  1. Hello, I had my HT in Istanbul last Tuesday. I've been following my doctor's instructions but I was wondering if anybody could care to share his experience to ensure that my recovery went well. I've started applying a lotion on transplanted area 30 mins prior to shampooing it off using shampoo provided by the clinic, I feel some painful sensation and have continued taking Paracetanol 500, but at the same time, I've been sleeping a lot. Like 12 hrs/day for the past 2 days or so (mainly due to jet lag). Any tips/suggestions in regards to sleeping? I've been sleeping on my belly as I don't wish to risk losing or damaging transplanted hair on crown area. Thank you.
  2. Just got back after getting the bandages removed. Thankfully, the transplanted area wasn't affected at all. Sleeping on belly for the next few days is gonna suck, though.
  3. He did give me a travel pillow, too. but he advised me to try to sleep on my belly but he'd told me if i didnt find it comfortable enough, id could try sleeping on my back using travel pillow. im really scared. I can't mention his name as he's been 'banned' from this forum.
  4. Hello all. I had a HT in Istanbul yesterday (crown area). 4000 grafts. I was advised to sleep on my belly. I was doing that till 1:30 or so..then i was up at 4 or so..to find myself sleeping on my back..there are some blood stains on the pillow and I'm freaking out! I've got a follow up visit in a few hrs... but im really worried
  5. Excellent advice, sl. It never occurred to me that I'd need to take button-up shirts! I was thinking about packing 4-5 crew necks and shorts!
  6. Thanks for your kind replies. I'm flying to Istanbul from Kathmandu on Sunday (7 hr flight) and got a transplant scheduled on Tuesday. Returning back on Thursday night instead of Wednesday to ensure I got extra day to 'rest' and also, to be 'near' the doc should anything happen a day after surgery. I'm getting the transplant around my crown area. Kinda nervous and a bit excited since this will be my first trip to Istanbul. Thank you again.
  7. Ah. I've been off both fin and minox for nearly 5 days now. Got surgery on Tuesday. Doc's told me I can start fin from Wednesday while I'll need to wait for a few more days before I can start Minox. Lets see.
  8. Hello, I've got a transplant scheduled (Istanbul) on Tuesday. Can I do sightseeing/walk on Wednesday or do people normally spend the next few days indoor? Also, any other tips? What to do/avoid etc? Thank you.
  9. After much debate and consideration, I'm flying out to Turkey in less than 2 weeks. I've got 4 nights in Istanbul (2 for touristy stuffs, 2 for HT). Those that have been to Istanbul, care to share your experiences? What are some must-do things. Also, can I go sightseeing the day after HT? Or am I supposed to lay down/rest for the next 2-3 days?
  10. I'd go for Erdogan if I were you. I'm Norwood 5-6 so I can't really afford to shell out 2 euros/graft. Hence I had to go with a different Turkish doc. Got a transplant in 2 weeks. Good luck to you!
  11. thx guys. Mr6435, apparently, taking minox/rogaine days prior to surgery can cause excessive bleeding. So many people have undergone HTs on here but nobody seems to share their experiences. Guess people have different agendas.
  12. He told me to stay off both 7-10 days prior to HT. But I was wondering if someone who's undergone HT had been advised something different.
  13. Hello all, Is there a protocol you need to follow before HT? Like stopping taking medications and what not? I've got my HT scheduled in Turkey in 2 weeks and I was wondering if I should stop taking Fin and Rogaine. Please share your experiences so that I could prepare better. Thank you.
  14. Mine is a Turkish doctor (mentioning his name will ensure that my post would need to get approved for some reason). He asked me to stay off Minox a week prior to surgery. That's all. Anybody else, please?
  15. So I've decided to schedule a HT in a month's time. Is there anything I need to be wary about? I'm currently taking Fin (1 mg), Minodixil 10% or Rogaine 5% (interchangeably), and Ketobath Shampoo. I was told by a local HT expert that I should be "off" everything 2 weeks prior to surgery. Please advise.
  16. Anybody know the difference in price between those three?
  17. Unfortuantely, Dr. Bhatti told me that I wasn't a suitable candidate for HT as he thought I seemed to have diffused hairloss. Good luck to you, though.
  18. I'm a 30 year old Nepalese man wishing to undergo hair transplant. Ever since I started taking minodixil (10%) and finasteride along with Ketobath shampoo, I've seen some "progress" in hairgrowth but during my follow up visits, I've been told that its most likely not going to be a long term solution. I went to a local hair transplant surgeon who also seems to be a plastic surgeon doing botox and what not. The quoted price is way cheap. 800 bucks for 3000 grafts (he thinks I'll need about 4200-4500 grafts). I've sent my pics to various docs - most of them seem to insist on similar number of grafts while Dr. Dua's rep got back to me saying I'll probably need around 6k grafts and I was suggested to go for a FUT - FUE combo (FUT first and FUE in 12 months time). I was leaning towards getting it done with Dr. Bhatti but he got back to me saying I seem to have diffused pattern and that doesn't make me a suitable candidate. I'd also thought about going with Dr. Radha but then, I decided against it because I really don't wish to walk around with a visible scar down the road, should I decide on going for a buzz cut look. I'm really torn as to what I should do next. This whole ordeal has left me depressing. If I were living back in the US, I'd have 'rocked' buzzcut look but since I moved back, going bald isn't an option (culture/family pressure et al). Like I aforementioned, I definitely wish to undergo hair transplant. I can't seem to figure out if I really have a diffused pattern like I was told by Dr. Bhatti. I also can't seem to understand my norwood level. Also, more importantly, would getting a transplant help me get thicker hair or will I have bald spots? I'm leaning towards Dr. Dua vs Endogan. or simply go with Dr. Radha. Here's a pic taken today. Say I went with a local Nepali doc instead, what would be the consequences if his work were poor. I mean, all things considered (location - Kathmandu vs India/Turkey, Cost - 800 bucks vs 3-8k), he doesn't seem to be a bad option.
  19. any reason why you're reluctant to share info on your doctor? I'm contemplating on whether to go to India or Turkey for Fue transplant.
  20. Hi techie, could you please kindly share your expectations from your transplant? I mean, are you expecting "full" hair around crown region? I'm in a similar situation and contemplating on whether to go with fue or fut.
