Choose a Dr part of the ISHRS.

They do not review any results. The Dr's listed are not all good there, far from it, some poor and mediocre ones among the decent usual names.

So for anyone looking in then carefully research whatever Dr that you're interested in. Just because somone pays a sponsorship fee doesn’t mean they can be relied upon as a decent Dr choice.

  2. The Dr is being very cautious in his approach, and rightly so. You are at risk of being in a worse position after a transplant. If you go in to it knowing the possible risks/outcomes then you would be able to find a Dr that would take you on.

Just be very careful on who you consult with, do you're homework and find out who is capable in cases such as your's. Be wary of anyone that will just accept you without careful consideration.

Thanks so much following up. I was about to book with Ziering before you guys messaged me.  I have a consult with dr Mohebi scheduled for January 2024.

I’m also trying to xyon topical finasteride based on recs from here. get sexual and urinary side effects if I take it daily but tolerable if I take it every other day. Any tricks on how to take the full dose and minimize the side effects. Also on minoxidil 10 mg orally.

Dr Ziering did one of my FUTs, and while it wasn't the worst case scenario it certainly isn't the best either. That was before coming here over a decade ago and learning he most definitely wasn't the greatest choice.

It's good you're here first and finding out who are the better Dr's are. It's always worth travelling to get the right one!

  4. 4.5 months is still very early. Most people will have the very start of growth at this point. Only a portion of the new grafts would have broken through the scalp, the rate of which really differs from person to person. If you can feel stubble or see some initial growth then that's exactly what's expected at this point.

Yes some will lucky enough to see early growth but this isn't the norm. You're just 2 weeks in to the initial growth for the majority. The following months are where you should see the most amount of growth happening.

  5. Those are typical graft numbers for Dr Keser, he's very good but also extremely careful when it comes to the cases and patients he takes on. I have always liked his work, but it's generally around the 2k worth of grafts.

A option for you would of course be to also consult with other Drs. Or as another idea you could go ahead with you're planned HT and then if you're still not happy with the crown then you could get another at a later date.

Hts are very rarely one and done, you could plan you're journey in 2 stages. Just a thought though, you may be keen to hit both areas in 1.

My first FUT was not a good experience in terms of graft count, which was supposed to be around 2000 in the frontal region. It was performed but Dr Blaine Lehr in Oklahoma City back in 2007. He is a dermatologist and had just started performing HT’s. I was naive and really just went to the closest clinic. Looking back, I don’t believe 2000 grafts were transplanted! I was on 1 mg oral finasteride for 3 years after the surgery. Fast forward to 2017 during which time my hair slowly continued to fall out, probably due to stopping finasteride but who knows. I then, after careful research , decided to go with Dr Arocha( recommend per this forum) in Houston .
2500 grafts( frontal and mid) with him and was really pleased with his communication with me post surgery. No finasteride after this surgery even though he suggested it and gave me a prescription for it.
Fast forward 6 years to 2023 and I decided to go with Dr. Scott Alexander(2500 frontal)in Phoenix. I researched some of his work on here and various other forums and felt confident going with him. My goal with Alexander was to get my crown filled in but at his consultation, my wife and the Doc suggested I thicken up my frontal region instead of the crown.
My hair now , is really thickening up and I will probably have one last surgery with Alexander to fill in the crown.

I think my case is a prime example of the necessity to take finasteride in order to keep the hair you have. I believe the transplanted hairs have stood  their ground but the surrounding native hairs kept falling out.

I am currently on 1 mg finasteride now for 1 year. My plan is to grow out my hair as it is thick and has natural curl.
Looking back at all this, I don’t believe the actual graft count promised was actually done. Do the math, 7000 grafts total , should cover a large portion of my head.

Exactly that, I don't belive they would have planted anything like 2k for you're 1st ht. Most people are lucky to get vast amount of grafts from FUT alone. I had 2 myself before moving on to FUE

How is the FUT scar after those 3 Hts? Did you find it had stretched at all?

I think this is the clinic I'm close to considering. I've seen a negative review over the span of several years but majority here and on reddit say he's good. I was quoted 2500 grafts.

I've posted here before and you all have been so helpful. Thank you.

I have seen Dr Yamans results for over a decade, and like any other Dr he does have the occasional miss, over harvesting has appeared to happen occasionally as well as failure to recreate temple points. You will find some other sub par work if you do a deep enough search.

However he's still a solid choice for those on a budget. Absolutely no Dr is free from those sub par procedures.

The amount of reviews you can find here from both the patient and the clinic themselves should give you a very good idea of what to expect.

  8. This is a interesting one... After already having 2 previous FUTs you have now gone for a 3rd and it seems to be paying off well.

However I was curious on how the previous FUTs were, did they initially show growth and a fair result? Or was the graft count quite low for them? Can you say who did the previous work?

It's good this is showing growth, I'm just not sure the 2.5k grafts in that area are enough. What's the long term plan? Switching to FUE

I'm also curious if you're on any med regime?

Everyone says FUE CAPILAR with Doctor GUR is the best route to go if you're on a budget but that clinic is number 6

How reliable is that website of reviews?

If you're on a budget then Dr Turan or Dr Gur can be considered. So can Dr Demirsoy or Dr Yaman, both of these have the occasional miss though. FUE CAPILAR is probably the most reliable when in comes to consistent results, especially for what they are currently charging.

As had been mentioned to you it's actual results you can see on forums like this which are the most important, full 12 month journeys by the patient themselves.  Ignore any ratings by websites which will have a vested interest, most likely market led and sponsored.
