  1. I think Dr.Arvind is a helpful and caring doctor. I have an Indian friend and as I gather from talking to him, Delhi is about as any other big city around the world. No red flag here I heard of a man flying from states to Delhi to have a heart surgery performed. Seems he didnt hav insurance and his operation was done in $10,000/- whereas here it was costing him $1,00,000/- (yes that many extra zeros). I dont think posting web site address is allowed. Just google Dr.AP . You should find his site and related info. BTW, Gil here seems to have the inside info on the good doctor.
  2. I think there is still scope for improvement in fue as well as using bodyhair. I contacted Dr.Arvind, Delhi and came to know how fast advances are occuring. You could try checking out hair site for latest and this forum for basic broad info. I do that.
  3. Thanks Gil. I am already in touch with Dr.Arvind. From his replies it seems he really cares and studies the pics in depth before replying.I like his approach. I am thinking of a feb05 procedure with him. I will document and share all the experiences with him for the forum.
  4. Thanks telephone man, I am now considering Dr.Arvind, Delhi. He is kind of far but I think he can help me with my idea of getting lots of bodyhair to hide the plugs. You are right- no point going for IPL or laser. I like hair on my head.
  5. I have had some plugs long back. Now I am looking for some repairwork. Since I have extensive hairloss(increased over the years) and my donor areas are pretty much ravaged by the plug extractions, I am looking towards body hair as an option. I have read Dr.Arvind's posts and pics showing some truly remarkable repairwork. He seems to be performing the max no. of 5000 body hair graft surgeries. At $3.5 a graft its tempting too.I have plenty of thick and long body hair .I figure I may be able to get them where they will help me more. But I wonder what all is involved in a trip of this sort. Does any of his patients post here. Anyone with experience of his work?

  7. Pilot, Now that has me confused. Means I will not really be getting rid of the hair in the plugs for good AND may end up with pigmentation. I don't want electrolysis though. I think I will go back to my research on fue and body hair.
  8. IPL-- that means something like lasering them. Also is it possible to get rid of the scars of the plugs too with this IPL. Any idea of the costs?
  9. What do you people say? I have horrid looking plugs. If I were to ask the doctor to deliberately cut the hair roots just below my epidermis- sort of make a permanent shock loss. Will that get rid of hair in my plugs? Or will the hair roots somehow join back and grow again? Anyone had experience with permanent shockloss. Do you think my idea may work or is it my overactive imagination. I want to get rid of my plugs but I want to keep the surgery to minimum.

  11. Dr. Glenn, How does the no. of grafts make a difference in terms of shockloss. I was made to believe that if proper care were exercised, there is less chance of damage to existing hair roots and so there is less shockloss. I ask because I am planning for a 4000 fue with lots of body hair in my next surgery.
  12. BigT, Any reason why you want to go for strip or why Dr.Rogers suggested you go for strip. If $$$ is not the consideration, I suggest never go for strip. And specially not for just 900 grafts.
  13. You mean to say Dr.Carlos charges $3 for fue?
  14. While you are studying for fue try Dr.AP, India and The Hairline clinic Turkey too. Seems they are both into body hair fue.
  15. BigT If these are the only 2 doctors u want to consider, I think Dr. Rogers is your man. But a ht is for life. Do not let proximity be a criteria in choosing your doctor. I have suffered because of that. You may not like my saying it but its true. UK is way behind in terms of hair transplants. The websites say they can transplant a mere 1500 grafts a day. Whom will you trust - people who routinely do 3000-4000 grafts per day or those whose best efforts add upto 1500 grafts a day.
  16. One ht doctor told me Carlos was the one who came up with micrografting way back in 1982 when everyone else was doing plugs. But I never heard he did fue. I think you are confusing his strip method with fue. BTW, do u have a link to him with an english website.
  17. The cost varies as far as I found. $12-- Dr.Cole, US- Atlanta $16-- Dr.Woods, Australia- Sydney $3.5-- Dr.Arvind, India- New Delhi
  18. 50 grafts could hide 50mm of a very fine 1mm wide scar. If u get such a scar you will probably not want a fue. But if u get say a 20 cm long scar about 3mm wide aim for at least 500 fue grafts. The prices vary a lot for fue specially if u are willing to travel to get it done. It varies between $7-10 in N. America to $3 in India. There's of course Woods with his $13 per graft in Australia. About the moth eaten appearance, I have heard about the donor sealant Dr.Arvind seems to be researching. Seems an option (if it works out). You could plan on body hair into your scar from areas of body which are normally hidden and even if u get some scars you may not bother about them.
  19. Hi Gillenator, I would like some info too on Dr.Arvind. I have been following his posts and pics on some forums but could you fill us in some. And pics will be right helpful. I know I will probably not be helped as I am not a "virgin" case but this hyperacute angulation intrigues me no end. (My grafts, they just stand right up- 90 degrees I think).
  20. I mean if the guy goes to Woods and gets ht AND then chooses Arvind there must be a solid reason--even beside the $$$.
  21. I noticed threads about ongoing 5000 body hair surgery on a few forums ( I dont think I am allowed to mention their names here or am I). Imagine a patient gets fue from Dr. Woods (the world's costliest fue surgeon) and then goes to Dr.Arvind ( I bet the world's most economic surgeon in fue and bodyhair). Gillenator, could you find out from Dr.Arvind the reasons for this- I am sure you would have a hotline to him.
  22. If body hair really works out I would prefer it rather than depleting my remaining head hair. Of course the prices have to be worked out or one has to think of planning a trip to India.
  23. I have been doing my own research about fue and bht.I agree we have some really good doctors in USA doing the stuff but of late I think Dr.AP of Delhi is sort of taking the lead. If I were you,I would pay him a visit while I visit Asia. I may be wrong but I think like outsourcing, States will have to leave it to the Indians and the Chinese. Its physical labor buddy and they are the people who can do it for us----CHEAP.
