100% this forum is being poisoned, it’s a serious problem.

Poisoned? That's rubbish. There has been some very average results coming from Asmed over the past year and they were highlighted. A forum should exist not to simply market surgeons but to inform the public with non biased information so as to help make their choice.

In saying this, OPs results are average. Not great, not terrible. It's not a botch job by any means and the contrast between hair and scalp was always going to provide some challenges. I wouldn't be happy with his results but I also know that it's not a one and done type deal, but 4500 grafts I'd be expecting a little bit more density. Don't give me that "illusion of density" spiel either Melvin. I know.

    I'd advise all who are genuinely considering a hair transplant in the future to;

    1. Use multiple forums for research. Ask the mods who are sponsoring the forums also.

    2. Jump on Instagram and search "fue" "hair transplant" etc. I've found some real gems by doing this. You can find results from all over and speak to different people about their experiences. Many will have logs which run for a year + showing them in all sorts of conditions i.e. wet hair, sunlight, beach etc etc.

While I will agree that Asmed are getting bashed about more than probably deserved, I do also think that as of 2019 there are better choices out there for the kind of money you will spend with Asmed. The proof is in the pudding and there is so much pudding out there if you do the research.

Asmed is still an option but I believe we need to make them win our business back.

I don’t agree with your negative b@llocks and rubbish you post. Why don’t you ever speak up when there’s positive results and they do exist, that’s why we both choose this clinic.

Im over this topic. I for one won't be going to Asmed. The rest of you can make your own minds up.

For such a set up to work we would need the following :

stop and hold points - at what intervals does the Doctor enter the surgery room to check on the works being carried out ?

What does he check when he comes in?

What do they do on the event of poor quality being found during surgery ?

are there hold points more frequently for new technicians or is it the same for all?

Is it another surgeon or senior technician doing these checks ?

if it’s another surgeon / technician are they IAHRS accredited or approved by this site ?

Can we ask the clinic for a detailed description of their QA procedure . Perhaps the site should already have this if they are approved . Has the. QA procedure changed or been updated since they took on more patients ?

Haha agreed!  As a site engineer in my previous life I can see your construction chops showing there mate.

That email is itself a sales ploy.

It doesn't address any of the concerns raised here. It's an iteration of what currently exists - dressed up in propagandistic garb.

For example - use of "surgical assistant", when in fact he means "technicians" - but it doesn't sound as good to say the procedure was carried out by technicians and occasionally overlooked by a surgeon here and there.

    This.

Rather than address the failures that are clear for all to see, we get a blown out, fluffy sales pitch filled with impressive technical sounding words and names. It's actually quite insulting to those who have had terrible results.

I got in touch with the clinic to ask about the density of the implanted area. Apparently I had 49-50 grafts per sq cm. After using a ruler and taking macro pics of my transplanted area, I was counting less than 20 in most spots. Which means less than half of the grafts took. There’s no wonder it looks like it’s does. Booking a consult with Diep when I have the time to have a professionals opinion.

Disappointing to hear this, I feel for got man.

Before you go to Diep I would advise doing a bit of research on his donor issues. Just want to save you further issues brother.

For those who are interested, here are some photos of my hair with a tiny bit of toppik

i must say that the operation has changed my life. I no longer worry about my frontal forelock and thinning mid scalp looking weird / stupid

yes there are a couple of elements of the hair transplant I have been worried about such as the thin areas behind the hairline , overuse of sonar capacity etc, but how much can I expect with dark hair and light skin?

No matter what anyone else says it's really a personal victory for you if you are happy. Your hairline looks great and I'm really happy to hear it's been life changing in a positive way for you. Congratulations brother.

I just want to give you a huge thank you for your contribution to this site, you've updated regularly and with great honestly. You've taken some flak and handled it really well. Nothing but respect for you my man.

    Fair enough.

Look at it this way...it gives you the opportunity for a good result when you reach 12-18 months and have the ability to use another 1k-1,500 grafts with the same doc or a different one to really fill in and be able to densily pack the areas you would like with another procedure, because, even if Dr Gable would have done 2,500 or 3k grafts for you, there could have been a chance that some grafts would not have survived due to competition for blood supply and your grafts and money would have been wasted. Is it a bitch to want more knowing you could have got more and were ready for it, yes, but I’d take that over having a doctor over harvest my grafts to pack into areas and then not have some grafts survive.

This is really good advice. I've noticed many of these mega sessions lately look quite average. Although OP wanted 2000, it still gives him an opportunity to go back and get another 1000 in the area of question and it will be phenomenal. I'd rather that than 3000 in one session with 50% failing due to lack of blood supply.

Asmed has always been hit or miss. Not as bad as Doganay but certainly have seen some really disheartening work from them over the years. My guess is that it's because of the higher volume and tech turnover -- ie surgeon might be the same but the techs vary over time.

It would be nice if people posting their experiences in Europe/Asia noted who the techs were, as they are so instrumental.

I agree with your second point. I actually requested a particular tech when I was booked in with Asmed a while back (had read she was the go-to) but was told this was not possible, i.e. you get who you're given...Russian roulette basically.

I wouldn't go near a tech driven place any more, it's just way too risky. If the doc is not heavily involved (no more than 2 patients a day) then I wouldn't even consider them. My preference is for the doc to do the entire procedure; which I understand costs a lot more but gives peace of mind. Witnessing the failed outcomes over the years I would rather save up and wait to give me the highest chance of success.

I see your concerns, can you send me a private message with your name and surgery date. I will reach out to Dr. Erdogan.

It would be really interesting to have the Doctor come on the forum for an AMA (seeing as this forum would've definitely been instrumental in his business growth over the years).

I am sure I am not alone in wanting some answers as to why we have witnessed a noticeable decline in the results coming out of Asmed post late 2017.

    Hello Guys,

Yesterday I reached my 10-month mark and I would like to show you my current status.

These photos were taken in normal light in my living room. I was told that I only take my photos under very harsh light, but now you can see that my status looks bad even in normal light. I have to wear my hair down so I can hide this bad density.

I am still very dissatisfied with the growth rate and have already consulted new surgeons. Still waiting for answers, but some have said that at least 1000 Grafts will be needed for correction. It's unbelievable that asmed said that my result would be good.

I can see what you mean and there is definitely some density issues. I feel like this may have also contributed to the hairline looking slightly"off". Sorry to see you are unhappy brother, I cannot imagine how frustrating it must be.

On a more positive note, you have really amazing hair and I'm sure if you go and see someone else (please find a stick and place doc) you will have a truly incredible result.

    Hello one and all,

Im am very new to this forum but have been looking to have a Ht for a few years now in Istanbul but I'm finding it so difficult to make my choice, I have had consultations with 3 clinics now, Asmed 2 years ago but I really wanted to see Dr Koroy as I mentioned when booking but disappointingly didn't get to see him hence putting me off, There are really so many clinics there showing you great reviews and very good results omg what a mine field this is!! I have just recently been to Istanbul once again to try and finally find the right clinic and take the plunge......My last consultation was at Dr Cinik HT clinic very close to Acibadem Fulya hospital where I had some Dentistry done which didn't turn out good so I am so apprehensive and somewhat nervous to try and find the right Clinic and doctor to get the best result and actually give a little of there time before taking your money, I have also read that Dr Resul Yaman is very good at least I have narrowed it down to 3 now Dr Erdogan Dr clinic Dr Resul.... Any help!! on the right choice would be much appreciated.

Welcome aboard mate. There is plenty of information on the forums for you to research that can help with the above questions; So I would start there.

Also, you need to be aware that it's not cool to hijack someone else's thread and will likely not get you the type of helpful response you desire.

My advice is go and do a few hours research (minimum) on the existing threads and then come back and start your own.

Now that’s not true. The truth is the vast majority of patients are still receiving quality results and I have no reason to believe your results would be bad. If you haven’t documented your journey please do so and also create a patient website to track your progress.

    https://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/

Vast majority receiving quality results? This seems to be true in the past with this clinic. At present, the evidence we are all seeing is the exact opposite. Asmed needs to address the quality issues - why the dramatic inconsistency? Huge numbers of grafts and yet still density issues...

What was once a sure bet high end, bang for buck clinic (never 100% guaranteed, but as close as it gets) has now become a mill turning out some really below average results; all in the space of a year or so. It's terrifying that a change this drastic is possible.

Guys check this dreadful growth on an asmed patient. He just posted it on YouTube. This guy posted this on the BT forum and it got taken off. Absolute corruption in this industry. Asmed should be ashamed of themselves. This is NOT a one off this is happening more and more over the past 18 months.

This guy is at 9 months. I dont want to hear no BS from people saying hes still go time, this is no where near what it should be at 9 months even for a slow grower.

These continued substandard results coming out of Asmed are just not acceptable.

I vote for a moratorium on Asmed being included on the recommendation list until the results start improving and an explanation is offered as to why the quality control has slipped so dramatically.

The members of this forum are trying their best, as Kraistoff mentioned, to become well informed and educated about the HT world to avoid these exact predicaments.

To simply continue to ignore this inadequacy and keep them on the recommendation list couldn't possibly  bode well for this site's repute as an unbiased source of credible information.

i’d be shocked if Erdogan was more involved if you go back. it’s the chance you take going to this tech mill. i’d go to someone that’s more involved than just drawing the hairline in 20minutes. so if/when you get subpar results, you can atleast have the peace of mind you did everything in your power to have a good result and went to a Dr that actually took time out of his day to give you the attention you deserve

    This.

In my opinion it looks pretty good for 7 months. Those thin spots may very well grow in a lot thicker in the next 5 months.

Funny that you are the only one saying this Melvin.

I believe the OP has more than enough cause to be worried; the number of grafts used is likely over half of total (max.) available grafts for his lifetime. For this to be 60% to 70% of the final result is not ok. I have honestly seen 4 month results with half this graft number look denser.

As a completely unbiased, independent party; I must admit that your opinion of this being acceptable appears dubious.

Anyone that is genuinely considering using Asmed needs to see this review (and the other half dozen lack luster results over the past year) and add this to their due diligence.

I've got no bone to pick with anyone but I do believe that we need to reconsider Asmed as one of the top places to go anymore. Erdogan is no doubt fantastic, as his past results can attest, however, Asmed has basically become a tech driven cash cow from what it appears.

Good luck OP, I hope that for your sake the results improve over the next 6 months.

If you click on the images, it blows up and you can see it larger.

Yeah, I have absolutely zero regrets.  It's coming in nicely and I'm getting a couple of questions from closer friends asking what I did.  Saying I look 10 years younger with it like this, etc...

I honestly think because of the process and care Dr. Nadimi and her staff puts into the procedure, it has made such a great result.  I've always been a really, really quick healer, so I think that helps too.  But their process of taking care of the recipient site resulted in small scabbing and as I detailed earlier in this post, I followed the instructions pretty closely.  I tried to get the scabs and crusting off as soon as I could.  That obviously goes better when it's wet, so I'd lather up shampoo and lay the soap bubbles on it for like 20 minutes and then pour water over it out of my hand.  I was doing that 1-2 times a week until I was allowed to massage my head.

I see posts about people traveling to other countries to save a couple thousand dollars and the such.  I could never imagine doing that.  #1 if they screwed up, you'd have no recourse.  #2 this is a big deal.  If it's not done right, then you have to pay more to get it fixed, if possible.  But paying 9k vs 5k is not a big enough difference to risk it.

I would 100% recommend Dr. Nadimi.  No questions.  Her artistry is really good as everything is laying nicely, which I think is obviously what we're all after.

    Good luck all.

Great response. I'm glad to hear it's going so well for you mate, looking forward to seeing more progress pics along your journey.
