  1. Being as wet wounds heal faster could I fill the bottle my saline solution came in with water just to keep the area constantly moist? Or would it be pointless at that stage (5 days post op)
  2. Yes I"m very excited to how it progresses, I know they have 1 or 2 more signed up for the study but I"m not sure if they post here or not. They still have a few spots open so if others on this board want to take the plunge and get a transplant from top notch doctors with a huge discount we can follow them as well
  3. Great experience all around, I was nervous as hell of course but the tech staff, Dr Ron Shaprio, Dr Josephitis and everyone else involved made it so much easier. They created one half of my hairline with strip and the other half with FUE. I"m extremely happy with the hairline they came up with as well and the work looks really clean as far as I can tell. I was relaxed the whole time watching movies and/or listening to music while they doctors and their staff did their thing. They took a ton of pics so maybe Janna sometime when she is online can show some of them. I'm back at home today now and feeling pretty good, the strip scar doesn't feel too bad and the recipient area honestly feels great, that saline spray really helped a lot. I believe they got roughly 2300 grafts, just wanted to share with everyone! I"m looking forward to the coming months to see the progress
  4. well I imagine one of the biggest cons would be having to keep it a secret for the rest of your life, you couldn't tell anyone. What if you find the love of your life and one drunken night after many years together you confess and she comes to terms with the fact she's been caressing your pubes and kissing you and touching the pubes....I don't think many women would stick around after finding that out and I don't know if a lot would be interested if you were up front about the pubes on your face. What if you have a little too much to drink one night and spill the beans to even your best buddy, he would be hard pressed to keep something like that totally secret. It would spread around like wildfire the moment a 3rd party found out. I would go for scalp hair dude
  5. Dr Ron Shapiro and Dr Josephitis will be working together on my transplant
  6. Ha I have the same thing! I don't care about them cutting me open, excessive bleeding etc but I am worried about being stuck in one spot for the whole time and panicing lol. Good ole anxiety but anyways the doctor called me and I talked to him about it, due to me having a ride to pick me up he said he can give me valium and coax me through the day
  7. hopefully the drugs they give me will knock me out and I won't even be awake for most of it, I don't even care about the post op difficulties or ugly duckling phase at 2-3 months just please let me get through this surgery lol
  8. For example they take the grafts out first and are doing some stuff and it is down time for me, can I go to a different floor of the building far away and use the bathroom because I will be inevitably physically ill and anxiety ridden? What are your thoughts
  9. What's the best way to tell if a Norwood 6 is going to become a 7?
  10. I see Dr Bernstein has been working on it along with Columbia University, maybe they will be ready to experiment of people with low donor density soon!?
  11. hmmm I see, well that's a lot better than what I originally thought it would be, I remember posting photos here when my head was buzzed and people thought I was SOL (as did I )
  12. nice, yeah I have that retrograde alopecia so the bottom of the back of my head is thinning, there is just that one sweet spot in the back upper middle that luckily has stayed pretty well then, that was the number they gave it anyway
  13. From what I read from people online who have it a lot of them think it is related to mental illness, depression/ anxiety etc and has nothing to do with DHT
  14. I'm not worried about the pain too much but what if I have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the surgery!? If I was knocked out it would be so much easier
  15. that would be a lot less stressful lol, I'm more worried about the surgery than I am the recovery
  16. It's kind of short notice for me and I only have a week of vacation. I bit the bullet about 10 minutes ago and went and talked to my boss, was upfront about everything. He seemed interested and offered to talk to HR with if it would help WITHOUT disclosing to them the actual reason. He checked his calendar and there is open space for the timeframe my schedule is tentatively scheduled for. Just really glad he was understanding and I'm looking forward to the next step whatever it may be.
  17. I have to try and take time off here tomorrow and I"m debating on coming up with a story or just telling him the truth. He is bald too so maybe he would be intrigued lol
  18. I can't stress growing out your hair enough. My donor area looked horrible when I had my hair buzzed and posted the pic on this message board. Grew my hair out for a month and I have a clear good zone to take hair from even with the alopecia.
  19. I met with Dr Ron Shapiro and Dr David Josephitis a few days ago, from what I understand they were given a grant to perform a study that will use FUT on side to create a hairline on my basically bald front third of my head, and FUE on the other side to compare and hopefully confirm there is basically no difference. I feel very comfortable going through with this being as Shapiro Medical is so highly regarded and Ron Shapiro is referred to as the hairline guru. Just wanted to let you guys know!
