  1. This is most likely "ridging" or hypertrophic (raised) scarring as a result of making the recipient sites.
  2. Ugh... so jelly as the kids say. The transition from his natural hairline to the transplanted zone is seamless, no mismatch in density.
  3. Been using generic finasteride from various manufacturers for at least 5 years up until a few weeks ago. For the first few years, my hair held steady and hair loss slowed. However, I noticed that within the last couple of years my hairline has definitely retreated and thinning all over. Recently I made the switch to branded Proscar to see if there is any marked difference.
  4. As a proof of concept, clearly Umar has demonstrated that body hair transplants have a place. But cosmetically speaking, it does not look particularly natural. It would be interesting to see how this buzz cut style can be improved with SMP, which would help with the illusion.
  5. I had FUE, and post op I had MAJOR diffused shock loss everywhere on my head. My hair was coming out literally in clumps, and I decided to get a buzz cut because it was a little too traumatic to witness. I looked worse than pre-procedure. But it did recover (i think).
  6. Agreed! Those hairlines are killer. From what little information I can gather, he is quite known in Asia and probably isn't desperate for publicity or patients.
  7. Hey Mickey, I don't know if you've mentioned it before, but aside from the unfavorable scar, how was the actual cosmetic result of your transplant? Scar notwithstanding, how do you feel about the recipient area?
  8. Hey Everyone, My question is in regards to people's experience with hair transplants during an episode of heightened shedding (telogen effluvium). I recently had a FUE hair transplant procedure on 1/2/2013 and experienced massive shedding post op. Leading up to the surgery, I was going through an intense period of stress due to personal / family issues. During the 4-5 months before my surgery, I noticed that my hair was shedding at a ridiculous rate, clearly much more than the oft quoted 100 hairs/day normal range. It was a really rough period in my life. I'm concerned because during the first 3 weeks after surgery, my native hair was shedding in clumps (incredibly traumatizing). I looked worse than before surgery, and I was really starting to second guess my decision. On one particular day, a clump of hair practically the thickness of my pinky finger fell out within a few hours. Needless to say I freaked out. Anyways, I've read on Rassman's blog that transplanting during a period of TE could potentially cause a poor result. From what I've read, this intense period of stress could have caused hairs all over the head (even from the permanent zone) to go into miniaturization. I'm at 3 months post op, and I see some growth but it is extremely sparse (to be expected at this stage). Does anyone think that intense shedding post op, coupled with bad shedding leading up to the surgery, can pose serious problems with the final outcome?
