  1. hi all, im getting smp done soon and wondering whether clippering down to a 0 every few days is short enough to blend with the pigment? thanks
  2. Hey all, I'm getting SMP soon and wondering whether clipping to a 0 is short enough to blend with the pigment? Thanks
  3. Anyone have any experiences with Pigmentalia? Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks, Ryan
  4. I meant shaving would be the last resort. For instance, if I was left with bald spot which could not be covered as I had run out of donor hair then I would get these filled in with SMP then would shave head. I agree it would be pointless to get a HT then razor shave. I essentially want a low density HT to add three dimension to the SMP.
  5. Thanks for your response. If combining SMP and HT I don't think as many as 2000 grafts would be used at the front to frame the face. Instead I would want to spread the grafts over as much area as possible. This would be combined with smp to create the illusion of density. The HT would also be particularly important at the front as im not entirely convinced by the realistic nature of the hairlines created by smp (its 2d). Contrary to your opion, I think the shaven smp effect is the solution is all fails with HTs. I.e if I run out of donor hair to cover balding. In this case I would just shave my head. The tricopigmentation which is temporary scalp micropigmentation is what I would use.
  6. Also do Hasson & Wong and Shapiro medical group just provide strip hair transplant or FUE also? I dont want a scar showing if im to have hair so short...
  7. I'm fine with keeping it quite short all over, I just don't want to be sporting the slick shaven look just yet. This is why Im keen to combine smp with HT. Ive contacted Prohairclinic however they do not take on any patients under the age of 26. I understand the age argument but surely this strategy makes it less of an issue? Also Im a clear on this risks: that is losing so much hair that I need to shave every off into my scalp. At that point would I utilise SMP and sport the shaven look. Therefore why do not practisoners concern themselves so much about the risk? I am 23 and would like some form of hairstyle. In 10-15 years time I'm sure the idea of shaving my head and SMP will not be as much of an issue.
  8. Many thanks for your response. Throughly informative.
  9. Is it less effective to have multiple small hair transplants? If so why? And also is the difference between FUE and strip?
  10. Have you seen the effect cause by miniaturised hair sitting on a pigmented scalp. Could this not look odd. Especially considering miniaturised hair is a lighter shade.
  11. I don't believe so as the pigmentation does not goes as deep into the scalp as a hair follicle
  12. Can SMP be used to improve the appearance of miniaturised hairs?
  13. That makes sense. I'm just 23 years old, and understandably this makes me an unsuitable candidate for a hair transplant. Do you think a HT surgeons would be more will to peform a hair transplant (low density) combined with SMP? In theory less grafts would be used but the appearance of density would remain. I have seen an impressive example of this.
  14. May I ask why it is better to have the hair transplant first?
  15. Hello there. I am also considering a similar strategy although I would like some hair transplanted to the front as well as the crown. Have you had the procedure yet?
  16. HI all, I am aware that I am not an ideal candidate for a hair transplant due to my age. I am only 23. However I'd like hear people's opinion on this proposed idea: Dr Glen Charles suggested that: 'It would be possible to place 1800-2000 follicular unit grafts in the frontal forelock region to help frame your face which may help to give you a more youthful appearance." However I am also balding/thinning at the crown (scale is very noticeable) as well as the entire top of my head. I am interested in combining SMP, to create the appearance of more density on the top. I would like to combine this with a low density hair transplant to create a hair line (as the downside of SMP in my opinion is the unrealistic nature of the hairline) and also at the crown. I'm not sure exactly how many grafts this would require. I realise that my donor area needs to be reserved however I am keen to improve my hair situation especially as a young man. Some feedback would be much appreciated. Would this be a suitable option or an unwise move at my age? This is a great example of SMP and HT being combined to create great results: **outside link removed**
  17. Hi guys, The contact skin sounds great in theory and I'm looking to get my first one in a few weeks time. I'm impressed that they say the contact skin is 'breathable'? Is it really? The only reason I query this is because other skin based systems from other companies aren't breathable. Also, is the front hair as good as they claim? I've heard that in order to get a really good natural looking front hair line a lace base system is necessary. Thanks, Ryan

  19. Hi all, I have hair loss at the temples, as well as the crown and front of head. It is the thinning at the temples which I'm most puzzled by. Firstly I'm only 22 however I thought male pattern baldness wasn't suppose to affect the back and sides? Is hair at the temple not supposed to be donor hair i.e hair that you don't lose. Furthermore, is it possible to have hair transplanted to the temples? Thanks, Ryan
  20. Thanks for your responses. Thinking of going down the hair system route and bide my time, fingers cross for ground breaking changes in the technology.
  21. Hi all, Is there any chance that propecia may have made my hair loss worsten? Seems to have thinned and restricted the growth of hair which was previously not affected.
  22. Hi guys, Just wondering does Propecia only come in 1 mg pills or is there anything stronger? Not really seeing much benefit to the drugs. Nearly a year gone by...
  23. Fair enough. 4 years seems like a long time to wait for me.
  24. yeah you're probably right. will upload some more photos
  25. Hi all, I'm 22 years old now and have been balding for the last 4 years at least. I'd say I'm at 4 on the Norwood scale now. I've been told I'm not a suitable candidate for a HT due to my age. I'd like to try to generate some discussion on age and HT's. I understand that obviously as I have had hair loss at the age of 22 that there is a significant chance that I will become very bald as I get older. However I'm on propecia aswell as using rogaine twice a day. I thought this was to effectively stop further hair loss, so surely the danger of losing so much hair that a HT for me now and possible further HT's in the future is not possible. As a 22 year it's a bit demoralising becoming 'bald' and a HT at this age would mean a lot to me. I accept that for someone of any age its a great thing but especially for someone in my predicament. Surely there is someway around this? I hope to hear some other people opinion and knowledge on this topic. Many thanks, Ryan
