    Hi Melvin ,

Did it use to be prescription ? What is the process ? Just sign up and purchase ?

Basically. The 3 options are $1200, $2500, $3000 respectively. Good lord that is pricey. I wonder if anyone has any before/after pictures

I have personally corresponded with Dr. Nader through email and would say he was extremely polite and professional just through email.

We basically went through the consultation process during those emails and all that was really left was for him to have a look at my head and perform the procedure.

He even gave me his personal cell number (which I never used) and told me to contact him any time if I have any more questions.

I ended up not going with him after deciding that I wanted FUT prior to having FUE. I have no regrets with who I chose as my doctor but just based on my correspondence with him and judging by the patient reviews on this website you would be in excellent hands with Dr. Nader.

on a side note @Melvin- Moderator, I would vote yes on Nader for a recommendation on this forum.

I don’t know if any other doctors other than the Cortez brothers in Tijuana but there are reviews scattered across YouTube for them and I have yet to see one where anybody was underwhelmed once they completed their HT journey.

Why did you opt for FUT out of curisoity? Thanks

I use laser cap, it’s definitely been working for me, it uses actual lasers, most caps use LEDs.

Is their a link to the specific product you use? Or a model number or any other identifying details that I could share with my dermatologist? I'm assuming this is one that is by prescription only?

    Thanks for your response

  4. Hi all, hopefully this is the right sub for this topic.

I recently started Min and am planning to do a HT in November. I don't want to take Fin, but am curious about Laser Cap therapy.

In a consult I had with a well established Dr, his assistant mentioned that the Capillus was basically just a Chinese knockoff that doesn't work. He recommended their prescription only option. The problem is the prescription option is $2500 and the Capillus is like $900 I think. So, 2 questions

    1. Do either of these things really work?

    2. Is the prescription option worth the extra money?

    Thanks!

  5. Hey all,

Has anyone regretted or heard of someone regretting using Minoxidil because they came out months after starting it in worse condition than when they begin? Essentially they got hit with the full effects of the shed phase but none of the expected regrowth?

I'm going in for a hair transplant before the end of the year and am considering using Min (Along with laser cap and possibly derma rolling) but am concerned with the dreaded Minox shed phase.Started using Min 2 days ago and already may be noticing some shedding (Or maybe imagining hard to say).```

    Thanks

You require 4000 grafts maximum for your transplantation procedure. 2000 grafts in the frontal zone and 1500 to 2000 grafts in the crown. Without finasteride you will require another transplantation in the future. You can use topical finasteride if you are worried about the side  effects. Topical finasteride has 0.01% chances of giving side effects. If you are still weary of topical finasteride too then maybe skip it also.

In that case when your new areas get empty, you can go for additional hair transplants or you can get SMP if you would be comfortable keeping your head shaved.

If you take oral finasteride then your baldness will completely be prevented from progressing and you will not require another transplant. But the choice is entirely yours.

Thank you. Is the oral Finasteride more effective than topical?

Also, am I wrong or can SMP be used to "camouflage" areas where you've had hair transplanted that maybe isn't super thick? Like do you really have to keep your hair short for SMP or can you use it to hide areas with longish hair?

I think you're taking a massive leap of faith by implying a cheap clinic will give you the result you want, or a great result even, which would allow you to forgo fin/min etc.

It's the biggest risk, infinitely more risky than medication. Not saying you MUST go to Dr. Konior and the like but let's not kid ourselves here.

Also, everyone's donor looks thick when it's 1+inch long. Can it handle 6k grafts? Let's see a better picture.

Thanks for the response. Dr Nader is pretty well recognized so I think even though his prices are cheaper than a US clinic he's still produced very good quality as reported by many on here. If you know of any other reputable Dr's in Mexico please share those if you could be so kind.

I will try to get a better picture of my donor area, back of your head is a difficult area to get a clear picture of. But trust me I've always had very thick luscious hair so I imagine there are a good bit of double, triple, quadruple back there.

Hopefully this is the right sub-forum for this type of question. YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE.

I'm 33.5 years old with balding on the crown and a receding hairline. I also have a pretty thick donor area. (Pic attached). I am hoping to get in for a transplant with Dr Nader in the next few months.

My question is this: I really don't want to go on Fin/Min. Mainly because of the side effects, WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE YOU CONCERNED ABOUT?

hassle...THERE IS NO HASSLE WITH TAKING A PILL.  TAKING A PILL AND WALKING OUT THE DOOR IS A LOT EASIER THAN USING ROGAINE WHICH IS MORE LABOR INTENSIVE, PARTICULARLY FOR THOSE WHO USE IT TWICE A DAY.

cost....COSTCO ON-LINE CHARGES $26 FOR THE WHOLE YEAR.

What I would like to discuss is peoples thoughts (And personal stories) on avoiding Fin/Min after a first transplant and just planning to get a 2nd done later on with perhaps some Micro Pigmentation to add the appearance of thickness. It sounds like 6000 grafts is what's needed for a decent full head of hair, and with prices in Mexico/Turkey being lets say 1.35 per graft that's only $8100. I understand this wont return you to full native levels of thickness, but add in some Micro Pigmentation and it seems like you're good to go. No risk of side effects, and cheaper long term cost than a lifetime of Min/Fin but also without the daily hassle.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this plan?

THERE ARE OTHER MODALITIES OTHER THAN FIN YOU CAN DO TO HELP YOU RETAIN.  (MIN, PRP, LASER).  IF YOU PLAN ON NOT DOING ANYTHING, I WOULD AVOID TRANSPLANTS TO THE CROWN.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO RECOGNIZE, IF YOU'VE SHOWN THE PROPENSITY TO LOSE, YOU WILL CONTINUE LOSING.  YOUR CROWN SEEMS TO BE EXTENDING FORWARD. I THINK YOUR ENTIRE TOP IS AT RISK.  NOT DOING SOME TYPE OF MEDICAL REGIMEN IS JUST SILLY. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE THE TYPE OF DENSITY YOU HAVE BY DOING NOTHING.  KEEP IN MIND. THE DONOR IS LIMITE AND FINITE.

SMP WILL BE A GOOD ADJUNCT AND WILL BUY YOU TIME.

    Thanks for your response!

Side effects I'm concerned about: Loss of libido/sexual function and depression. I'm sure you're familiar with the horror stories out there, do you think these people are not being honest or do you think it's just a very small minority? I certainly don't claim everyone gets side effects - drugs interact differently on everyone. However their are a ton of other endocrine disruptors out there in our daily environments (Microplastics, agriculture pesticides) so adding something like Fin on top could potentially really hurt certain people.  Testosterone levels are already WAY below what they were on average in men 60 years ago and I tend to believe the thousands of people with Fin horror stories, even if it is a minority of cases.

I definitely plan on doing the Laser Cap therapy that you recommended in an earlier post. You recommended one that was only by prescription - just out of curiosity what makes this one better than the other ones you can buy over the counter? I think I may start doing Min also since basically no side effect risks. I'm worried about my cats because I know it's toxic to them but I guess I'll just be careful.

You say not to do the crown at all if I'm not doing any other things to help. Can't I just do a 2nd transplant to cover up whatever spots I continue to lose, assuming the donor area I have has enough? I have a thick beard I could use too I suppose.

Are you doing any type of medical therapy to help you with retention? You seem well demarcated, so I am guessing you are doing something.

Well receded corners, I gather you want to address that.  Based on the photos it seems you have donor availability.  The problem is, if you've shown the propensity to lose, you will continue losing.  How much? Who knows?  At times I wish I had a hair crystal ball.  Is there family history?

There is something to be said about the way people lose hair.  Hair in the front grows forward.  Hair in the mid-scalp grows forward and shingles.  This is why the front and top always look fuller.  But in the crown, we all share the whirl. It is the point from which the hair stems and grows outward from there.  Thus, if you draw a dot on the piece of paper, and draw an intersecting cross, (imagine that's the result of procedure 1).  Turn the paper ever so slightly and draw another cross.  How many crosses would you need to draw to fill the area? The crown is a sphere and can eat your donor.  Eventually, if you ever lose the front, you'll be asking "why did you put all my donor in the crown? When people look at me from the front, I still look bald."  Because of the fact it is the front you see when looking at yourself in the mirror, pls put more value to that area. So, when is the right time to do a crown? When you're happy with the front and you confirm the meds are working.

Just one more point.  Think of the crown as a circle.  You fill the circle with hair.  Because you've lost, you'll keep losing.  You go on to lose all the hair around the circle of hair.  You've left with a target - which will not look natural as no one loses the hair that way.  We call this chasing the pattern.  Eventually you have to keep using donor to natural.

Finasteride, Rogaine, PRP and Laser are the modalities we refer to when dealing with this condition.  Perhaps you should do all of them and see what happens in the crown.  Transplant the front.  A year later, based on the outcome you can decide if continuing the meds is worth the time and money spent.

Thanks for the reply. I'm currently not doing anything to help with retention other than using Ketocanozale shampoo once a week and taking biotin daily. I am considering starting laser therapy with one of those hats but I have't yet. I'm not interested in Fin due to the potential side effects and don't like Minox because it doesn't seem super effective and I don't like the idea of putting it in every day.

It is definitely pretty demarcated but I'm starting to thin in the area between the crown and the hairline. Still not super visible, and seems to not be shedding that much now compared to a few months ago when I was highly stressed.

Just to confirm, you're basically saying don't do anything with the crown and just focus on hairline for now? I would kind of like to do both at once, my hair loss doesn't seem to happen fast. I started losing at around 25 and this is where I am today.

    Thanks again for ur thoughts

  11. Hey all, just curious what you folks think about # of grafts needed to cover crown and restore hairline (Pics below). I've had one tele-consult so far and was quoted 1800-2000 grafts for the crown and 1200 for the hairline for a total of 3000-3200 grafts.

Also, any thoughts on whether FUT or FUE is better in my specific case? I've done research on both but it's hard to find which option seems best as it is specific to the context?

Final question: Does anyone know Dr. Naders price per graft? He is close to where I currently am so I'm hoping to book with him.

    Thanks!!!
