  1. i didnt notice your age upon the initial read...as a 47 yr old male many would say you are beyond the years of major hairloss. its still good to get the doctors opinion. he/she may still want you to get on hairloss drugs before performing a HT. once stabilization has occurred they are more comfortable performing temple surgery.
  2. everyones hairloss is different...i.e. 1. some only lose hair at the temples 2. others lose hair only in the crown 3. few lose it all over while keeping this in mind...if your native hair in the midscalp and crown area are strong then there is not need for a transplant in these areas, thus a doc will perform a small temple surgery. depending on grafts and how you wear your hair you can go with fue or fut. they both have there pro's and con's. on the other hand...if you notice some thinning all over then a doc is less likely to perform your small reconstructive hairline surgery. instead preventative drugs should be used before pursuing a HT (i.e. fin, nizoral, rogaine). you should use these drugs for at least a year. i hope this info helped. let me know if you have any other questions.
  3. Michael5577, your view point is very biased as some of the top docs in the world perform fue (feller, true, dorin, etc). i am sorry but i would rather have tiny dots for scars than a 9 inch long scar. like i said, any hair shorter than a #2-#3 clipper is highly visible with fut. with fue the hair can be buzzed to #1 without noticeable scarring. in the event you dont like the outcome of surgery shaving back down is an option. if you dont like the fut result, you are more or less stuck. like it has been said, there are pro's and con's to both. one obvious pro to fut is success rate. while thats great its not for everyone. like i said. i wont have my head carved up for 1200 grafts. it doesnt make sense. i would beleive a %80-%85 success rate. it depends on the doc and patient. everyone has different experiences with each. just leave it at that and dont be so opinionated.
  4. i must also add..i only want my temples restored which is about 1200 grafts. the strip is impractical for so little grafts needed. i would only consider FUT for 2500 to 3000 grafts.
  5. nope...i like to wear my hair short. with the strip it requires at least a #3 in my opinion to cover the scar. also modern day fue does not yield that much less than the strip. i hear fue has success rates in the 85% area.
  6. With FUE being around for a while (not new technology), more docs performing the procedure...how much are the top docs getting per graft. I have seen $8-$12...Does this still remain true?
  7. you are thinning in your crown...i would recommend rogaine if you dont like the idea of using finasteride.
  8. i agree with what these two have said...looks like some thinning. i would see a dermatologist and start on propecia asap. it worked wonders for me.
  9. Thanks for the responses guys. My results are exceptional. I'm very lucky. Now I wish I caught my hair before my temple areas went bald. But hindsight is 20/20 right. I really want to get them filled in now seeing thaws results. I feel that with them filled in my hair would look great. Unfortunatly I think I'll wait for now. At least until I'm 26 or 27. See If my hair stabilizes. Unless someone wants to donate to my HT fund lol....hahaha thanks again guys.
  10. You'll ruin more by cutting twice. You won't see nearly the coverage you want with 2000. If your donor is only good for 4000 you probably should reconsider a HT. With your diffused thinning. Its probably gonna take more than 4000 to get descent coverage. Just my 0.02.
  11. Why not do it in one session. Save money, not risk infection twice. Why do it in two sessions? You will also save donor hair as you won't have to cut twice and ruin surrounding hairs.
  12. I'd say 3500 to 4000. 2-3 hair per would fill it nicely in the mid scalp area.
  13. Rcwest, thanks for the kind words. I am astonished at the results as I look back on the before pictures. I am still up in the air about a HT. It's still not a slam dunk with respect to future hair loss. I am going to consult a few more doctors before making a decision. Thanks.
  14. yea it wont work...the body will reject the foreign hairs.
  15. i think i am actually going to schedule a consultation with true and dorin. my original consult was with distefano and thus far not impressed with his results. thanks for the feedback.
  16. yes the temples are the exact reason why i dont grow it long...with the buzzed cut it hides the hairloss in that area. i am actually impressed with the results in the mid scalp area. it was a concern before but it looks like it has filled in quite nicely. i figure it would take about 1200 to 1500 for the temples. to get them pretty dense. i wouldnt ask for a teens hairline. it would be modest. i would still have a widows peak. what do you think?
