    Hi all,

Apologies for the delay on the update here - the clinic called me after this post and I was not impressed with the reaction. I did not speak to my original patient coordinator, Andreea, as she was out on maternity leave. Shoutout to Andreea again, she was the only good part of this whole experience.

It was very much a sense of "why did you not contact us first?". I know how this works, I think we all know. If I didn't use a platform such as this, I likely wouldn't have got a call from them. It took a few YouTube videos for the previous person mentioned(planetstephen) to get some repair work completed.

The part that was really frustrating was when I asked about repair work, and I said "I assume there will be a discount?". The response was "all returning clients get 15% off, but let me talk to the doctor". I didn't bother following up.

I did a lot of research before I went and I believed ASMED was a good choice, but I think I got mine done around the time where their model shifted to a hair mill. I think they're doing dental work now too, which sums it up for me.

I feel like I lost a lot of grafts, probably due to poor implanting, in the recovery phase. You can see in the photos after surgery that the grafts don't look gappy. But there was definitely hairs lost in the recovery. My barber was so shocked by it all and she cuts a lot of transplanted hair. She said my left side is ok, but on my right side there are just small islands of scalp where hair was either lost in the recovery phase, or just not implanted at all.

I am going to contact a few clinics in London to see if I can get some repair work. For now, I am using Toppik to fill in the gaps. I don't mind using Toppik, but I'm just so conscious of the obvious gaps, I feel like I should do something about it.

Sorry to hear! Really disappointing considering I thought I had a good experience. Some things of late have concerned me about the clinic. I want to add that since my hair transplant I have expressed that I have double grafts in my temporal points and a weaker spot in my temples. Nothing major but the doubles in the temple points is an obvious one and the clinic just flat out denied that it’s possible. I even purchased a magnifying camera and zoomed into it clearly showing they’re double grafts and I was met with the response that they’re just single grafts that have been placed close together?! I went into the conversation not angry about it or anything just stating an observation I had made and it was like they were immediately on the defensive with me. The fact that they do dental now is concerning too. In the recent newsletter there is a repair performed by Dr Bicer in Turkey. She may be an option for you if you still consider the turkey route. I’m considering her as I have a fut scar asmed wouldn’t put grafts into unless it was done in its own session.  Sorry to hear about this all hope you get a great result in your repair surgery.

  2. @IRE90LARKCrown looks fine. Unsure why they would have mentioned it at all unless there was obvious signs of some early miniaturisation that warranted warning you about future loss.

Did you have any photos of it month by month or so? I’m interested to see how it grew out. Density obviously just isn’t there. Really disappointing.

I was really set on going back to get my fut scar filled in and a few minor touch ups/ alterations but this has definitely made the decision a hard one.

  3. @IRE90LARK appreciate you following my previous forum post and sorry to see the disappointing result.

Have you got a photo of your crown? Just from the pictures you supplied, I also do not understand why it was a concern.

My first surgery in Australia resulted in similar results you have here. Such a shame. I would definitely contact the clinic and your coordinator and well as JT directly with photos showing your concerns.

may I ask if you had any complications post surgery? I would also like to add I missed out on the laser therapy but got smp into my scar which I assumed took this time. I also received the spray and lunch was at the halfway point of the surgery. Mine and the other guys on the same days results are all great. Mine has some noticeable weaker points but overall I’m happy. Having said that, this is all sounding very dodgy and the clinic should be ashamed. Your result is unfortunately a poor one.

there was a guy on YouTube under the username “planetstephen” that had his done at asmed. He may even have a forum post here. He received a poor result which they ended up redoing for free. Could be an option depending on how much you trust it. Another clinic would most likely be a better option but still a frustrating outcome!

Again, sorry for your results, clinic have done you dirty here.

edit: I paid €2.5 per graft for 2800 grafts. €7000 total so yours was very cheap

    So your result is excellent!

my question is as someone in the US, is there a reason I wouldn’t fly to Instanbul to this clinic as opposed to a top rated US clinic? it’s double the price for more or less the same results from what I can tell

ASMED is a great option for someone looking for a great result but a more competitive price. Yes there are surgeons in the US producing great results too but if you ask me they’re pretty overpriced. I have this exact problem in Australia where I was quoted $11 an FUE graft and surgeons here have no where near as much experience as someone like Dr Koray. There are other great clinics in Istanbul too, not just ASMED but make sure you do your research as there are a lot of dodgy clinics. HLC and Dr Cinik are two others I have seen with decent results

    Thanks for the response.

Its funny how we worry about the back of the head when in reality its the least noticed and cared about    Like i dont think i hve ever looked at the back of a persons head except for the crown and said thats a problem lol    Yet here i am worried what a 22000 graft fue would do to the back of my head

ur hair looks flipping amaZing now btw

Thanks! Yeah I tend to agree. Honestly with an FUE I think majority of the general public wouldn’t think twice even if the scarring was quite visible. The fut scar is really easy to pick though because it just looks so linear. My plan is to get it filled in and once I’ve done that I’ll be 100% satisfied with my how my hair looks. I know no one knows but I still have the thought that Its there and someone might see it every time I get a shorter hair cut and overall I just don’t think it looks good

Can you sport a skin fade with your results

If I didn’t have the FUT scar from my first procedure then yes, easily but I avoid it because my FUT Scar is so easily visible at anything below a 2 guard. Planning to fill the scar in then I would easily and undetectably go a skin fade but that’s also because my donor is quite dense so the fue scars aren’t easily visible

  7. 12 month result

Hey everyone here are my 1 year post op photos. I think this is an awesome result and undetectable. 10/10 would recommend and if I never had my first FUT procedure in Australia this would look even better. I keep in touch with the other guys from my procedure day too and all of theirs look top notch! May see if they’ll let me share their day 0 vs 1 year post op photos on here. Really love my result.

The inner perfectionist in me really is only picking out the little things. The hairline could do with some more density to further transition better into the multi grafts (although I think these multis are from my first failed hair transplant and if they were never there the transition would be perfectly fine, they were placed in an obvious line) and there is a weak patch on my right temple and behind the hairline.

Then there’s obvious things from my first procedure that I would love to fix such as there is two or three multi grafts in the temporal peak hairline on my right side which  bothers me slightly which I want to remove, and I definitely want to fill in my FUT scar.

May wait further down the line for another procedure though to account for further possible loss and it’s not critical at the moment.

Overall though couldn’t be happier. My hairdresser has commented how the hairs look softer and have blended into the hairs around them now and that she used to add product to get volume in my hair and has now changed to thinning out my hair with thinning scissors 😂 good problem to have.

My family all think it looks amazing and are really impressed and I’ve had comments from people who don’t know I’ve had the procedure saying that somethings different about me, Or asking if I’ve dyed my hair or if I’ve changed my hairstyle or even asking if I’ve lost weight!

Honestly if anyone is unsure or wondering whether it’s worth the money  I suggest doing so. Wish I had seen ASMED from the get go and my overall result would be perfect. Couldn’t be happier

    hope everyone is keeping well

These photos were taken on the 18th of December. I’ll post current pics for the 11 month mark soon. Have since started oral Minoxidil 1mg and changed to a lower dose (.4mg) of finasteride orally to combat weight gain (water retention) I believe I was getting as side effects from finasteride. Will up the dosage again to 1mg daily if no negative sides are persistent on current dosage.

I'd interpret that to mean he does the extractions, however I would have this absolutely confirmed by the clinic before booking any procedure. This is one of, if not the most important part of the procedure.

I had the €2.5 package and can confirm Dr Koray was involved in the entirety of the procedure. He mapped out the donor zones, did all of the recipient incisions, And oversaw the extractions and implantation by the technicians and has regular input. Not being pro asmed or anything but Koray ran the procedure and was involved throughout and I was happy with his level of involvement. I know some people like to know that the doctor is physically doing ALL of the implantation and extraction but to me if the team is as trained as they are I’m confident with them performing the majority of the extractions and implantations as long as it is overseen by Koray. A guy I was there with chose the package that is performed by Koray’s team solely where he doesn’t perform the incisions either. His result is impossible to tell apart from mine and Koray was still regularly overseeing the procedure and checking everything was being done properly. The staff are very highly trained and I feel like the term technician puts a lot of people off given you can get a botched procedure performed by technicians or you can get a great result performed by highly skilled, highly trained “technicians” (all with medical education) at asmed. From my experience alone I would trust the asmed team without korays incisions and be confident I would get a great result

  10. Month 8 Update

Still seeing gradual improvements so far! My main concerns is the spot above my right temple which still seems to lack density, the peak in the centre of my forehead seems to lack quite a bit of density, and some spots in the hairline where you can see doubles or multis right through the hairline where I’m hoping more singles in front are still coming in. Despite these small concerns still pretty happy so far. DC68BBA0-54F9-4BEF-AF7C-0014D0741F48.thumb.jpeg.a90b13d1f78e2fe06e8f6220412881b0.jpegAA69BC5A-05BB-4798-902F-0DFB440EC49D.thumb.jpeg.b3fcfde1e0b08187c569ff5938d4df70.jpegBB7467F1-3282-492A-B951-D1F2B2F65ED1.thumb.jpeg.831d2d08fc1f23db5b296c115612c868.jpeg36B3B3B8-25F4-477A-92BA-6EC34DE3BCA0.thumb.jpeg.28fe50d86a34b54a445b50eb0f859c81.jpegFEF56391-8AE8-4030-843D-3DD1A18E633C.thumb.jpeg.ab88862d47807af4044e89fdad8ba2d5.jpegAE482825-CC60-44EE-BAE8-6746D8239020.thumb.jpeg.d2c555542eebc7551d3430f9f591d46e.jpegD12632B9-A70E-4141-AE0A-9DA2A5D872C9.thumb.jpeg.3e3c15ff3f8b6443b00138805116fb94.jpeg9E9663C5-A440-4C65-B68E-5F9810899AF4.thumb.jpeg.09bd383bc6e0d1a1bde814d3d9b04975.jpeg5A18BD6A-06A5-4710-8E25-718875BB7BCE.thumb.jpeg.2348728b83c545bd259fa09c16ec6241.jpegBF9CDAAF-34C7-46E7-99EF-884F67210B80.thumb.jpeg.5c2d0951d093d925a092d33b9144e065.jpeg

Your hair is coming along nicely. Don't get caught up with hair greed. I understand that you want to have a "perfect" set of hair BUT i strongly belive that 99% of the public wouldn't be able to tell if you had a HT, unless you gave them a microscope and told them. Relax, it's 5mo. You still have a ways to go dude.

Thanks for keeping everyone updated tho.

@MichaelD thanks for your comment! Yeah I realise it’s only early days. It’s hard to not go over results with a microscope when you’re so excited for the final result! Trying to remind myself I still have 7+ months growing to go! Appreciate your reassurance!

Pretty happy with my results at the 5 month mark. Still not seeing the density I am after especially on the left side where the larger recipient area was and in the central peak. I am able to go out in public and easily style it to the point that you can’t see the new hairs which are much shorter than the rest of my hair. Not noticeable anyway. Not anywhere near wearing my hair with an exposed hairline like I’d hope to. Interesting that I seem to be progressing slower than the other 2 patients I kept in contact with. May just be how my body is reacting and I may just have to be more patient. Looking forward to the next month. Hopefully I see more improvements in the density. Interested to know all of your thoughts! Am I being too impatient and is this good for the 5 month mark?

Definitely well and truly in the ugly duckling stage. Have noticed I have held onto a very small amount of original transplanted hairs. Even getting a few little bits of stubble where some are starting to poke through. Redness is still a factor. Being undetectable at 10 days is a myth imo. With the redness as it is still, it’d be easy for anyone to see that there’s something up. Sides are longer than the top, uneven growth and areas still recovering from minor shock loss from surgery. Looked better at day 10 than it does now. I’m not exiting the house unless I’m wearing a cap. This whole corona virus epidemic, as bad as it is, has given me a good excuse to stay home and has also cancelled all the events I originally had been invited too. Perfect time to have had a hair transplant. The growth stage can’t come quick enough!

Hope everyone is staying safe! 🙂

In certain frames the transplant is very see through in the videos posted if you look carefully. The rep has used photoshop in certain frames to make the ht look fuller. Also i believe these 2 results were done 7-8 years ago. Asmed has different techs and works on 10 patients a day compare to 2 patients 8 years ago.

You're welcome i'm here to help.

No I didn’t but that’s for pointing that out! I understand they were done quite some time ago. Second video Is probably a bad example although first video demonstrated grafts into scar well I thought.

10 patients a day? Where’d is that information from? I was one of 4 on the day of my surgery.

Now i can see all those multis. Repair was needed after reviewing new pics. Only plus was you able to still style your hair.

Yet to see any asmed results implanting into donor scars. Clinics will say anything

All the best with your result.

Luckily I was able to style it to disguise it. Wind and water were my worst enemy though.

Here are two links to repairs Dr Koray has performed to scars. They also have more examples at the clinic.

Thanks for your input! Appreciate it!
