  1. Seems a poor result and very sorry for you.. I myself was all set to go with Dr Bhatti, but with some of the results I'm seeing lately I may forgo that option.
  2. I totally agree too.. I know I will lose more hair beyond 32, but looking at my current state and my family history I doubt I'll ever go much higher on the norwood scale.. But as you guys said nothing is certain with MPB
  3. I'd like to be able to style a bit like this in case you missed it. Would 2200 grafts be enough? What you think? I'm thinking of going with Dr Bhatti.
  4. Thanks very much for all the very helpful responses!.. If you can believe it virtually no one has any idea that I have any hair loss at all.. in fact, I often get complemented on my thick dark 'full' head of hair. The way I get away with it is keeping the sides very short, styling with hair spray and camouflaging the corners (as you can in the image below). Unfortunately, wind/rain can make me a bit anxious for obvious reasons. I'd like to be able to style my hair more or less like in this image but without having to make such an effort of hiding my true hairline. I'm hoping 2200 will be sufficient. Hopefully showing you the sort of hair line I'm after makes my initial question a little easier to answer..
  5. Thank you for the reply.. I have ruled out propecia as I'm pretty paranoid about the possible side effects regardless of how rare they are. Secondly, my hair loss has been very slow and stable over a long period and looking at my family history I doubt I'm going to lose a significant amount more. That being said, I'd gladly consider an additional transplant in the future if needed.
  6. Been told by a leading surgeon recommended on this site that I'll need about 2200 grafts to fill in my corners and create a more youthful hairline. Does that number sound about right? I have no loss anywhere else and doubt I will looking at my family history. 32 year old male not taking meds. Would value your thoughts as I'm really close to taking the plunge. Cheers.
  7. Well I've certainly never ever heard of it being caused by the reasons you say so that's interesting.. No I haven't tried those drugs and I dont want to go down that road
  8. Thanks for your reply...I think the issue for me is that it's in the recipient area though
  9. Hi guys, ive posted a number of times over the past few years about my frontal hair loss. I'm almost 33 now and feel that I'm at the point where I'd really like to get an FUE transplant in the corners. Unfortunately, I Also suffer with the affliction of psoriasis which I have had since I was 19. If you don't know what it is it's a genetic skin disorder for which there is no known cure. I have a minor case, but in the past year it's spread onto a very awkward area...my hairline. I didn't think it would be an issue in regards to getting a transplant, but the surgeon I recently contacted told me that it contradicts the surgery and I may not be suitable which is very disappointing.. Has anyone here had a transplant when they have psoriasis on the scalp/hairline? Any advice/info would be a great help. Cheers
  10. Hi everyone, Well its been almost 3 years since I started this post. I recently turned 32 and can now undoubtedly see some significant thinning behind my already recessed corners. The funny thing is that with clever styling I can still conceal my hair loss almost completely, however I feel it is only a matter of time until I have no where to hide anymore. It's not if I want a transplant but when... In some ways I feel now would be an ideal time as at this point virtually no one really knows that I have hair loss, however, if this is the case sometimes I feel maybe I should still wait a few more years As discussed earlier in this post and http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/171541-norwood-3-how-many-grafts-needed.html hairloss in my family is not that extensive. No hair loss on my mother's side and only some front and temporal loss on my fathers which my pattern appears to be mirroring. My older brother (now 52) still has similar hair loss to that of a few years ago (norwood 3 see last picture). I know there are no guarantees with hairloss but I am sure I will end up just like him. In regards to treatment, I was using rogaine foam in 2013, but after 6 months I stopped as it was a hassle and I was not seeing any improvement. I have never been on Propecia and plan to avoid it at all costs. I'd be really keen to hear anyone's thoughts on my situation? What would you do? Am I a norwood 3 now? Do you think I am a good candidate for a FUE transplant at this point? If so how many grafts do you think I would need? PS sorry about the bad light in some of the photos but I think they still give a decent indication of my hair loss. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Great to be back
  11. Hi Guys… I was just wondering… When you send photos to a hair surgeon and ask for an estimate on the number of grafts that you need, is it a good idea to specify what norwood level you want to be restored to? Norwood 0, 1 or 2? If you don’t specify is there a standard level that most surgeons aim restore to? This all just hit me after one surgeon I contacted mentioned restoring my hairline to a norwood 0 which is certainly the last thing I would want.. I don’t want to look like a little kid. I’d appreciate your thoughts… Thanks Ricky
  12. Hey guys I am just wondering if anyone has had a transplant to their hairline (corners in particular), and then had thinning behind it somewhere down the line… Does it look terrible when this occurs? and are you able to disguise it until you wait for another transplant? Does anyone have any pictures they can show me of how this would look? This is really my main fear of going ahead with an FUE operation as I am not on and will not go on propecia. Thank you
  13. Thanks for your response... You say I a look a norwood 2 but isn't a NW2 the same as mature hairline? I'm sure I'm past that point and I can see shedding
  14. Thanks all for the replies! I just started using rogaine foam a week ago and this is the first time that I have ever used any kind of meds.... I know Propecia would probably be much more effective but I just cannot bring myself to take the risks that come with it.... Do you think rogaine itself could be enough to keep my hair how it is?
  15. Hi I just have a couple of quick questions.. I’ve posted on the main board a couple of times before about my receded corners and asked people’s opinions about getting a FUE transplant… My plans on taking it any further have kind of stalled for the moment though.. Anyway my brother who is 49 (Nearly 50) sent me a recent picture of himself the other day I was pleasantly surprised that his hair loss wasn’t as bad as I thought.. He used to have long hair which made his corners look very bad, but he has shaved his head and I think it makes his corners look less receded. I know there is no guarantee that I will turn out the same as him, but I feel it is very likely looking at my current state at 29… Would you say my brother is classic norwood 3 pattern? If this is how he looks at 50 is it likely that this could be the end of his hair loss? How much more hair would he have lost than me would you say (in terms of grafts)? How many Grafts would you say he would need to get back to a NW2? As you can see I did some horrible work in ms paint to see how he might look with a lower hairline.. but I probably totally misplaced It anyway. Thank you Ricky
  16. Hi, As I have already posted I am thinking of getting FUE to fill in my corners (I’m 29 and NW3). I sent my pictures to a few highly respected doctors and each one has replied saying I need a different number of grafts ranging from as little as 600 up to 2000 grafts… How is one meant to decide which route to take? Also is it normal procedure to book surgery online rather than to personally meet with a surgeon for an initial consultation? Is it enough for a surgeon to just look at pictures over the internet and then for the patient to just turn up for surgery? Thank you, Ricky
  17. Thanks for the replies guys... Again I'm surprised to hear that people are saying I would need 2000 grafts for what I believe to be quite minor recession.. Anyway I have been doing a lot of thinking and have decided that I am going to put any HT work on hold until at least my early 30's. Looking at my family history it looks inevitable that I will slowly recede more, and without Propecia I feel it may not be such a good idea to get anything done right now... If styled properly I can still get a way with people not noticing my loss loss at the moment.. Until that day ends I think I will just hold out.. and yes I certainly wouldn't want my hairline restored to anything lower than a mature hair line.... I hope your transplant turns out how you hope BlackAmish111
  18. Thanks for your reply but can you please explain how my father would be norwood 5 at least? I don't understand how you come to that... Yes he has receded badly at the corners but the forelock is still in place (albeit looking a little thin) and he has no hair loss at the crown what so ever. How is that a norwood 5 which apparently looks like this?
  19. Sorry to keep bumping this guys but I just have a couple more questions... As I said I am strongly considering going to see Dr De Reys in Belgium to get 1000 grafts for my receded corners. Although there isn’t a great deal of his work online I am very impressed with what I have seen and I can’t seem to find a bad word written about him. I do find it interesting though about only needing 1000 grafts when many on here said i'd need 1500 - 2000.... So I might make a few more enquires with others such Dr Bisanga before taking the plunge. I know many of you recommended that I should also consider some preventative measures (Propecia) but looking at my family history of hair loss i think I might be able to get away with it (slow and not too extensive). Is this fair to say or am I being naive? I was also wondering if you could give me your opinion on my father’s hair loss. He is 71 and his hair has been like this ever since I can remember. I'm asking as I believe that it is more than likely that this will be my final pattern too and I'd like to have some idea of how many grafts I could be looking at over my life. (My 49 year old brother is basically the same pattern as this as well which gives even more evidence). Would you say he still a norwood 3? How many grafts do you think would be needed to restore his hairline? Thanks again.. RIcky
  20. I sent an email with my pictures to Dr De Reys in Belgium and he told me that I would only need 1000 grafts to fill in the corners which is good to hear... Might look into it... Only 3000 euros which seems very reasonable and I've read numerous good reviews about him...
  21. Don't you worry that you may start thinning behind the transplant? That's my biggest fear really... Having to live like that for however many months/years... So you think I am still a norwood 2 or have I past that point now?
  22. Thanks Matt! How have things been for you on propecia? results and side effects? You have an interesting dosing regime I see? Ricky
  23. Thanks for being so kind and taking the time to reply I really appreciate it. I am not taking propecia as simply I am just too afraid. I have experienced severe sexual side effects from anti-depressants in the past, some of which took months to recover from and the thought of having any side sexual effects (permanent or not) is not something which I am prepared to deal with. I am surprised to hear that I may need as many as 2000 grafts just for what I believe to be a relatively small area of recession but of course I’ll take your word for it. If it was simply a matter of getting an FUE done now I would definitely go for it… But if I’m not on propecia and lose more behind I can imagine it will look very odd… sigh I guess as depressing as it is I maybe just need to wait to if and when my hairline any recedes more… Which reminds me of my final question… Do you think there is any chance that this will be the extent of my recession and that it will stop dead in its tracks? Or is it a near certainty to continue? RIcky
  24. Hi Guys I am 29 year guy from the UK who is experiencing what I believe to be frontal hair loss. Both my father (70) and older brother (45) have advanced norwood 3 patterns (No balding on the top or the crown at all, just at the front with a persistent forelock) so I guess it isn't really a surprise that the same pattern looks to have started in me. To give you some idea I found this picture on line which looks a bit like my fathers ... http://www.baldingblog.com/photos/070223_widows3.jpg (My father's is probably slightly worse than this). Even as a teenager I had highish temple corners which I was very conscious of. I have always tried to style my hair in a way which covers the corners, but it is only the last year or so that I have noticed miniaturisation and further recession which I believe is beyond a mature hair line. At this point it still isn't really noticeable to people if I style my hair forward but it still bothers me a lot in side (I am very vain) and I'd like to do something about it if possible. So what would your advice be at this point? Should I wait until I recede further or could I have a small FUE transplant now of say 1000 grafts, and then get further transplants in the future if and when they were required? I am almost certain that I will never go bald anywhere else on my head as all males in my family tend to follow this deep norwood 3 pattern, so I assume donor hair would not be a problem? Taking propecia is out of question for me so I guess it's a transplant or nothing. What would you do in my shoes? Please give me your honest opinion. Thanks Ricky
