Does anyone know where I can get this please in the UK? Finding it very hard to get it prescribed and I've heard it's better than topical?

I had to see a dermatologist that believes in oral minoxidil as a treatment. Couldn’t find many place that would prescribe me it. Nor could I find any sites that sold it

I take about 2.5 mg of oral min per week, no sides. I didn't experience shedding either, my arm hair and body hair seem to grow a lot faster too. My hair looks healthy, can't say it's grown anything back, but definitely maintaining it.

How come you only take 2.5mg weekly? Did you start on that dose? Or did you have to reduce your daily dose?

I was prescribed pimecrolimus cream a few years back by a dermatologist to see if it helped with my erythema from my SMP. It didn't do much for me but I hope your script helps with the inflammation for you.

How did you fight the inflammation? Did it just got away in its own?

Were you using topical minoxidil prior to starting oral ? I would be interested to hear if you make improvements by switching to oral and if you experience any sides. Thanks

I was using topical since around 17 years old and stopped around 21 and the started back up for a year before stopping again. I’m 23 years old now. Sides wise so far I haven’t had anything. I’m pretty hairy already so more body hair isn’t that bad for me. But all the other sides I haven’t really had yet. I’ll definitely keep you guys updated!

Have you considered topical anti-androgens like topical dutasteride once per week? You can get it from Dr. Mwamba at FUEClinic.com.

I haven’t actually, it could be worth a try. I just got a little bugged out since using the finasteride. You have any experience with topical anti androgens?

  6. Hi, hope you lot are well! After about a year or searching I found a dermatologist that would prescribe me oral minoxidil. He advised me to start with 1.25mg for the first month and then 2.5mg there on.

Im looking to start a new regime, I’ve previously used finasteride and got every side effect you could think of Aswell as a lump in my breast so that’s not a option for me anymore. Also, I’ll be using nizoral 3x a week to try fight any inflammation. I feel like I’m not doing enough to keep the hair I have I Was wondering what Else i could use?

when I visited the dermatologist he had a look at my scalp and said there was “diffuse redness with no perifollicular exacerbation and there is no significant scale.” He prescribed me a 0.1% tacrolimus topical to help with the possible inflammation. Once I did a bit of research it said a side effect of the drug was hairloss and thinning. Was wondering if any of you guys have knowledge about this?

Any reccomdations would be great. Thank you guys!

Where is the product being made? Have you taken it to a compounding pharmacy or chemistry group to see if it's legit?

Hi dr, I haven’t had it check but it’s a good idea to. I saw their adverts on tv and assumed they was legit but that’s not always the case

If you have only minor scalp skin irritation, before you waste money on a doctor visit try to change up your shampoo regimen. You could have a mild moisture or yeast imbalance issue. You could start with a gentle shampoo or try an over-the-counter medicated shampoo, something like Head & Shoulders or Selsun Blue that have zinc pyrithione or selenium sulfide, or Nizoral that has ketoconazole.

Minoxidil itself is not what causes the skin irritation in most of the guys that do experience that. Its the other ingredients commonly found in topical solutions, particularly propylene glycol, which is basically the alcohol in the solution that helps the minoxidil penetrate your skin.

For what its worth, the label on this says it's "PG-Free," probably referring to propylene glycol, and "alcohol-free" which would be a redundant way of saying pretty much the same thing. Their FAQ says.

Like all medicines, this Topical Finasteride with Minoxidil can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The most common side effects are itching and skin irritation of the treated area of the scalp. If scalp irritation continues, you should stop using the medicine and discuss your symptoms with your doctor.

But I couldn't find a list of the inactive ingredients on the site. The company website does looks better than most I've seen as far as appearing to be legit, but their labeling appears to be a little slippery. Like @Dr. Suhail Khokhar says I'd have your bottle analyzed before committing.

I’ve been using nizoral every couple of days. I might use something like baby shampoo on the other days. I thought it would be legit, seen all the adverts in tv so I would have guess it was all above board but it’s definitely a good idea to get it analysed and see what exactly is in it. Thanks for the help man.

  9. I had a hair transplant around 7 months ago, it’s looking decent. The crown is a bit thin still even though I had hair implanted. But that is done now. I want to start using my new topical but I believe I have some scalp inflammation, the skin isn’t red but feels a bit itchy, sore sometimes and wondering if I was okay to use it? Would this aggregate my hairloss even more? I’m a diffuse thinner. Hoping I can thicken up the hair after that transplant and keep as much of my native hair at possible. Bit lost in what to do so any help would be great. Thanks guys.

Lol if you're referring to that Alex guy, hes just trying to sell you some diet plan or something eventually. Your first step is to go see your surgeon or a doctor/or dermatologist. If theres a potential condition causing inflammation they could diagnose it, topical corticosteroids are an option at that point.  Otherwise start managing your diet, cut out fried foods, control your blood sugar, look up and eliminate other inflammatory foods, manage your stress, exercise more etc.. Selsun Blue and Nizarol help me reduce some itchiness and inflammation& dandruff on my scalp.

Another thing I've been doing, and you should do your own research/consult with your doctor, I take small amount of pure aspirin powder with my tea at night. Do research on its powerful effects for inflammation.

Yeah that’s the guy, I spoke to him once and it was like 5k for the course. But defo I will see a dermatologist and go from there. Diet is huge Aswell will focus more on that Aswell thanks man

If you're already dealing with scalp inflammation then I would hold off on the topical for now, especially min as it is a skin irritant for many guys.  Maybe ask the surgeon? Go to a dermatologist?  I do use neutrogena t-gel and/or Nizoral once a week and that seems to keep the inflammation at bay. Also, I swear by Scalpicin - cures any itchiness I get.

Yeah man I’m going to hold off until I sort it. I’m sure it’s inflammation. I itch a bit but Not to much. more like weird feeling when moving my hair about. It’s not a bad pain or anything but just feels sensitive still. Defo Going to book in with a dermatologist

  12. I had a transplant 6 months ago and I am happy with with results but I feel like I have scalp inflammation. When brushing my hair, mainly when combing again the direction of growth it’s feels a bit sensitive and tender. Very hard to describe the type of feeling and I’m wondering what the best ways are to combat this? I wanted to start using a min+fin topical (which I now have) but There’s a guy on YouTube that claims it could make the hairloss worse if you don’t Fix the inflammation first. He has a programme that can help with dealing scalp inflammation and helping hairloss but it’s not something I can afford so I was wondering if you guys had any other ways of combatting the scalp inflammation? Thanks very much!

    Thank you!

I've just read that their minoxidil doesn't contain the ingredient that can cause scalp irritation, so that explains it being more expensive. Minoxidil max do a version without propylene glycol too but it's also more expensive.... [self edit] ok I just compared prices and minoxidil max 15% minoxidil without propylene glycol and 1mg fin is £310 per year. It also has some other ingredients too like 5% azaelic acid and caffeine. I don't know how Freshman can justify nearly £500 for what I'm guessing is only 5% minoxidil and fin.

I guess for quick delivery and knowing it comes from UK, maybe £500 is worth it.

When you get it, start slow. use half a dose for half the amount of time it directs i.e. instead of 1 ml once per day, do 0.5ml 3 times per week. I would advise doing it for a month or two, just to let your body get used to it. It will still help your hair but crucially it won't shock your body into producing side effects. There's much less chance of sides anyway with topical but I think it's always good to be cautious.

You should also look into getting a £10 dermaroller on Amazon (1mm needles) and nizoral 2% shampoo.... do both of them once a week to support your topical fin/minox.

Who did you get your HT with by the way?

I had a belgravia centre minoxidil mix with them things also, but idk how much they help man. I thought it was more of a money making scheme but I could be wrong! Oh I didn’t realise the minoxidilmax one was 15% might be worth just getting that. How long did it take for yours to arrive? I’ll definitely ease my self into it and work up to the full dose. And yeah got the Nizoral Aswell will start using it again.

And I got mine hair done at the hair of Istanbul 5 months ago.

thanks for the helps also man!

  14. Hi guys, I had a transplant 5 months ago and I am amazed by the result so far. I still had a lot of hair before the transplant but was thinning all over, so I looking to stop the progression of the thinning/hairloss. I’ve tried finasteride and all 3 times I’ve got sides so orally it’s just not for me and was on topical minoxidil for around 5 years and I feel like it stopped working for me. I’ve been advised to use oral minoxidil which have great results but after contacting drs near me for a consultation/prescription none have responded to me. I’m thinking to get in a topical min + fin. There’s a company here in the uk called FRESHMANS that do the mix, do you guys think it’s worth a shot?

    https://www.getfreshman.com/get-started/

here’s a link, would be great if you guys could let me know what you think. Or is there’s any other ideas on how to preserve my natural hair. Thanks very much!
