  1. Here is my 1 month update. I think all transplanted hairs have shed. I can't say for certain as the transplanted hairs are placed in a diffused manner and I can't distinguish between my native and transplanted hairs.

    1) What do u think of the pics?

    2) I am still losing hairs in the donor region. Should be shock loss. Is it normal to still lose hair at 1 month post op?

    3) When can i expect shock loss to cease?

  2. Hi 1_ez_goer,

Thanks a lot for sharing your story. I am 26 yrs old and had a FUT with Dr.Hasson recently. I fear that I would be in the same boat as yours in about 10 years and I fear what my options would be then. I wish I had taken the FUE route as Seth put it, i would have a "shave down escape route".

Can anyone advise whether there is any way to repair the scar and make it look as normal as possible so that one can buzz down to either #0 or #1?

  3. Thanks for your inputs Dr. Glenn, Garageland & chris39.

I have a question on the precautions one should take while sleeping. what sleeping position is advisable when 1) staples are on, 2) the first 1-2 months, and 3) the next 4-6 months?

I am a side sleeper by nature. I am worried whether sleeping straight/sideways would put pressure on the scar and make it stretch.

Another option would be to angle your upper half of the body at 30-45 degrees and use a neck pillow to sleep. But I am worried whether this would cause the chin to chest tilt motion that one is asked to restrict.

  4. Thanks a lot for your response Doc :)

    I have two followup questions:

    1) If I understand correctly, restricting chin to chest movement would help the scar at the lower back head to not stretch. What other movements should I restrict to prevent the scar at the sides of my head from stretching. I have a huge cut that extends beyond ear to ear.

    2) How long would you advice one to restrict these movements?

  5. @thisguy1, I believe that by low/average density the doctor was referring to the number of FU per sq. cm. Thanks for pointing out that my average hairs per graft is below average. I didn't realize it until you pointed it out. Need to be careful with the grafts in the future.

@ifanyonecan, No, i did not ask the doctor to extract as many grafts as possible. The target was 3000 grafts. I am worried that the extra ~1500 grafts might put a dent in future transplants if necessary.

@JON86, thank you for sharing your thoughts...

  6. Hi all,

I am a 25 year old norwood 5 diffuse thinner. I've been loosing hair for the past 10 years. Though my hairline has been relatively same for the past 10 years, I've lost a lot on the top. I consulted with Dr.Hasson about a month ago. He suggested to increase the density by 3000 grafts and leave the hairline untouched.

I had below average laxity. On shaving the donor area, Dr.Hasson found that the density of grafts in a particular region was way higher than the rest. The doctor thought that the particular region was average density while the rest were below average. But it turned out that the region had above average density while the rest had average density. Thus 4424 grafts were harvested while targeting 3000 grafts.

    Here is my grafts breakdown:

    1559 single hair grafts

    2608 double

    257 3-4 hair grafts

I've attached the preop and graft placement pics...

    Please share your thoughts
