surprised if he honors that price even if he does the surgery two years after consultation. As what @HugoXmentioned in his thread that Dr. Z did not even charge him the extra 1k grafts that he was able to extract from him. That just shows he's an honorable  doctor. I'm also glad that there's a price protection where you get charged the rate that was advertised on the day of your consultation. The way things are right now, he might increase his price in the future due to the law of supply and demand plus the option to stay in his clinic/hospital.

I will be following your thread @mtband hoping for your abundant hair growth in the future. Keep us updated 🙂

I had the procedure at his new clinic. It is very modern and nice. Built specifically as a hair transplant clinic. His hotel room onsite won't be ready for a few months apparently.

He does everything himself in the procedure. He marks you everywhere, washes your head, takes a lots of pictures, cuts your hair to the appropriate length, administers anesthetic, administers PRP, makes every extraction, does every implantation.

He has nurses that do the counting and sorting of grafts. Also his nurses load and hand him the implanter pens. He also has a nurse who does a blood draw for PRP.

I'm sure there are great techs in the industry but that wasn't a risk I wanted to take. I wouldn't know any of the techs, how long they had worked there, how good they were, etc. Felt more comfortable having Dr. Zarev do everything. I paid a lot more than a place that has techs do everything but for me it made sense. I only had one shot at this as a super high Norwood.

@mtbThanks for the confirmation. @HugoXmentioned that when he had his procedure, it was still in the old clinic/hospital and that there might be an option to stay in the new place. Its good to know that he moved to the new place already and that there will be a hotel or option to stay in the new place. Im also glad that he still does every step of the procedure. You mentioned earlier that he is looking into training new doctors with his machine, that probably will open up more schedule and also have a lower price option? I know Dr. Pitella has that lower price option when he does not do all the procedure himself. Me personally, I hope Dr. Z still does all the procedure when I get a chance to have the HT. Like you said, you only had one shot, or one opportunity to seize the... oops I'm already qouting Em 😆

Did he still charge 5 euro per graft? Since you had the consultation two years ago, I was wondering if you still got the old price which is 4 Euro per graft like Hugo got? If so, did he honor the old price even if you had the surgery 2 years after the consultation?

Thank you @mtb for the reply.

Did you have the surgery done in his new clinic/hospital? If so, was there an option to stay in his new place?

Did he still do all the procedure by himself like the extraction and implantation and everything else in between like he did with Hugo or did some nurses or technicians fill in to do some work?

How much did he charge you per graft?

Yeah, it's tough to wait so long. I think Dr. Zarev is one of the very best but there are other clinics that provide great results and can get you in sooner. My brother is going to a different clinic specializing in high Norwood because he doesn't want to wait until 2025. However, Dr. Zarev plans on training new surgeons in his techniques and equipment in the next few years.

Care to elaborate which clinics provide great results who can get a patient sooner? Which clinic that specializes in high NW is your brother going to?

Thanks Gatsby. You're documentation of your journey has been very helpful for me and for many others on this forum. Thank you for your contributions.

Yeah man, the level of detail is excruciating but Dr. Zarev really seems like he's having the best time doing it.

I'd say to be consistent in your messaging with them. They have more office staff now so that should be getting better.

You caught me. I'm actually Romanian bot designed to spam this server. Busted. 😆

This is the only bot I knew who had a hair transplant, bots nowadays have gone a long ways and improved a lot just to spam this forum lol

  10. @HairOnMyHeadman that was a very detailed review. From the advice on the SIM card to the way from your hotel to dr. K’s clinic and the operation itself, I couldn’t ask for a more detailed review than this. Thank you for taking time and  sharing your experience here in HRF. We appreciate you and I hope for a fast recovery and healthy hair growing in the next couple of months!

Hello everyone! hope you all are doing great, staying happy and enjoying your day.

Thanks to everyone who shares their input here as HRN really is a great community with a lot of educated caring people who help and inspire many, including myself, I follow a lot of your Journey's which keeps me sane in these growing months waiting it out.

Today marks the 4 month mark, I started to see growth a few weeks back and it seems to be getting more and more daily IMHO, I will just put up the pics that were all taken today.

I have stopped shaving my head now and will just let it grow, it's been just over 2 weeks since my lasts #2 shave/cut.

I also wanted to say I am not on any meds, just the vitamins that were provided for me, and a daily spray with  Saw palmetto and some avocado oil for the donor area.

Please feel free to comment and let me know what you think. your opinions keep me sane in this growing time, Especially the feedback from the members who have knowledge in this process. Thank you all I appreciate it, Take care.

I hope these photos suffice, they are taken with my phone with me under pot lights if that make a difference. Also I do have Avocado oil in my donnor as it was applied an hour or so ago. Thanks again have a great day!!

Wow it’s coming up nicely Tim! It’s just the fourth month and your hair is already filling up the spaces. I also think the beard is blending well with the hair as well as they all look like they’re the same already. I’m happy for you Tim! Thank you for the update.

I think we need to induct @HugoX into the forum’s hall of fame. Like if you agree.

I second this. The way how booked Dr. Zarev is just means that he has plenty of patients. Out of those patients, only Hugo took his time to give us review of his experiences, answer questions and gave us a glimpse on what to expect and showed us the outcome of an adept surgeon. I mean if he didn’t even post here, we would have still been wondering and looking for a first hand account testimony of Dr. Zarev’s patients.

I saw a post of another patient about his experience but it was on another forum. In the comments section, he was asked to post here but declined. His case is different though as he is not as high Norwood as Hugo.

We are lucky that Hugo posted his detailed first hand account as his case was more complicated. The only results we have seen by Dr. Z is from his youtube and IG account but those are just before and after. With Hugo’s post, he filled in the “in between” of that before and after and that my friends should qualify him for the forum’s hall of fame 👏🏼

it’s a tough pill to swallow.. this is why a lot of people end up at hair mills because people get desperate about their hair situation and the hair mills can get you booked in for a HT yesterday lol 🙈🙈

The last part of your comment made me laugh about able to book in for a HT yesterday 😆

Its funny only because its true. Sadly this is the reality though, good surgeons are booked for years that mediocre surgeons take advantage of unknowledgeable or impatient patients.

I am glad I found this forum and thankful to the moderators like @Melvin- Moderatorfor keeping this site updated and fair to arm the follicly challenged people with the right knowledge and guidance in what to do and to choose the right doctors. Im also thankful to the people who posts their results like @HugoXto give guidance and advice to people who are in the fence or plan to have a HT.

One thing I have learned from reading on this forum that seems to be the consensus and the advise that is being kept repeated is "To choose the best surgeon for your case, wait and save while waiting."

HT is a game of patience and Good things come to those who wait.

I was probably lucky and managed to email Dr Zarev at a perfect time, I just filled in the inquiry form at his website and got a reply pretty fast. If you have tried WhatsApp (didn't know it was available) and email and still not getting any reply unfortunately not much to do, maybe try calling his office, might get lucky.

For your second question, I can't say for sure how exactly it was divided, Dr Zarev had made an exact and thorough plan before surgery and placement varied from approximately 25 grafts/cm2 to 35 grafts/cm. And he did 7070 grafts the first time, not 6k (while extracting he could see that he could get more and he saw good reaction from my skin/scalp).

Thank you @HugoX. I like his approach of distributing the grafts evenly over your head. Most of the doctors I have inquired would suggest front and mid scalp only then come back for a second session in 8 or so months to do the crown. You have a good surgeon and results too. You look great with a full set of crown, congrats!
