  1. Hi Guys,

Hope you find well this message,

So, I'm taking finasteride 2 times per weak (1 pill after two days).

And I want to start a new treatment with minoxidil, because I have diffuse tining in my lateral sides.

So, I had an appointment with a dermatologist to prescribe me oral Minoxidil.

And we advice me to star with 2.5 daily and he gave me the prescription for that, in capsule.

My question is, how should I start?

Taken every day, as the doctor said?

Or there's a way to optimize the effects of the drug?

    Appreciate

I'm 28 years old. I will have 29 at the end of this year.

Well, I noticed to have sexual side effects. I mean I don't have a girlfriend but I know...

Well that's sad, I may stop and try to start finasteride little by little, starting with microdosing. Poor genetics. Is a good idea using bear?

Is even worse this days, more and more people want to look good. And let's be honest more difficult to find someone...

On meds and looks like a great donor area, yeh you are a good candidate imo. Are you still looking at the Portugal Drs? Did you get as far as the consultations with any of them?

I will have my first appointment with Dr.Bruno Pinto in April, next year.

Don't mind to wait!! But waiting and having no hair transplant would make me feel like sh*t to be honest.

I sent the above pictures and the information that I started finasteride since September and that now I'm at 2x week and I received this information:

"In a first analysis, Dr. Bruno notes that he has a diffuse pattern alopecia that appears to also affect the donor area. He is not a candidate for a transplant under these conditions.

Taking all this into consideration, Dr. Bruno advises to consult with a dermatologist to start the most appropriate medical treatment for his case (Oral Minoxidil, Dutasteride, or Finasteride) and to come for an in-person evaluation after at least 1 year of treatment to assess the result and verify if he is a candidate for a transplant. Without prior medical treatment, the doctor will not consider him suitable for a transplant."

To be honest I'm a little scare

    @Alex94gasp,

Personally, I think you should speak with your surgeon and get their opinion regarding proceeding with your hair transplant. In my opinion, there are many individuals who are still good candidates for hair transplantation, even if finasteride isn’t working well for them for one reason or another. Finasteride is pretty good at slowing down or even stopping the progression of male pattern baldness.  But some people simply can’t use it because he doesn’t work for them or it produces serious side effects that just aren’t worth it.

Now, based on your pictures and the information you’ve shared, you have pretty aggressive looking hair loss and you are only 28 years old. As a result, I suspect you will likely lose a lot more hair without nonsurgical treatments.  That said, depending on your donor area and how much you have available over the course of your lifetime, you still should be able to proceed with surgery if you go to the conservative route.  In other words, if your surgeon re-creates a conservative looking hairline with just enough density to create cosmetic improvement and then goes back and blend into your existing hair, that would be a good start.

You will likely have to go back for additional work as you lose more natural hair so it’s important that you and your surgeon leaves plenty of donor hair in reserve for future and subsequent procedures.

Now, given your circumstances, I do think it would be worth it to perhaps try some other non-surgical solutions, such as topical finasteride.  You can then I’ve that in conjunction with minoxidil.  Of course, you could also consider continuing oral finasteride, but just reduce your dose and see if that ends up working for you without side effects.

So I don’t think hair transplant surgery should be ruled out for you, but I do think you need to work with your surgeon and proceed with caution.   This includes keeping plenty of donor hair in reserve for subsequent procedures as necessary.

    I hope this helps.

Well I have a thick hair in the back, I believe that's good. I'm thinking to do a experience and try 0.5MG every day. May be I don't tolerate 1MG.... Meanwhile in the sides I don't think I have a higher donor, only in the back. Let's see what the doctor says

  5. I started again with 2 times per week. Monday and thursday. (1MG)

I dicide to postpone my hair transplant for next year. And see how I react with this medication.

To be honest I'm more than happy if I stay like that.

How many grafts should it be needed?

Unfortunately you are among those unlucky guys who experience side effects of Finasteride.

Try to reduce the dosage and check.

Why are you not trying Minoxidil?

I used topical for 6/7 years, daily. But I stopped 2 years ago.

Maybe I will start oral Minoxidil!

  7. Hi Guys,

Hope you find well this message,

Just want to know your advice regarding Finasteride.

It's been a while I'm using it, almost an year. Since August. I started with Finasteride 1MG/daily for a month and I noticed immediately side effects. But I had huge side effects regarding sexual performance, the were nonexistent...

I stopped for a month and started with 3MG/weekly and it was better. But recently, a few days ago I was with a girl and I had some difficulty being with here. Now with that in mind, I'm thinking to reduce even more, and may be start with 0.5, every other day.

My problem is that my hair transplant is in a month or two...

What should I do? Try to postpone the surgery? And try this dose before the hair transplant? I waited almost an year to do...

But I'm afraid to lose more hair, because I don't no if is stable.

    I would appreciate some advices

    Kind regards

    Alexandre
