  1. I've been wearing a number of years and even in the last few years things have moved on a lot. Bases are softer and knots more invisible than when I started.

There are a few online places you can use, one of which I have been with for a while.

If you can cut in locally and maintain at home then the options are many.

Let me know if you need a suggestion.

I know a member on a different forum buying overseas (instead of his native India) due to lower costs. I was surprised. Is this still the case?

  2. Hi guys! So It looks like I'm in the same situation as many others, I went to look into total cover plus hair systems.

Went to Brighton to see if I would be able to get one, looked good but as many others have said I'm worried if I go ahead and it doesn't look the way I imagine I'm then forced to shave my whole head and be worse off than when I started.

The reason I'm posting is because I would like to meet some one that would let me look closely at those hair system.

I live near Gatwick airport - is there anyone on here that would be willing to meet with me? I'm happy to travel to you if you if your not hundreds of miles away.

Thank you! Would be nice to also chat with other guys that maybe feel pretty shitty about the whole hair loss situation.

Whats the length of your hair currently?

  3. Price and quality dont always follow. I have seen pieces costing over ?1500 and they are little better and probably worse than the ones I have purchase at ?250. Its all about how interested the supplier is in delivering a good product and the research you put in.

I wont name the expensive supplier but with their celebrity endorsements thats why they charge so much.

Equally, there is no one supplier the best at everything - but taken as a whole Im happy with my current supplier. uk hair systems - I have been with them for a few pieces and happy to stick with them as they give me the all round package I want. Top Quality & Affordable Hair Systems, Hairpieces, Toupees, Wigs, Hair Replacement Systems - Shipping UK and Worldwide.

mh2go and London hair clinic pretty much one and the same. Total cover plus is the lazy solution, but pricey and their pieces are nothing special.

  4. I started wearing about 5 years ago and I have no regret, although in the early days it was very much a steep learning curve without forums and youtube videos like today.

Hairpieces can work and equally they can look bad if you dont have the right team around you and attitude.

From memory London Hair Clinic provide different hair solutions - one being hair pieces. I got one from them early on. Throughout they were very rushed. The stylist cutting botched my cut in. I then spent the next 3 weeks trying to get them to put it right and they never did.

I undertstand the guy who was running LHC's pieces is the man behind menshairpieces.

Hendon Hair is ok but their systems are expensive. I have been using UK Hair Systems for 3.5 years.

  5. If you find find someone locally to cut it in then no reason why you cant buy online (provided they accept payment from and ship to your country).

Do US companies do that otherwise North West is popular.

I have used http://www.ukhairsystems.com for the last few years even when I have been in the middle east for work

I have sent you a private message.

  6. Will that not have a chance of coming off, e.g. in wind, rain, shower, exercise, if pulled, conditions?

I think clip on certainly have those risks. Tape and glue much less so.

Also do these not need to be specially maintained which could become costly?

I get by on 4 quid a month worth of products a year.

  7. you had an intense 3 hour workout with a system on your head......I don't buy it. Well let me rephrase. You might have done the work out, but you certainly would be reattaching or cleaning glue off your hairline after that.

    Ok you got me!!

It wasnt once, its been many occasions. In fact, I regularly go 5 times a week for 1.5 hour run/cycle without any problems AND I dont have to reattach the glue after it.

I notice no difference now and the times I wasnt active at the gym. I get a 3 week hold even if I do 15 gym trips.

Whether you buy it or not isnt important to me as I have no interest in those that want to where or not. Just passing on my experience, which I hope will help someone realise there are no ghosts (gremlins) in the machine when it comes to carrying on a normal (even more active) life than when you (general you) hide under caps fearful of society :)

  8. Ohkayy , 6 to 8 weeks wait to order it from toplace.com is long.

Is there any uk based website with as good quality systems for similar prices?

For custom it normally takes 6 to 8 weeks. If you order from USA you will need to add extra postage time on too.

I have been using these guys for a few years now

  9. Hello Grincher and trendsetter, thank you to both of you for keeping this tread alive.

I am from London UK. My scalp is almost bold, i have been using hairfibre for 3 years and now theres very little hair left for hair fibre, nobody has seen me with my lowest natural hair, everyone thinks i have short hair, so perhaps a good time to wear hair system immediately, I checked toplace.com forum its full of reviews. Also checked hairdirect.com

Canada and america have advanced systems, I am still doing little more research , and have questions in mind.

Would i be able to wash my hair in shower with the system on?

Usually after shower i apply oil in my scalp because its always very dry,i suffer from dry skin condition from birth, Would i still be able to apply oil through the system without loosening the glue?

Yes you can shower with the unit on.

You could go for a looser attachment on the back and sides and apply oil. Usually the front of the unit is the one area that must be secure.

You will probably need weekly reattachments as oil and glue are not best friends.

  10. These were the some of the questions I had, when I started researching hair systems up. Having used them for over a month now - here's my take

    1) The lace systems are very good nowadays, and it is almost impossible for folks

to notice you are wearing one!

    2) Having your hair combed back, it is difficult to notice. What I have observed though is after about 14-17 days, there is a slight lift - that's because the hold of the tape is decreasing and it's time to apply a new tape

    3) I have met a few of my friends after about a few years - and they did not notice my system at all!!

    Cheers

You have taken the hardest step and it sounds like its working for you. Well done!!

Now it should just get better and better.

I do recomend if you commit to wearing to get a spare piece and also think about skin even if its front skin and lace behind. Almost invisible!
