  1. Have you checked out the 'Find a Prescreened Physician' section up above on the webpage?   Any of those pre-screened Docs will give you an industry standard job - but finding a physician 'near you' should be the last consideration.  You are making a lifetime commitment to your most precious resource - your head.  Consider looking up and down the Eastern Seaboard and Go West, young man.  You need a wide array of choices to choose from.  There are some excellent choices - but as for advice, at this point all we know is that you are thinning on top - (that's a large area...) and not keen to travel.  Take some pics and post them here - you'll get a lot of comments AND advice on what you probably need and how best to achieve it from the Pros here!

You'll get some bonehead replies also...

  2. Melvin has suggested I re-introduce myself here as I have been away for a while and there are a lot of new faces around.  If you're interested in the journey of a 70 year old man who Finally decided at 64 to get a HT, read on.  Firstly, I love giving advice and encouragement to anyone who seeks it and I will always try to elicit a raised eyebrow or smile when possible.   I have had two (2) HT's and from the onset I knew that I had to react to my age - and not try to recreate my 17 year old self -  and present my appearance as a mature man with age appropriate hair.  Recognizing that I do not have the available grafts or the time to create a picket fence of lush hair 3 inches above my eyebrows -  I wanted to create a guy who has a mature hairline, (I have always had a high forehead)  a bit of recession, but overall a basically non-noticeable head of hair.  Alas, my hair is Thin and Light Brown/Blonde/Grey - not a good combo for a Hair Surgeon to work with - but no one has ever accused me of having any work done.  The work isvery natural.  I am quite happy with my hair and looking back at what I started with I have no reason not to be.  I could afford another if I wanted to but I'm giving my head a rest - and at my age a lot of parts need rest.   2400 FUT grafts into the front in March 2014,  2500 FUT into the front , midscalp area and a bit in the crown in April 2016.  Here is a pictorial map of the trip.Keep in mind, I'm somebody's Great Grandpa!

  3. I think there is a difference between 'bargain hunting' and 'lowest cost' choices.  The 'Bargain Hunter' should have in mind the final outcome and studiously compare and decide where to get a HT within his budget range , and the 'Lowest Cost' guys will be motivated by the cost only and convince themselves they will succeed.    There are reputable clinics ($$) in Turkey that are not 'mills', and then there are the other 'untested' places ($) - and then there are recognized first class places ($$$$) also all over the globe.   Educating yourselves and knowing the risks should always be forefront and price then a careful consideration-  but not the deciding factor.

If price is the only deciding factor - you will probably receive due value.

  4. Since Donor Hair is removed from it's original position on your head, that place is now barren - it does not regenerate.  This is why in the hands of a skilled artistic Hair Surgeon, the missing hair is unnoticeable.   In FUT, the scar should be extremely thin and in an area that will be covered by surrounding growth and in FUE they are spread out among the jungle of hair that surrounds it.
