Give the lad a beak lads for goodness sake. If he wants to go for surgery let him go it’s his life and his head, He obviously does not want to spend his twenties bald. HLC are not cowboys they wouldn’t work on him unless they knew he would be ok for the future. I’m 25 and I’ve had 2 hair transplants Already best decisions I ever made. Will I be ok in 20 years? maybe not I dunno il jump that hurdle when it comes. My advice is defo get the surgery done but go on finasteride and minoxidil aswell.

Completely agree! I hope he goes through with it. HLC will guide him right. In fact, if the patient asks for a "too aggressive" hairline against the doctor's advice, the patient has to sign a document stating so.

    Cheers to new hair!

Very odd post, why are you promoting a clinic you didn’t go too?

Because I'm not promoting a clinic. I'm announcing an event. Have you ever seen a HT live? How many people would find this of value? How many people ask questions that would be answered in such an event. Chances are it will be on YouTube after it's recorded.

And just because you haven't heard of the clinic, does that mean it's a trash clinic? You should get out more.

  3. Unpopular opinion....

Go ahead and get a transplant but plan (mentally and financially) for a second procedure immediately. You will probably want/need a second HT in 2-3 years. Your first transplant should be stable, but you'll likely continue to lose your native hair. So your second procedure is chasing the recession. In fact, you *might* want to have a long term plan for 3 procedures. And yes, you should consider getting on finasteride and minoxidil.

That said, you will want to start off with a high quality doctor who can help with this multi-procedure plan. Your current budget may be too low. If you need 2,000 grafts (at 2.0 - 2.5 Euro/graft) you'll need at least 4k Euro.

  4. So I used some Toppik today for a video conference I had (I'm 3 months into my HT). I wanted to see what the Toppik dust looked like under a microscope.

Cool! See how the fibers stick to the hairs?

Now THIS is the illusion of density... a transplant is NOT an illusion!

  5. Many people don't like flying and travel is tricky right now. I went to Turkey and did a little sight seeing while I was there... and I was able to save a lot of money and I even flew business class. I would say most people on this forum flew to their doctor.

As for clinics, there are a bunch of possibilities. I would spend a lot of time going through the Surgeon Reviews and Patient Results forums on here. You'll find people with similar hair as yours and see many photos. This isn't an operation you want to skip your research.

On edit... be careful of Facebook groups. They are heavily budget focused.

Do you think that’s indicative of something bad?

No, I just don't believe it. For example, there's no way this hairline is close to that.

The only red flag I see (if I'm bein picky) is that their results are in Instagram. Low resolution and too easy to apply filters. Lots of clinics do that. Even though some of the results look pretty good, I'm super skeptical.

Any reason why you wouldn't try Spain, Belgium or Turkey. For about $3/graft you can get a great surgeon with far greater reputation and tons of success threads on here.

Chances of having side effects on oral finasteride are 5%. If you don't want to risk it, just use a combo of topical finasteride/minoxidil. I use Morr F and have had 2 FUTs and it works well for me. You won't get side effects on the topical solution. The reason you see more people complaining about finasteride is that people report negative side effects and for people who don't have any side effects, they usually don't post about it.

Like many others, I have a Proscar Rx. For years I used to split into 4 pieces and take 1.25mg per day. But I was getting sides. Lower sex drive, difficulty with erections and even with the blue pill I still had difficulty "finishing" during intercourse. Right now, I'm taking 1.25mg twice per week. Sides have subsided some but I think I'm one of those people that shouldn't be taking it.

I've ordered a 6-month supply of a topical fin/min combo, Maxogen-X. Looks like they are sold out at the moment but this is the product HLC recommended. I'm already using Rogaine foam so I'll be able to replace that with Maxogen.

  8. MONTH 2 UPDATE

Posting ugly duckling pics. Got a haircut today, sides and back only, #3 guard all around.
Shedding stopped around week 6. I'd say I've lost 70-80% or so. Coulda been worse.
Only a couple pimples to date. Slight itching in donor area, comes and goes.

Using Rogaine foam twice a day. 1.25 mg Finasteride 2X per week. Biotin, Omega 369, and MSM supplements.
