    Hello Duckling, Please find below the answers to your questions: 1) was the patient on medication prior to surgery ? because his hair were very thin. and is he on any medication now. The patient started oral finasteride 6 months before the surgery. Then, he continued using oral finasteride and he started using topical minoxidil, 2 months ago he switched to oral minoxidil. 2) did he request for upper vertex area to be covered ? because he seemed to have hair there ( with slightly thinning look yes) This was discussed with Dr Turan during the consultation, after the trichoscopical analysis, Dr Turan decided that there was space in between his native hair to increase density without risking any possible damage to his native hair.

    Hi Everyone, we would like to present below a case of a patient with a progression to Norwood Va. You can find below the details of the surgery. Patient Details Surgical Plan: Hairline reconstruction, density increase in the frontal and fronto-temporal, mid scalp and crown. The surgery was performed in two consecutive days with 4 sessions of extraction and implantation . The donor area of the patient was reduced in surface area due the affection of the lower crown, hence 633 graft were extracted from the beard and implanted in the mid scalp and crown. Patient´s age: 36 years old. Patient was using finasteride prior to the surgery and he added oral minoxidil in the last 6 months. Hair Thickness: 64 microns in the parietal areas and 70 microns in the occipital area.     Hello Rafael, Normally, ginger/red hair patients have less hair density but coarser hair. Their hair is also frizzier. However, in this particular case, the patient had thin hair. In a positive note, due to the less contrast of skin vs hair colour, the illusion of density is normally very good in patients with these hair characteristics.

    Hello Duckling, Also, it is important to note that by using medication prior to the surgery, the hair loss was stabilised which always gives the doctor the opportunity of being less conservative with the hairline design.
