  1. Just curious, is the GraftCyte concentrated spray the same product as the shampoo? I have been using the spray at least tree times a day since my procedure eight days ago. The bottle says to use the spray for seven days post op.
  2. Thanks I just started to use neosporin yesterday. Any idea on a product which can conceal the scar s while the hair grows in?
  3. I am one week post op. Some of the loose sutures from the old repaired plugs in the hairline have beed removed. The others are still to tight and will come out in a few days. Just waiting for the repair plug scars to heal. May need to use some kind of scar concealer. Any suggestions?
  4. I had my HT last friday on my hairline to about four inches back. My crown is still very bare but I do have some very fine hair back there. How much hair is needed in order to use toppik? Does anyone have any pics after using this product?

  6. I am 4 days post op and have had very little pain in the donor area except when I sleep. I have been using an ice pack on my forehead and donor area about ten times a day since the surgery. I really think the ice pack has helped.
  7. I just underwent a HT at the hairline to about three 1/2 inches back. My crown area is still going to be bare. Any suggestions on how to cover/conceal the bare crown area without wearing a piece? I am hoping to undergo another procedure within the year. However, my donor area is very very limited.

  9. Notsohairy What type of suture was used? I do not recall this mentioned in your post. Just curious to know if one type causes more discomfort, itching etc. I am 48 hrs out with regular stitches and have not had any itching problem. Dr. Charles indicated that suture removal is not complicated. Just need a good sharp small scissor and tweezers. My wife was an LPN many yrs ago and she said that it should not be a big deal to remove them.
  10. I just caught the end of a TV ad for a product called Avacor. It appears to be some kind of concealer. Has anyone heard of this product or used it? I am already trying to decide how to conceal my crown area once the hairline area starts to grow. What is the best product to use on the crown if there is very little to no hair?

  12. Regarding the front plug removal, Dr. Charles did leave at least one or two hairs in the old plugs. It is very hard to see this in the photo. He did not want to bring the hairline down any lower. Only time will tell if this will be an issue. I will keep everyone updated.
  13. I just had my HT yesterday and Dr. Charles does not recommend the dissolvable sutures. I cannot travel back to Boca Raton for removal so my wife will try and remove them in a few weeks. I am only 24 hrs out but still no pain or itch. I have been using an ice pack for 15 minutes every waking hour and I am using a spray called GraftCyte at least 10 times a day.
  14. Thanks guys! At this point I still do not know what to expect. I have not had a hair line in 18 yrs! I just wish that I had more donor hair for the crown because I could have sat in that chair for another four hours. Dr. Charles did a great job dealing with the old plugs. That was a big concern.
  15. Sorry, I did not get a before pic to come up. Hopefully, it will now appear.
  16. I have just returned from my trip to south Florida to see Dr. Charles. On Friday I met with Dr. Charles and he outlined the game plan to correct the old procedure which I had undergone 16 yrs ago. There is no doubt that my case was very challenging. First, Dr. Charles would have to core out some of the old plug grafts and try to save the hair follicles from these plugs. On top of that, my donor area was very limited and I had extensive scarring in the donor area from the previous procedure. This would also reduce the amount of grafts available. The only discomfort I felt was during the initial anesthetic process which lasted about five minutes. I had no discomfort for the next six hours. It was very obvious that Dr. Charles and his staff are experts at this procedure. I was made to feel very much at ease and everyone was very professional. After it was all said and done, Dr. Charles was able to transplant about 1900 grafts in the area of the old HT even with my limited donor area, which was a surprise. To top it all off, Dr. Charles presented me with a FREE LaserComb as a gift after the procedure. I cannot express graditude to Dr. Charles and his staff for the care I received. I am now entering the long waiting period which everyone goes through. I will now try and post some before and after pics.

  18. Does anyone know if most insurance plans cover Proscar? What is the main reason this drug is used? I now know that Propecia is costly and not covered. Just curious.

  20. Could someone explain the difference between the two products? If they do basically the same thing, which is cheaper. Does one of them help a new HT grow faster. I started taking propecia twice a week ago per Dr. Cooley. I just started to take MSM this week in preparation for my HT in two weeks. I am concerned about the side effects of propecia and the costs! Thanks for any info.

  22. Dr. Cooley gave me an RX for Propecia. My insurance RX card did not pay a dime! Is that normal for ins not to cover propecia? Has anyone delt with this problem? CVS charged me $60 for 30 pills!

  24. East Coast I am in the same boat. Please look at some of my pics under Altair on the free HT section. I too had a very bad HT 16 yrs ago. I have felt depressed and angry for many years. Until I found this MB I had lost all hope. I assumed that I would have to live under a hat or a bad piece for the rest of my life. I am scheduled to go to FL to see Dr. Charles on the 23rd for repair work. I also went to see Dr. Cooley in NC a few weeks ago and he also felt that I could get dramatic improvement. Since I have not seen any of your pics I am not sure if our conditions are similar. I will be posting pics after my repair work. Believe me, I do understand how you feel.
  25. Jack I feel your pain! After I bought my first hair system from Apollo they also said that I would only have to come in every eight weeks. This was not true, you had to come in every four weeks at $50-$60 a shot. When they placed that system on my head, they turned me away from the mirror and said that they needed to cut what little hair I had up front a little shorter. What they did was shave my hairline. I hated the thing but I could not walk out of there with a half shaved head. As soon as I got home I stopped payment on my the balance due which I had just paid. I had already paid 50% of the charge which I am sure more than paid for the system. They did call me and try to get their money but I insisted to the CC company that they had deceived me and I would not pay. They did give up and go away. I hope to burn my piece sometime over the next year!
