    EvoX,

It’s nice to see photos of men who’ve undergone hair transplant surgery with long hair.  Because most individuals who share their results wear their hair in similar ways, your results show that hair styles for men who’ve has surgical hair restoration really can be versatile.

That said, it might help Caradubaxu if you post some photos showing the hairline (assuming you have SMP tattooing there as well).   I know if I was concerned about growing my hair out with SMP, my primary concern works be how the hairline would look.

    Best wishes,

    Rahal Hait Transplant

I didn’t want the SMP to be visible at the hairline because that would make it look obvious. So I had the artist start the SMP about a half inch behind the hairline. Because of this, you don’t see the dots on the hairline but you get the density illusion with all the hair behind it.

It could be the minoxdil shed. I remember when I first tried minoxdil my hair was falling by the clumps. I believe it's shedding weaker hairs, and then when they grow back they're stronger and thicker.

Really hoping so. Some of the hairs definitely seem thin but I’ve also shed some that are thick. But the thick ones could be normal ones shedding based on the cycle or just from tension from hair washing and brushing.

Take a look at what is said about temporary shedding in the following link.

Perhaps the oral minoxidil is more effective than topical prompting the shed.

I would give it a couple of more weeks to see if shedding subsides.

https://www.midlandskin.co.uk/conditions/minoxidil/#:~:text=Temporary shedding is very common, will stop after 4 weeks.

Yeah I’ve read similar things, just paranoid I guess. I’ll definitely give it a couple more weeks then reassess.

That's understandable, just keep remembering its the finasteride and dutasteride that's doing all the heavy lifting in terms of keeping your hair follicles working enough to produce the visible hair that the minoxidil is just enhancing. Minoxidil doesn't actually address the underlying causes of hair loss, without blocking DHT its just a way to make your hair look its best until the DHT completely wipes it out.

I hope that’s the case. But I’m so paranoid because I have a full head of super long hair and I just don’t want to lose any of it.

And as long as you stay on the finasteride you're not actually losing any ground, you're just not getting the optimal thickening and growth cycle synchronization that the minoxidil does. Worse case you can just go back on the topical if your body isn't processing the oral effectively for whatever reason.

That’s what I’m hoping, I’m just so scared I’ll lose hair and then never get it back. I also forgot to mention I’m on topical dutasteride too.

This should just be temporary. Did you shed much when starting the topical? gain much thickness or has it just helped you maintain? And what oral dosage are you taking?

It’s been so many years I don’t really recall. I don’t remember a shed and I don’t remember any regrowth. I just know it stabilized my loss.

    im taking 2.5mg daily.

  7. Background: I’ve been on finasteride and topical minoxidil for 3 years, and my hair loss has been stable. I’d never see more than 5 hairs when I washed or combed my hair.

I got a HT almost 2 years ago, and I’ve been growing my hair long ever since. I’ve been concerned that topical min was not able to get to my scalp due to having so much hair. So a month ago I switched to oral min. In the past few days I’ve noticed significantly more hair loss. I didn’t count the hairs but it’s at least 10 times as much.

So now the question is, is oral more effective and I’m shedding miniaturized hairs that will now grow in thicker and fuller, or is oral not doing its job and I’m losing hair because my scalp isn’t getting topical any more?

Any harm in reintroducing topical min while also doing oral? Best of both worlds?

The only 'top' level guy reputation wise I know of in Chicago is "Magic" Mike Muszynski. He's been around for years with experience in the thousands. He was working under a larger company called hairlineink until recently and has his own business now. Website link is below. He's still in Chicago and one of my top candidates for my own

That’s who did my SMP and I definitely recommend him.

I think generally it's acknowledged that the crown is a black hole and takes up an enormous amount of grafts to make a noticeable visual improvement whilst trying to respect the whorl pattern which is why generally people tend to focus on the frontal framing of the face. I also think it's significantly easier to use fibres and cover the crown if it's a bit more light to disguise any balding/thinning on the crown.

Aesthetically the frontal hairline worries far more people because it's visually what we see in the mirror and others predominantly see.

I personally think until there's unlimited grafts, the crowns the very last place i'd want to personally be investing my finite grafts when trying to improve my visual appearance via Hair Transplant.

In that picture of Jack Nicholson i do agree, if he basically had receded on his temple points, he would look significantly worse.

Anecdotally speaking, of all my balding friends, almost none of them care about their hairline receding. What they hate and are self conscious of is their bald crown. I was actually surprised when I joined here how many people were ok with a transplanted hairline and a bald crown.

I totally get that from a psychological perspective, as I myself would feel more self conscious of having a noticeable bald crown than perhaps a receded hairline or temple points.

But when you talk about improving a persons aesthetic, the most focal part is the front on facing impression that we give people - in which temple points make up part of the facial framing, along with the hairline.

I don’t know why there’s such a debate about this, all I originally said was ‘they are important’ . . Which I think is a pretty mild and valid statement.

I still disagree, but that’s just my opinion. To me it’s more aesthetically pleasing when someone has a receded hairline with a full crown, versus a nice hairline and a bald crown. To each their own though.

Nothing dogmatic about it at all, it’s universally acknowledged amongst the hair loss industry that the framing of the face is the most monumental aesthetic improvement hair transplantation can offer, and without temple points, there ain’t no frame ol boy.

I disagree. For me the worst part about hair loss is a bald crown. A receded hairline and temple points can just look like a mature age appropriate hairline, whereas a bald crown is what screams “I’m bald”. If I had to choose between having a receded hairline with a full crown versus a perfect hairline with a bald crown, I choose the former every time. Which is in fact exactly what I did. Everyone is different of course, but for many people like myself, we feel the bald crown is the worst part of hair loss.

  12. It’s probably thinning, but with the high amount of dandruff you have it could be something else. Start washing your hair with nizoral twice a week (no more no less). At the very least it should fire your dandruff, and it may help regrow your hair if whatever was causing your dandruff is causing the hair loss.

I also echo getting on finasteride and minoxidil.
