    1) Do people think there is a risk of an inferior result of doing the surgery without cutting my hair i.e. having to work around the hair I have already in place (all transplant hair at this stage)? People not noticing I have had it done is one thing, but ultimately I am doing this to look better so if there is a risk I won't after, I may bite the bullet and shave my head (or at least cut the hair short). What are people's opinion/experience with this?

Shaving gives the doctor the most optimal to work in. I think you can understand why. Sure it can be tried without shaven.

    2) What are the chances of shock loss with the transplanted hair in my hairline and mid-scalp?

Shock loss is a very real possibility.

    3) Anybody who can offer another strategy to minimise people knowing what has happened?

It will be impossible. You're getting thousands of holes punched in your head. Even after 6 weeks it will be noticeable, you'll be just entering the ugly duckling phase.

I am 35 years old and losing my hair around the crown area and my hair line is receding. Having a high hairline doesn't bother me but losing hair on the crown does.

I generally have bad side effects with most drugs and i don't like the idea of taking a pill for the rest of my life.

If I am not getting my hairline extended forwards is it sensible to have a hair transplant, just to fill in what I already have, without taking finasteride?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

You can always discontinue fin if you get sides.

Best case scenario you regrow some hair and slow MPD to a crawl/eliminate it.

Worse case scenario you get sides and stop using it.

I  cannot imagine how my life will look like without it cause I’m honestly starting to be afraid of summer due to the continuous sun shining and revealing my baldness.

Show us recent pics of the crown. Because if its anything close to the thread from 2021 well then you ain't bald lol. Not even close.

Take a look at some of the patient threads on here of actual legit NW 4,5,6 guys. You should stay on FIN and reevaluate in a few years. (IMO)

Hi Melvin, as stated in my post, I have received a much bigger partial refund after negotiation. I did not say I lost 10K. This is a warning to travelling patients that they can lose the whole surgery fee (10k++) if the clinic decides not to do the surgery, provided there is a clause in the contract that states the clinic can keep the invoiced full fee (mine has). My clinic could have easily decided to keep the money, point to the contract I signed and I would not be able to get a refund.

Even if you receive a full refund, there is still hotel booking, air ticket, and time gone to waste, which a local consultation can help to mitigate (if a report of the donor density analysis from the local clinic is sent to the overseas clinic).

This isn't so much a broad warning but a single anecdote involving one clinic.

It still boggles the mind why a clinic would ask you to sign an NDA when there was no surgery involved.

Understandably, they're worried about their reputation with regards to pocketing the $$ of the surgery while sending you home without surgery.

    Maybe rectify this policy?

I am getting a 3-day repair procedure in June. The clinic has offered that I can optionally come in the day after surgery and one of the techs can give me an inspection and wash my scalp. I do not believe the doctor will be available to inspect himself (I'm not 100% on that, but I assume he has another surgery to attend to and it will be a tech)

I do want to do this post-op cleaning, but it's another day of hotel expenses and, besides being at the clinic, being cooped up in my hotel room for the rest of the day.

Perhaps I am overthinking and overworrying about this, but I'm also thinking - the grafts are very fragile and unsecure 1 day post surgery. Is there a legitimate concern that - ironically - this post op cleaning could inadvertently knock out some grafts?

I really don't mind at all the additional time and expenses I would invest in this post op cleaning, if there is a benefit to getting cleaned by the clinic.

But I'm wondering if there is a risk of knocking out the grafts with this, and overall is getting this cleaning beneficial and worth adding an additional day to my trip?

Only you can decide if it's worth it.

If its any help, I plan on staying an additional 10 days abroad after my procedure to allow for proper healing and supervision of the HT.

Overkill? Perhaps, but thats my preference.

  6. Props to this clinic, not for turning him down "for his own good", but for writing such a predatory contract and convincing OP and others to sign it.

Most clinics I've researched book by a non refundable deposit. Paying everything up front with no guarantee of the procedure, just doesn't seem right.

I thought the EU was known for strong consumer protection? I guess cosmetic surgery does not fall in to this realm.

OP - can we please see what your donor looks like?

I have only one word for you : EASILY

Your donor is strong and you will be just fine .

Appreciate your input. It "appears" ok after a shower. A bit different when I wake up or after a long day, it looks choppy as my hair is very straight.

I worried how punching 3000 holes might affect that.

I guess I will know for sure when Dr. Arika does an examination.
