  1. Thanks guys, I never imagined to get were I am this quickly.

Tried today with some fibers...lets just say that it looked like I have never lost hair. I don't know if you guys ever have tried (or similar), Volluma hair spray fiber, I did try Toppik like fibers... I thought this spray on fibers that are supposed to be wind and water resistance was easier to apply and gets better in between hair and scalp.

I will take some pictures another time with the fibers in.

@HugoXIf you do get a skin fade on the back and sides, please take pics and upload. Would be really interested in seeing how donor looks in that condition.

Hi, if you look at page 1 in this thread I did have a skin fade, but this was early and my donor had not recovered yet, but I was happy with the look anyway at that point. I am also ok with pushing the limit for my donor as I know Dr. Zarev will make it look homogeneous.

  3. Day 150 (5 months) update.

Hi guys, time for some update, ignore the lack of any hair style 😅, I will go for my first hair cut with a hair dresser two weeks from now, also my front is a bit shorter than the rest as the first 3-4 months a combed my hair forward and cut the bang, so first 1-2 cm hair is shorter than the hair behind it.

Also donor for me look untouched for 7k grafts 😳, feels like like another 3k should not be impossible.. Time will tell.

All pictures taken with flash, also added some close up pictures where I have wetned the hair.

And a reminder where I was before 😱

    🤙

@HugoX many thanks for sharing a perfect result! I do wonder though why we rarely if ever see more Norwood 6/7 patients posting their results on forums, YouTube, etc. Dr Zarev is incredibly talented and obviously seems to be the logical pick for higher Norwoods (which he has advertised extensively). I would have thought that logically there would be an outpouring of patients showing their transformation? Thanks again for sharing!

good question, I am not sure myself either, I know that Dr Zarev said that most of his clients are more "high profile" Bulgarian clients and I guess these type of people can’t be bothered to go around writing in forums, especially if they are happy with the result, I am definetly not a "high profile" person 😅.

But yes, not many doctors are good at Norwood 6/7, I had much less expectation about results before I saw Dr Zarevs work, after I saw what he can do, I got more hope of maybe returning close to good old days.

    Hey,

Thanks a lot for your testimony  @HugoX, I was looking for some informations about Dr Zarev, and your experience is well documented.

Insane result by the way. You can add 3K grafts and you're aesthetically cured.

Almost unbelievable considering where you come from.

Do you mind sharing how you've got in touch with the Dr ? Do you know how much time it would take to only get a consultation, according to your case ?

I'm looking forward for your next update.

    Hi,

    Thanks :)

I got in contact with him firstly through his webpage https://www.hairtransplantation.bg/index.php/en/ , then from the contact page. Then Dr Zarev wrote back to me, I think I must have been lucky to have got in touch at a time where he had some free time as it seems now from what I hear he really does not have the time to get back quickly to people.

But that is the best start, write to him in the contacts page and he will at some point get back to you I would think, I he answers all inquiries himself and I am sure he is fully booked this year and probably all year 2022 I would guess. But you can always ask to be on the list if someone cancels, I was scheduled for this June actually, but someone canceled i January and I jumped on a plane.

    Good luck.

    Hi,

I guess the usual stuff, Minoxidil 5% with 0,1% finasteride mixed, some vitamins and shampoo recommended by Dr Zarev, and ketokenazol shampoo.

And I myself have also started to test this: https://gromdshampoo.com/

and during the first 10 days post op some cooling cream and cooling spray for the itching.

I guess this type of post op regimen is very  standard these days.

Wow so the first 3 pictures are at the end of operation day 2?

Correct, around 23:45 at night and we started at 11:00. 😴, let's just say I was very tired and barely could stay awake even though I was just lying on a bed, but it is very tiring and wearing on the body.

  8.  Hi guys, some more picture, found 2 pictures I took 10 days after OP with my system camera (yellow background), from 2021-01-16 (Operation days were 2021-01-05 2021-01-06) and also I have received the immediate post OP pictures 😃, Dr. Zarev did explain that I am one of few of his patients that look like this immediate after operation, the trauma usually looks much smaller, this is due to my skin type.

You can also see that my head is quite swollen, I did look like Stewie from family guy for 3 days 🤣, it was a lot of laughter (from wife and myself) and a bit scarred 3 years old girl 😅, but it started to go down after 3-4 days and I think around day 7 most were gone.

  9. There is always a risk when doing a hair transplant, you minimise that risk by going to a doctor who has shown in an open and clear whay what he can do and for me Dr Zarev checked all the boxes, works only on one patient at the time, does all the work on the patients head himself, evey step of the way, has a clear calculated method of what is achievable , is great at doing large sessions proven by his many many results that he has shown, high survival rate of grafts and understands the art behind a hair transplant.

Evey doctor have a different aprocah and way of work, I think choosing any of the doctors with good reputation and proven results will work out fine.

I understand the idea of maybe taking the slow approach of doing smal amounts, (this way would have taken me 2-3 years to get to 9000-10000 grafts btw, now I will finish within a year) but I didn't not at any stage feel that I was taking a risk with Dr Zarev to be honest . A difference with Dr Zarev to other doctors I think is that it is very demanding physically and takes a lot of concentration to do such large sessions and most doctors can't handle to operate for 10-12 hours, and he does most of the work himself.

That's why we are here, to learn, share and help each other and others what ways/directions there is to take 🙂

Thanks @HugoX. This is great information!

In the folders of results, did you see any patients with non-optimal hair characteristics such as not the most robust donor or fine straight hair? From the Zarev results I have seen, everyone seems to have near outstanding hair characteristics.

Also, Dr. Zarev has mentioned that due to his technique, he is able to extract 60% of the grafts in the donor area without causing the appearance of donor depletion, while other surgeons might not go above 40%. Was there any mention of this?

Finally, any mention of ever using BHT such as beard hairs?

Much appreciated for your information and transparency!

We mostly looked at pictures that resembled my type of hair loss and what to expect from the first stage transplant.

We never discussed BHT as the result that I wanted to achieve was applicable with my donor.

For the % of my donor cannot recall we talked about this in detail, the main focus was as I had lost so much, that in the first stage build coverage and then do another assessment to see how much more would be available to take out and still keep the homogeneous look all over. From initial assessment I had 9-10k grafts.

I think survival % of the grafts is one key factor for me, when you see some people who have done 7000-9000 grafts and the results look poor I think it’s due to the survival of the grafts, either damaged during extraction, or not properly taken care of when outside the body or damaged during implanting.

I do not know in detail the vacuum extraction method he uses, from what Dr. Zarev tried to explain is an automatic vacuum assitsted method to extract grafts without unnecessary tissue damage and this way survival rate is around 95-98%, and for someone like me who has lost a lot each % is crucial, it does seem to my eyes right now that all the grafts transplanted are out and growing, but still thin and frizzy.

Sorry for the many question we are asking, but you are the Zarev patient.

He usually gives numbers of hair density, either as FU per cm2 or hairs per cm2, did he tell you how much you have?

Also did he take hair all the way below the donor area, close to nape?

I know, I think as most of Dr Zarevs patients are bulgarians (95% atleast) and from what I could gather most are of the..how to say..higher profile/higher income people ( I my self am definitely not a high profile or high income person 😅, just good at saving money as I knew this day would come and that a good doctor is not cheap), and as from what I have seen before I did my transplant he produces so many good results, what you see on his webpage is nothing compared to the folders after folders after folders of results his got in his computer, all with the same exellent results.

So I think most of his patients are not good at english and also they are simply happy with the result and just move on and they are not the type of people who go to forums and write...thats what I think.

He did give me all the numbers, but this was in january, you know as time goes so does the memory 😅.

But he did make it clear that he does not go outside the safe zone, he is aware that some people think that he goes outisde the safe zone but he does not and the mega sessions of 11k-14k grafts is not something most people can do, very few have this kind of donor to achieve these numbers.

If i remember correctly I think I have(had) 72 grafts cm2 at donor, thick hair shafts (dont remember the mm for that), I am trying to get more details for you guys, I know Dr Zarev is very busy and they have a vacation period in Bulgaria right now, they are closed for 2 weeks, not sure when they open up again.

    @HugoX

    Congrats. Fantastic.

    Question:

Are you buzzing the lower sides and back?  (about an inch or two around your ears and all he way back). If so why? I wonder whether it is an aesthetic choice due to thinning of donor area. Either way, its looks good. Nothing wrong with it.

Also did he tell you your density FU/Cm2?

Yes, I have been trimming my own hair on and off to try and see how it looks, I trimmed down around ears and neck as I dont like when it grows longer, but I am going to let it grow now until month 6 I think and then go to a hair dresser for a proper trim 🙂. I personally think my donor looks great considering I have had 7000 grafts taken out, seen others irl that have taken 2000-2500 grafts that look terrible.

Regarding calucations, I know he did a very thorough measurement and calculation of donor, graft/cm2 and also calculated for future hair loss (even though I basically have reached almost max hair loss), total area for recipient ara I think is 227cm/2. I will probalby go for next step in October, when I reach 10 months result to do some more. I will let Dr. Zarev decide what is the best way to proceede, we will discuss this after the summer.

Looking fantastic for 4 months. This would be considered a good end result for a lot of clinics after 12 months for a first time pass on a NW 6 (not taking into consideration no. of grafts used) so you’re already well ahead of the game!

😅 Hope not end result, expecting more growth in terms of thickness first of all as hairs still not as thick as they should be (donor hairs are thicker right now) and more growth to crown area and maybe some slow growers who haven't popped out yet 🤔

I think you said you originally posted your experience on local forum, right? Which forum is that and are there any other Zarev patients posting their experience there?

It's a Swedish forum in and obviously in Swedish and no there is no one else but me that have gone to Dr Zarev in that forum...and maybe(probably) only one from Sweden... Lookgood.se is the page.
