  1. This patient came in for his one year post-op follow up after receiving 3000 FUE grafts, 1000 in his vertex, and 2000 in his frontal forelock/hairline. He is stable of finasteride. All grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories.
  2. Thanks for posting! Here is a before photo for comparison.
  3. This patient came in for his one year follow up after receiving 3000 FUE grafts in a one day session. 1000 grafts were used for the vertex, and 2000 grafts in the frontal forelock and hairline. He is stable on finasteride. It is tough to gauge this case due to the differences in the length of hair, and if his hair was cut shorter I am sure the result would appear thinner. A good example that hair length adds to hair volume. Full facial images were used with patient consent, and all grafts were extracted and placed by Dr. Vories.
  4. This 56 year old patient came in today for his one year follow up after receiving 3000 FUE grafts in a one day session.(1000 in the vertex, and 2000 in the frontal forelock/hairline) Full facial images are presented with the patients consent, and all grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories.
  5. This patient came into our office today after receiving 3000 FUE grafts into his frontal forelock and hairline six months ago. He is stable on finasteride. A 0.80 mm Vortex surrounded punch was used for graft extraction, and Hans Lion Implanters were used for placement. All grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories, and full facial photos were used with the patient's permission.
  6. We have been in contact with him, unfortunately he is a defense contractor and is overseas for the next few months. We asked that he send one year photos, but have not received anything at this point. Will certainly post when we receive photos.
  7. This patient in his 40's came in yesterday for his six month post-op visit after receiving 4000 FUE grafts in a two consecutive day session. He is stable on finasteride. 2000 grafts were used to increase density in the vertex on the first day, and 2000 grafts were harvested and placed in the frontal forelock and hairline on the second day. All grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories. Full facial images were used with the patient's consent. Please note that this patient regularly dyes his hair, and the hair dye is responsible for the color mismatch of the hair in the recipient area and the much grayer hair in the temporal areas.
  8. This previously posted patient came into the clinic last week for his 6 month follow up after receiving a total of 6000 FUE grafts in two sessions. The grafts were focused in the frontal forelock and hairline, with the plan to graft into the vertex depending upon sufficient donor. He is now scheduled for a vertex session early in 2017. He is not taking finasteride due to a stable hair loss pattern. A 0.80 mm Vortex surrounded punch was used for extraction, and Hans Lion Implanters were used for graft placement. All grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories.
  9. This African-American patient came to our clinic 9 months ago after receiving a FUT procedure 2 years ago to restore his hairline. He was unhappy with the FUT scar as well, so our plan was to graft 1300 FUE grafts into his hairline, and use 300 FUE grafts to give some coverage to the donor scar. He presented yesterday at the 6 month post-op mark satisfied with the coverage both in the hairline and the FUT scar. Please note that this African-American result was performed only after conducting test grafts to make sure that the curl of the hair within the dermis could be extracted successfully. All grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories.
  10. Good pick-up. I do think the finasteride is helping him in the vertex. He began 10 months ago, when he had the transplant. Thanks!
  11. This patient came in today for a 10 month follow up after receiving 2000 FUE grafts into his frontal forelock and hairline. He is stable on finasteride. He is considering a follow up procedure to address his midscalp and vertex hair loss. A 0.80 mm Vortex surrounded punch was used for extraction, and graft placement was with Hans Lion Implanters. All grafts harvested and placed by Dr. Vories. Full facial images were used with the patient's consent.
  12. Not to worry. We see this often post-op, it is just due to drainage of fluid from anesthesia and inflammation from the procedure. As long as you are not running a fever, everything should be ok.
  13. This previously posted patient came in yesterday for his two year follow up after receiving 4000 FUE grafts over a two consecutive day session. He is stable on finasteride. 2000 grafts were used to restore the crown area, and 2000 grafts were used in the frontal forelock and hairline. A 0.80 mm punch was used for the extraction, and Hans Lion Implanters were used for placement. All grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories.
  14. This interesting case of 29 year old male with scarring hair loss from a MRSA infection several years ago presented to our clinic 6 months ago. His hair loss has been stable for the past 2 years. Our plan was to do a test case of 100 grafts in order to test the blood supply of the scarred area. We performed the test case of 104 FUE grafts, harvested from the central occipital area, and he returned for follow up, with satisfactory results of the test scar. Today he came in for a 2500 FUE graft case to fill in the scarred area. The point of this thread is that last week at the Las Vegas ISHRS meeting I was challenged that there is no study that shows graft survival of FUE grafts, and so as a group the ISHRS should not support FUE. Our experience is that FUE grafts have a graft survival similar to FUT grafts, and with the use on Implanter Pens, can actually have a better survival rate than forceps placed FUT grafts. In this case I harvested and placed 104 FUE grafts, and at the six month mark 99 of the 104 grafts were counted, for a graft survival rate of 95%. And this is in scar tissue. I do not present this case as definitive for all FUE cases, and certainly the quality of the procedure can vary widely with FUE providers. But at a minimum I want to call in to question the accepted "fact" that FUT grafts have a better survival rate than FUE grafts.
  15. We use a powered Vortex sharp surrounded punch for extractions. Generally for Caucasian hair we restrict our punch size to 0.80 mm or smaller. Once the grafts are extracted they are immediately placed into a Graft Chiller set at 4 degrees Celsius. After all the grafts are extracted we begin placing grafts using Hans Lion Implanter Pens. We believe these are essential to full graft survival, especially for FUE grafts. We only perform FUE, and I use one surgical assistant in most cases, simply for counting and collating the grafts and loading the Implanter Pens. I extract all grafts and place all grafts personally. Thanks!
  16. I should of added he is stable on finasteride. His primary concern was the frontal forelock and midscalp, and he is considering grafting in the crown on a future date. Thanks!
  17. This local physician came in yesterday for his 6 month follow up after receiving 3000 FUE grafts in a one day session to his hairline, frontal forelock, and midscalp. Due to coarser hair caliber, a 0.90 mm Vortex punch was used for extraction, and grafts were placed using Lion Implanter Pens. All grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories. Full facial images were used with the patient's permission.
  18. This patient came in yesterday for his 6 month follow up after receiving 3000 FUE grafts in a one day session. 2000 grafts were focused in his frontal forelock and hairline, and 1000 grafts were used to lightly dust the midscalp and crown. A 0.75 mm Vortex surrounded punch was used for extraction, and Hans Lion Implanters were used for placement. He is stable on finasteride. All grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories, and full facial images were used with permission of the patient.
  19. Just for clarification our pricing structure is $5 per graft for the first 1500 grafts, and then $4 per graft for any additional grafts in that one or two day setting. We perform FUE only. Thanks!
  20. The before photos have the beige background, the after photos have the blue background. The bilateral apex areas are both corners of the hairline. Thanks!
  21. This patient came in today for his 6 month follow up after receiving 1500 FUE grafts in his bilateral apex areas and some modest temple work. He is stable on finasteride. Grafts were harvested with a 0.80 mm surrounded punch and placed with Hans Lion Implanter Pens. All grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories.
  22. In our experience the absence of epinephrine should have no effect on the outcome of the transplant. It is just something the physician needs to be aware of beforehand. Hope this helps!
  23. There is no absolute reason to use epinephrine. We have performed many FUE procedures using only Marcaine without epinephrine and normal saline.
