Looking good Legend. It must be nice to have very thick hair.

It's clearly thickening up. Looking good.

Looks great Legend. I also am glad you decided to document your journey. Maybe you'll be one of the 5% or so that doesn't shed. It looks like it's taking off already...

Happy Holidays...looking good.

Can you please describe some of the side effects you experienced?
I woke up one morning with a bad pain in the testicles which I've never had before. That day I also had the most horrible stomach cramps, and started having night sweats. Within a couple days I had all the sexual side effects, I felt truly awful, like I was coming down with something. I started doing research on the sides other people were experiencing on Propecia, and I found many had the exact same issues I was going through. I kept taking it for one more week then quit. Almost immediately the testicle pain stopped, the stomach cramps minimized, but the night sweats and sexual sides continued. I was actually worried I had received some permanent issues.
As I mentioned before, I'm very happy Propecia has worked out for the majority of users. It just didn't work out for me. -
The cost difference between the two can be quite substantial. I wish I could have my hair shorter on the sides and back, but I'm okay with it this short. When I had a minor FUT in 1992, I don't think anyone was doing FUE, or at least Bosley didn't offer it to me. Since I already had a scar, I chose to go that route again, this time with Dr. Diep.

At Dr. Diep's request, I went on propecia, and I took it for I think, around 6 weeks. At about the week 5, I came down with all the horrible side effects associated with it. A month off it, the sides >started< to fade, but it took another month. Fortunately everything returned to normal after two months. I'm using a DHT blocking shampoo is all, and I'm experiencing very little hair loss at this time.

Great video Melvin. Your results are amazing, the density looks pretty darn good. It can be a life changing thing to go from being follicularly challenged, to having a nice head of hair.
It shows without saying, you're very happy.- 1

Hands down, this has easily taken 10 to 15 years off of you! You definitely don’t look like a dude in his mid-sixties.
Congratulations again!👍🏻
Thanks Steeeve.

I fully appreciate the hairline Dr. Diep gave me. But probably more than anything I like that the Bosley plugs have disappeared. Even when my hair is wet, they're gone. I can't see them.

Definitely a great result thus far! Congrats!
And...you don’t look your numerical age, more like 10-15 years younger! 👍
Thanks Vic.

Hey shook .. it’ was like around 8 different kind of blood tests .. like hepatitis , hiv n some other tests .. u have to get those done before they will do surgery on u .. diep will send u a packet for u to do the bloodwork a few weeks before surgery .. I had to get it done through Labworks .. most of the tests cost around 50$ .. but there was one test that cost $450 alone .. so I opt not to take that one or else it would of been $850 total ,. Diep said it was okay if I didn’t take it when I told them about the cost of it . But it’s like why put it on there then if it wasn’t necessary .. h&w didn’t require me to do bloodwork ..
thats one thing that I have to say about the two clinics .. dieps office is so busy n booked months in advance .. so they have the attitude of, we the patients should be thankful they doing surgery on us .. if u don’t like it then we got someone else waiting to take ur spot .. h&w has the mindset of m, hey we know u paying a lot of money , u our patient . We going to treat u like u are our only customer ..
thats what I want my clinic to be like ..
Legend, when you mentioned earlier about having to get blood work done for Dr. Diep, I was a little surprised. They never mentioned that to me, and I never had it done. I wonder if it's because I had an FUT, and you were scheduled for an FUE...?
Anyways, I wish you luck on your choice. Please keep us updated.- 1

The hair is becoming softer now and maturing, it looks better from your last update. Overall, this is a home run result. Definitely took years off your appearance.
Thanks Melvin.

Picture taken on 11-12-18 exactly 9 months post op.
I'm thinking of going to two months now between updates, up to 1 1/2 years. I'm sure my hair has some to go, just that any observable changes are slowing. When it's wet, on top shows a little more thinness than I'd like. Fortunately when it dries, you can't tell at all. The crown is a little thin, but that doesn't seem to bother me.
I don't know if it's the adjusting of some meds I was on, the DHT blocking shampoo I'm using, but I'm noticing almost no hairs falling out. Nothing in the comb, just a few in the shower every couple weeks or so. I guess if I've made it this far in my life, chances are there won't be too much more hair loss, if any. I hope.
I enjoy seeing everyone's updates. Quite a few though, seem to stop posting altogether way before their year and a half.- 1

How could they cancel spontaneously like that. I am looking to get an appointment with Dr. Diep and I am from out of the country, I would need to book flights, hotel and vacation way in advanced. To find out they can cancel like that is very nerve-wracking.
They tell you your money has to be paid in full, I think ten days before your surgery. If you're considering Dr. Diep just make sure you've paid well in advance. I sent them a check 30 days in advance just so there'd be no problems with payment.

Yeah things happen for a reason . I really couldn’t afford to do FUE anyways .. nor wanted to for my first surgery .. I have to think of the surgery 2 n 3 in the future .. that’s going to be super expensive doing that many surgeries via FUE in the United States .. I’m okay with the fut scar .. at least I won’t have to shave the whole donor area ..
I like dieps office .. n the doctor himself .. but every time I have to deal with the manager there .. she’s not very customer service friendly ..
This could work out for you, since you leaned towards wanting an FUT anyways. And I'm surprised to hear about your dealings with the manager. Not sure who you talked to, every one of my phone conversations were very friendly.

Legend, sorry you had these problems. I hate glitches like this.
I don't think I mentioned it, but they called me three times in five weeks with cancellations. I could have gotten it done earlier..just too much hassle changing the flight and hotel.
I bet if you made a FUT appointment with them you'll get in on a cancellation. I'd sure hate to write off that $1000.
