  1. I was listening to the doctor who was doing the experiments with acell and plucking hair. And he said there was another doctor who would experiment by transplanting plucked beard hair into the scalp and he'd have low success rate even with the plucked beard whiskers without any acell. Since there was a limited survival rate even without acell, I'm guessing if acell were used on the beard whiskers there might be an extremely high survival rate and thus donor from the beard area would be unlimited. I don't know. What do you guys think?
  2. there's no way your penis got smaller cause of propecia. I don't buy it.
  3. i understand that transplants may result in a see through look if the balding is extensive with limited grafts. But if a person has limited to mild balding and great donor characteristics, isn't it realistic to expect that the person will have a convincing full head of hair (even though it isnt at pre-balding densities) after the transplant? I still don't have any real loss and have what most would call a "full head" of hair thanks to propecia. But I have great donor characteristics (my donor gets EXTREMELY thick if grown out). I'm just trying to analyze if I should begin saving for a HT now in 10 years when I'm around 32 if I were to lose and whether or not I'd be happy with the results since I'd only want to do it if the results are convincing.
  4. I'm just wondering. How often does a hair transplant look like a convincing full head of hair even under strong lighting? Does that happen very rarely?
  5. After examining it this morning after a shower, I've come to the conclusion it's maturing, not fully mature. I shaved off some of the non-miniaturized hair, and the middle part of my hairline is still in its juvenile position. Once the middle part goes to it's mature position (if it does), the recession on that side with miniaturized hair i buzzed off won't look as deep.
  6. Receded in a MBP way or mature hairline way. Though i do think i shaved off a little more than necessary in the miniaturized part.
  7. also, here's my temple/hairline corner (whatever) with the miniaturized hair un-shaved
  8. Looks like it is going to be tough. Quite frankly I am still confused on the whole propecia thing. You'll have doctors say that it may "reverse the balding process in the young male" and at the same time say it only works to slow the loss. Which is it? If it's reversing the balding process, isn't that more than slowing the loss? My hairline has been the same since I was 18 with the same miniaturization on my right hand side of my temple--once it's gone, one side of my hairline will be in prototypical v-shape mature hairline form. I'm surprised it isn't gone yet. Started taking propecia in january of this year and my hair has been the same. I did not even have a shed, not even on the right side where I have miniaturized hair in the temples. Also, one thing I don't like about my hairline is it has the "feathered" look when I flip my hairline up to style it. I hate the feathered look and wish to get rid of it. I like very thick looking hairlines. I am now going to be adding rogaine and 5% topical spiro to my regimen. And If I could, I'd switch to avodart instead of propecia. I've taken 3 pills of propecia in a day just to see how it'd impact my libido, and not any kind of difference. Anyway, I am very serious about staying on meds for life (not like I have much of a choice considering my family history anyway). Between Propecia, Rogaine, topical spiro ( I know doctors debate its effectiveness), and future treatments such as histogen down the road, I don't think I am in any real trouble of progressing toward a NW7 or even a NW6. I'd still like to get the procedure done if it is possible, as I know I wouldn't need many grafts, but I would settle for just allowing to let a doctor see my scalp and map it and give me an honest opinion as to what I should do. One thing is for sure though, I hate the "mature" hairline look and the big foreheads I see on many hair transplant patients because of their hairlines being placed in the "mature" position. Even if I were to lose future hair that would require a transplant to restore, I still would not settle for the "mature" hairline position. I'd insist on it being lower than even my current hairline. I'd rather have a lower-thicker hairline and a slick-bald crown than a mature hairline with a thin crown after hair transplant procedures if I were to ever progress to a NW6 or NW7 anyway. I'd like a hairline like either of these. Then I can buzz my hair short (as I'd prefer to do), and not have to worry about growing my hair out and styling it every morning in a way that covers my temples.: or like this
  9. thing is I like having my hair short. And I hate having to grow my hair out to style it in a way that covers my temples. I hate the mature receded (even though my hairline hasn't fully matured) look and it doesn't look right on me. I'd be happy enough to have my 14 y/o hairline and continue buzzing it down even if my hair loss were to progress even while on meds.
  10. Say, sparky, based on my pics, how many grafts do you think I'd need? Like 600? Dr. Cole looks good, too.
  11. Thanks for the reply. I don't know about Armani. He is too expensive. I'm liking what I'm seeing from Dr. Keser so far. Problem is he's in the middle east (i think). I'm the US. I think I'd only need like 600 grafts anyway.
  12. See more info on me here: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/156912-so-what-do-you-guys-think.html I wanna change it so it is more straight. I'm tired of having to style my hair in a way that artificially makes my hairline look straight. I don't give care if I run out of grafts in case of future loss--i'll wear a piece and or take my chances with the possibility of new treatments. I plan on being on propecia, rogaine, and topical spiro for life, so I doubt i'd progress far anyway. I want a FUE, and I want it lowered to how it was when I was 14. Are they any transplant doctors willing to do so?
  13. axe makes some pomade that can do this. I forgot the name, but it has a purple label. Another gel I use. Personally, I use this: http://www.amazon.com/Short-Sexy-Packaging-16-9-Ounce-Bottle/dp/B000EM79QM/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_1 Just make sure your hair is a little wet when applying. I usually blow dry my hair first (to add volume) then put a little water all over, then I add the gel.
  14. My dad was a NW1 until 32. He's a NW6 now. Biggest reason I'm concerned is my family history.
  15. Both of my grandpas are bald. My dad is a NW6. All my uncles are between nw4-nw7s, besides one who is keeping a NW2 into his 50s. I'm 20. Been on propecia 6 months. No sides. I'm wondering if it is worth it for me to stay on it. Let me know what you guys think. Hairline at 10: Hairline at 14: Hairline at 17: Now, my hairline at the current age of 20. Please ignore the density in some of these pics. Some of them make it look like my hair is thinning, but it's not. it's just the hair being so short + weird lighting/angles. pic of my hair at 20 grown out:
  16. I would get beard hair implanted there if I planned to keep my hair really short for the rest of my life. Anyway, a thicker (even unnaturally thick) hairline looks better on a buzz-cut look than a natural hairline, IMO. I put a pic of my favorite rapper. His hairline is also awesome for a guy pushing 40. He's still a NW1.
  17. obviously he doesn't have MBP, but he wants it lowered. He doesn't like his natural hairline.
  18. the ultimate sign of defeat in a debate: the non-response response have a good day
  19. Why do you keep talking about my comment on long hair? That's what I think of the look. What does it matter? Seriously are you that bothered by me thinking that? Even if a person isn't a homosexual or metrosexual, that is still what I think about the look. I hate the look. The castration thing makes plenty of sense. If he wanted to lower his hairline, they only way he'd know he wouldn't look like a freak down the road because of hairloss would be to castrate himself, so I was essentially saying having his hairline lowered is very risky and that he shouldn't bother. What don't you get about it? The beard hair implant comment was just throwing ways out there he could have his hairline lowered and still have all his grafts in the future in case of future hair loss. At this point, what other options does he have if he really wants his hairline lowered? To just lower it and just hope hair multiplication is out by the time if/when he needed another transplant? Fish Oil will not prevent hair from falling out, PERIOD. Link me to one REAL study where fish oil can prevent hair from falling out. Besides, you presented it here as if it would help with MBP. You did not even provide a source for your quote, and I doubt the source has any real credibility.
  20. What did I say that was incorrect? At his age, no one knows if he's gonna lose more hair or not. So if he wanted to lower his hairline now, the only way he'd know he wouldn't lose more hair would be to castrate himself. I'm just trying to point out how risky it is for him to lower his hairline. That is my opinion on long hair. And the Umar thing, so what? At least then if he ever lost hair, he'd still have all the grafts in his donor area to get coverage everywhere else. That quote says fish oil prevents hairloss. Most people come here because they're losing their hair from MBP, and someone reading that would assume they could use fish oil to treat their MBP. Criticizing you for it is more than fair as it could lead someone down a wrong path treatment wise. Excuse me, but Hairthere attacked me first and said I should get more educated first. If he didn't start it, I would have never said anything to him.
  21. who are you to tell people to educate themselves? Especially after you just stating fish oil prevents hair loss from MBP. I don't even know who you are, and you are telling me to grow up. I'm not the one here acting all superior intellectually and acting all condescending. If anything, you need to grow up.
