  1. UPDATE: ( @Melvin- Moderator let me know if I should be updating the OP. I didn't see an edit option)

2 months now on 3x week MWF of the XYON Dut.
I might be kidding myself but it APPEARS there might be signs or increased density starting, compared to my previous update in June 28 when I started the new 3x regimen. Am I nuts or does this appear hopeful?

    Here's the June 28 pic first: image.thumb.jpeg.bd8cf862f957fda274fe75cac7be2c73.jpeg

    And here's today Sept 4:

  2. Hi all. Ok so I'm going to update the OP as well, but I wanted to kind of "start again" by posting my update photos with consistent lighting AND wet hair (as per @Melvin- Moderator) so here is 6 months in.

Reminder, I had been doing 2x week since February, and have only been increasing to 3x in the last few weeks. I plan to follow Melvin's lead and by August be up to 5x barring any sides (I sure wish this stuff was a little less expensive)...

So I'll post another wet hair pic in one month to see if 3-4x makes a difference.

While we're on the topic, I'm wondering if Melvin or anyone else wants to weigh in on XYON's new shampoo / conditioner product? Anyone using?

Yea it’s not staying on your scalp long enough. Because of the siloxysystem gel, it penetrates very slowly. If you wash it off in 12 hours, you’re likely only getting 50% absorption. Try to stick with the same regiment but don’t wash it out for 24 hours.

@Melvin- Moderatorthis question is for you or anyone using XYON. What are you doing to best distribute the gel across all your target area?
I know this has been an ongoing conversation amongst the community.
I can get my crown pretty well, but I want to try the tuft in front as well but def don't have enough from one pump to cover.
Since I'm doing only 3 days / week currently, I considered going up to 5 an alternating areas, but I also don't want to have too much systemic as right now I'm not having sides.

    Thoughts?

Sound advice, will do. And I MIGHT consider 3x in a few months.
You've been on it about the same time as I have. Are you seeing any results?

What were you taking prior? It’s hard to judge the pictures are taken in different lighting. I doubt its worse, but doesn’t look improved. The suggested dose is daily. The thing with xyon that is double edged sword in my opinion is that it absorbs very slowly. This means if you wash your hair out within 24 hours, it might not be absorbing enough to make a difference.

Hey @Melvin- Moderator. I was taking oral .5 MWF after my FUT with Cooley back in 2019.
Stopped that last feb 2022 when my wife became pregnant, and then started the XYON this past January 2023.

I have been putting it on in the morning and then washing in the evening, but maybe I should try leaving it on 24 hours. I've been trying to avoid getting it on pillows for my wife's sake as she's still breastfeeding.
    I guess I'll also try 3x week.

You said you are doing 3-4. Do you alternate days?

Also, for the rest of the gang, I'll try to keep lighting more consistent. I admit the stronger lighting probably isn't helping. Here's a pic from the same day with lighting more consistent with previous photos.

  6. 5 months in and feeling, honestly, discouraged. My crown seems MUCH thinner than when I started. First photo is from March which was about 6 weeks in, second is from today.

I’ve been taking the XYON Dut twice a week, Monday and Wednesday.
    Curious about everyone’s thoughts.

Your experiencing shedding? I haven’t experienced any, I’m also thinking of bumping it to 2x per week next week. What do you need edited? I’ll do it for you.  Our problem area is almost identical.

I haven't noticed a ton of hair on pillows or anything, but my crown APPEARS thinner. So, not certain about shedding.

I was just going to edit the OP with each update, so it's a chronological update in one post.

  8. 2 week update! Sorry for the inconsistent lighting.
Anyhow, this is 4 doses, as I've been doing twice a week, Mon and Fri.
It would appear there is already significant shedding. Guessing that's normal for only 2 weeks? Can't remember when I had it while using oral.

@Melvin- ModeratorI couldn't figure out how to edit OP to keep this updates in one block of the thread. Is that a thing?

Based on what I was told by Dr. Hasson, the results were better using it daily. Plus, the difference in DHT levels were very low. I think the prudent thing would be to start off on 1x per week, then gradually build up to daily use.  You could also do one month 1x per week and another month daily. That would be an interesting experiment, to see if there is any difference.

    That's my thinking as well.

Sure that ed is better but as I got sides from 0.01% standard alcohol topical fina I am a little scared with ed topical duta even with xyon liposomal gel... and as they say it works 1x a week I think it is better for me

yea I'm gonna start there too. Better for the wallet too! Hope it works out for both of us 🙂

Good luck! Have you previously had side effects on oral?

@BurnieBurnsso it's an interesting question because, yes and no. The entire 3 years I was on it, I didn't notice any side effects. HOWEVER, upon stopping last February, I had a month of ball pain, which, I should mention, my urologist linked more likely to all the pelvic floor / lower back muscle ache I'd been having. Finasteride withdrawal may have exacerbated an already existing pain. Hard to say but it went away after a month. The pelvic floor issue in general is ongoing.

As far as I’m aware its $99 per bottle, I believe its a 6 month subscription. I think you can pause the subscription if you don’t need as many bottles per month. I still haven’t received my bottle yet 🙁

@Melvin- Moderatorthe DUT is $129 a bottle. You may've misunderstood my question 🙂 I was more speculating on if XYON might offer a non-consultation cost because after a while I don't imagine we'd need regular consults with dermatologist, and if that cost is rolled in to the the subscription, it'd be nice to have a more affordable option for the long term.

  13. Just got my Dutasteride topical in the mail and started yesterday. I plan to start with 1 pump MWF for the time being and if no sides might move up to daily.
I'll use this thread to document progress each month. My focus is the crown, and here's where I'm starting.
@Melvin- Moderatordo you happen to know... XYON is saying the subscription costs include the dermatologist consults. I'm wondering if there is or will be an option without those costs when the need for consults lessens? Like, I'm on it in a year, can I reduce my cost and forego dermatologist?

    Anyhow here's the beginning!

In general, most who take fin report their testosterone goes up, this because it’s not being converted into DHT. But the reason why estradiol is important is to check if the testosterone is then converting into estrogen. So to me, these two are important. Total test is a marginal difference, free test is what matters since that’s what your body utilizes.

@Melvin- Moderatorwow, had no idea. I thought the opposite, hence PFS.

    I would test the following:

Total Test, Free Test, Estro, DHT, SHBG, prolactin. Depending on where you live this will be a bit more difficult as at least here in Toronto doctors are stiflers for giving out blood work for whatever reason, even though you pay for two of them. This is my original blood work testing below which I hope to repeat again soon before going on the Topical Dut:

    super helpful, thanks @TorontoMan!

@Melvin- Moderator I'm going to ask my doctor for hormone blood work this week and then I'll start the topical dut, I was wondering what frequency will you be taking it? Wondering if I should first start once a week and reduce my fin to maybe 0.5mg ed to try to better gauge what its doing on its own, though that isn't perfect.

@TorontoMan / @Melvin- Moderator I'm starting XYON Dut this week and going to get my hormones check via bloodwork as well. Can you remind me which tests are needed? Is it just DHT? Estradiol?

  17. Curious if anyone has gone ahead and started with HairClone? Dr Cooley's office is a partner, which is where I got my HT. I've been excited about this prospect since he told me about it. The cost was a bit more than I had anticipated on the front end. Figured the profit would've been made more on the "withdrawal" rather than the deposit, but I'm curious to hear thoughts.

I will say, with a newborn at home

@Melvin- ModeratorI'm in the same boat. Newborn born in November, and so I went off oral fin for the past year, coincidentally right before my wife got pregnant (not because we were necessarily trying haha). I was going off after 3 years of steady use (.25 3x week) to see if that might've been causing my low libido, and then decided to stay off during gestation.
My question for you is, if you're willing to answer, is your wife nursing?

I am anxious to try XYON now that baby is here, but my wife is breastfeeding and there is a clear warning about that. Wondering what your thoughts are if she is bf. Thanks!

Ahh I see, you’ve been on it for a while. It takes a couple of months for symptoms to subside once you get off I hear, which has been the case when I come off fin too. Definitely is a good idea to let a doc know just in case but it will most likely subside in time along with a reduction in other sexual sides.

Thanks for the feedback @futureresearch. So to clarify, these ball ache symptoms didn't begin until I started going down, and ultimately off fin altogether. Prior to that the sides were just a general low libido and lessened sensation in the groin area.
Did you ever have the ache or any of the symptoms START when you went off fin?

  20. 5 hours ago, futureresearch said:

For me the ball pain goes away even with continued use of finasteride. I think it is one of those things that occurs when your body first gets used to it. How long have you been on?

@futureresearchSo I've been on it for about 3 years. It was recently, within the last 2 or 3 months, that I started going down in the dosage (because of sexual sides) and am now off it altogether. Hoping the ache subsides. It's not unbearable, I'm just VERY aware of my perineum haha.
But also congruent to this feeling has been frequent urination. So I'm a little concerned that my prostate or something just enlarged as a reaction to going off Fin.
