  1. My hair loss in the crown & back of my head really accelerated after my two HT. I mean it was aggressive.
I wonder if this was due to the disruption of blood loss to the scalp after severing blood vessels in the scalp. I have no way of knowing if the acceleration of hair loss was natural or from affects of the surgeries.

Did this happen to anyone else after HT surgery?

  2. Kumar, Congrats on your HT with Dr. Alexander! I want to assure you that the swelling & mild pain you are experiencing is quite normal for 2 weeks & even a month post op. It will begin to subside before you know it.

Dr, Alexander is an excellent surgeon, so you have no need to worry.

The one thing that you can do to speed healing & avoind complications is to keep the donor area very claen. Don't be afraid to gently use your fingers with shampoo along the suture line to scrub it clean. I did mine twice daily.

So hang in there, be patient, keep it clean, avoid heavy lifting & you will be on your way!

Good luck & keep us posted.

  3. David,

First of all welcome to the forum. Second...don't panic!

Although shockloss is common, I'm not sure I have heard of a case where shock loss set in just a few days after surgery.

However, generally speaking, If the hair that was shocked was already in the miniaturizing stages, it may not reurn.

If the shocked hair was not miniaturizing it will likely grow back.

Also, HT can make your existing hair look pretty bad for while. So maybe you really haven't lost any, it just appears that way.

As for why you didn't recieve more grafts, this is something that should have been discussed with your surgeon prior to the HT. It could be that he determined that 2k grafts were all that you needed.

Hang in there, I seriously doubt you lost much hair just a few dfays after surgery.

    Keep us posted,

  4. Mrsundeep, I agree with Alvarez & Dutch about the meds.

You currently have miniaturizing outside the area that is going to be transplanted. You can predict that you will eventually loose more hair in the crown. At only 28 you will be chasing your hairloss with future transplants.

You should give the meds a try, since finesteride & minnoxidil work specifically in the crown you should respond well. As for sides...we are alldifferent & respond different. There are guys on the meds regimen for 10+ years with no problems. Then there are guys who can't get an erection after just looking at the pill bottle!

Another option woul be to go to good mega session surgeon who will transplant the entire crown including between the existing hair in the

areas that are miniaturizing. You would probably need 4,000 plus grafts for that procedure.

As you see there are other options, do some more research before you have any surgery.

Good luck & keep us posted!;)

This is only my opinion. I am not a medical Dr. & I do not represent any Dr.

  5. Hello futbol9,

I have not seen much of Meskin's work on here but I did have 2 HT with Dr. Alexander & couldn't be happier.

You are lucky to have no signs of hair loss in the crown.

2,300 grafts to fill in the front third & give you a nice hairline should work ot very nicely. Dr. Alexander creates some of the most natuarl hairline's in the world.

I'm sure it is hard choice but both Doctor's are recommended coalition surgeon's & you will be in good hands with both Doctor's.

Feel free to ask questions & good luck!
