This patient came in yesterday for his 6 month follow up after receiving 2000 FUE grafts to his vertex. These cases are often the toughest in getting adequate coverage, and care was taking in recreating a right sided whirl in his crown. Shown are before wet photos, immediate after photo, and dry 6 month post-op photos. I also included his dry before photo, but some of the hair combed over obscures the hair loss pattern. He is stable on finasteride, and all grafts were harvested and placed by the physician.

This gentleman came in yesterday for his 6 month follow up after receiving 3000 FUE grafts concentrated in his frontal forelock. Noticeable thinning still exists in his posterior midscalp and crown. At the moment he is happy with the restoration in the front, but maybe considering a future procedure in the back. His loss has been stable for the past 10 years without finasteride. All graft harvested and placed by the physician.

This patient is a one year follow up who came in today after receiving 2000 FUE grafts in a one day session. His goal was to populate the frontal forelock and hairline only. He had two previous FUT procedures in a neighboring state with poor growth. His concern was that he had heard that FUE has poorer graft survival that FUT, and was initially reluctant to undergo FUE. He is pleased with the results at one year, and is considering a modest vertex procedure. All grafts harvested and placed by the physician.

This patient received 3000 FUE grafts focused in the frontal forelock and hairline. It was the first step in a two step process, and this past week he had his second surgery to fill in the lateral humps and midscalp. Photos are before and six months post-op of the first procedure. All grafts harvested and placed by the physician.

Modest hairline procedure for this patient with stable hairless over the last 8 years. 1500 FUE grafts were harvested with a "no shave" procedure in which we did not clip down the entire donor area. Grafts were placed in his hairline and bilateral apex areas. Shown are before photos, one year post-op photos, and hairline close ups. All grafts harvested and placed by the physician.

This gentleman presented to our clinic one year ago with the goal of re-establishing his hairline and frontal forelock, with the specific desire to keep his hair clipped very short. 2000 FUE grafts were used in his frontal forelock to obtain this goal. Attached are his before photos, immediate after photo, and one year post-op photos. His hair loss has been stable for many years and he declined finasteride treatment.

Here is a six month follow up on a patient with hair loss stabilized with finasteride, and we grafted 2000 FUE grafts into his frontal forelock and hairline. 0.85 Vortex surrounded punch was used for extraction, and Hans Lion Implanters used for graft placement. Photos include before, immediately after, one month post-op, and six month post-op. All grafts harvested and placed by the physician.

Here is a patient who came in yesterday for a 7 month post-op follow up. He received 4000 FUE grafts over a two consecutive day session. The focus was on his frontal forelock, hairline and temporal points, with modest grafting (500 grafts) in his vertex. He is stable on finasteride. All grafts harvested and placed by the physician.

This previously posted patient returned yesterday for his one year follow up after receiving 4023 FUE grafts in his hairline, frontal forelock, midscalp, and vertex. Two consecutive days were needed to perform this procedure. Very good hair caliber yielded a good result, especially in his vertex. He is stable on finasteride. All grafts were harvested and placed by the physician.

Dark-tipped hair following FUE procedure
Michael Vories, MD replied to DAC's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Sometimes with light colored natural hair, the hair is dyed dark to help prevent color bias, in which the darker pigmented hair is not selectively targeted. We do this with gray or blonde haired patients. -
This is a patient who came in yesterday for his one year follow up after receiving 2000 FUE Grafts in his frontal forelock and hairline. His hair loss has been stable for the past 10 years, and he is not currently considering finasteride. He is very happy with the coverage in the front, and is looking to continue with grafting in the vertex. 0.8 mm Vortex punch was used for extraction, and Hans Hair Implanters was used for placement. All grafts were harvested and placed by the physician.

This is a 30 year old film and television actor who presented to our clinic with the desire to fill in as completely as possible his receding frontal forelock and hairline. His hair loss has been stabilized over the past year with finasteride. We harvested 2500 FUE grafts with a 0.80 mm Vortex serrated punch, and placed them using dense packing into his frontal forelock and hairline with Hans Lion Implanters. Measured graft density of 57 grafts/cm2. Shown is his before photos and 6 month post-op photos. He was accompanied by his agent who stated that the procedure had opened up roles of the 20-25 year old group due to the procedure. We are always grateful for comments like these! All grafts were harvested and placed by the physician.

We were fortunate to have our patient, Johnny Casper, accompany us to the recent ISHRS Conference in Chicago. Here he participated in the Live Patient Viewing, where physicians from around the world could comb through his hair, and in his case look at the donor area after his FUE procedure. The best compliments we can receive is from other doctors looking closely (with magnification and lighting) at his hair. We are grateful for this opportunity to show our work. Shown is Johnny at the ISHRS Conference in 2012, just after his first procedure (5 weeks post-op) and in Chicago last week. Again, all grafts were harvested and placed by the physician, since this is surgery.

This was a better than average response to finasteride. Although his frontal third was filled in entirely with grafts, if you look closely he still had quite a bit of hair in his midscalp, although much of his midscalp hair was minaturizing. This hair responded very well to finasteride, which effectively reversed the miniaturization. He was actually planning to do a second procedure for the midscalp and vertex, but his response to the finasteride eliminated his desire for a second procedure.
