  1. This patient came in last week for his 1 year follow up after receiving 3000 FUE grafts in his frontal forelock, hairline, and midscalp in a one day session. A 0.80 mm sharp punch was used for extraction, and Hans Lion Implanters were used for graft placement. Full facial images were used with patient's consent, and all grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories.
  2. This African-American patient came in for his 6 month follow up yesterday, after receiving 1500 FUE grafts into his hairline and bilateral apex areas. A test case was performed to ensure that the tissue could be extracted with minimal transection, and the test case was successful. In our practice, we see about 20% of patients of African descent have a distinct curl to the tissue that prevents successful harvesting with a straight punch. Grafts were placed with Hans Lion Implanters, and all tissue was harvested and placed by Dr. Vories.
  3. This patient came in for his 12 month follow up today after receiving 2000 FUE grafts into his frontal forelock and hairline. When transplanting patients with gray hair, we use hair dye prior to extraction to prevent color bias, so we obtain similar proportions of gray and pigmented hair. Grafts were extracted using a 0.80 mm surrounded punch, and grafts were placed using Hans Lion Implanters. All grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories, and full facial images were used with the patient's consent.
  4. This 25 year old patient came in for his 6 month follow up after receiving 2000 FUE grafts into his hairline and bilateral apex areas. Because of his age we suggested the use of finasteride and minoxidil, which he continues to take. A 0.75 mm surrounded sharp punch was used for extraction, and grafts were placed with Hans Lion Implanters. Full facial images are used with patient's consent. All grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories.
  5. This previously posted patient came in today for his 1 year follow up after receiving 2500 FUE grafts into his frontal forelock and midscalp. His story is that he underwent a MRSA infection several years ago after a GI operation which caused a scarring hair loss in his frontal forelock and midscalp. He wanted the ability to crop his hair short as in these photos, so FUT was not an option for him. After a successful test case, we harvested 2500 FUE grafts with a 0.80 mm sharp punch, and placed the grafts with Hans Lion Implanters. At six months his hair growth was acceptable, but like with many scarring alopecia cases, full growth took the full year post-op. All grafts were harvested and placed by the physician.
  6. This 29 year old patient sent in these photos 1 year after receiving 2500 FUE grafts mostly to his frontal forelock and hairline. Grafts were harvested with a 0.85 mm sharp punch and placed with Hans Lion Implanters. All grafts were harvested and placed by the physician.
  7. Just to set the record straight, Johnny is speaking of his own experience of stable hair loss at age 55. The vast majority of our patients (especially younger patients) are taking finasteride. A hair saved is always better than a hair transplanted.
  8. This patient came into our office today for his 6 month follow up after receiving 1500 FUE grafts into his frontal forelock/hairline in a one day procedure. He is not on finasteride secondary to side effects. All grafts harvested and placed by the physician, and full facial images were used with the patient's consent.
  9. Our records show his a score rate of 104/100, which means 104 grafts were scored for every 100 intact grafts produced. This remained true for both the test case and the larger case. Keep in mind this is not the transection rate, as some of the grafts may have been scored too shallow which prevented their excision. I do believe that implanter pens are a key reason for our success in graft survival. Unfortunately we do not have close-up photos of this patient's full transplant with clipped hair to perform a hair count (and likely never will). He is happy with his hair at this point and I doubt he would submit to clipping his hair down with what he has gone through. But from a macroscopic level there is little difference in density in the tested area and the larger transplanted area so I do believe we kept pretty close to the tested area graft survival rate. We will be presenting this case at the ISHRS meeting this October in Prague.
  10. This has been previously posted- but we performed an FUE procedure into a large scar from a previous MRSA infection. 100 grafts were placed with implanter pens in a test case, and at 6 months we re-evalauted with a hair count. Out of the 100 grafts placed, 99 were actively growing at 6 months- into scar tissue. So while there maybe physical forces placed on the grafts during extraction, they have little impact on graft survival. We went to graft an additional 2500 FUE grafts into the scarring area. Here are the close-up photos of the test case and before and afters 6 months from the 2500 graft case.
  11. This 28 year old patient came in today for his 6 month follow up after receiving 2000 FUE grafts in a one day session. The grafts were focused in the frontal forelock/hairline. He is stable on finasteride. A 0.80 mm sharp punch was used with Hans Lion Implanters used for placement. All grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories. Full facial images are used with the patient consent.
  12. This patient came in for a second procedure today, one year after receiving 4000 FUE grafts in a two consecutive day session one year ago. The procedure today was to add 1500 grafts to his vertex and midscalp, which is often the hardest areas to obtain coverage. The initial procedure utilized a 0.80 mm sharp punch, and all grafts were placed using Hans Lion Implanters. The photos show his before photos from last year, and his photos from today. All grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories, and full facial images used with patient consent. He is stable on finasteride.
  13. This 43 year old patient came in for his 6 month follow up after receiving 3000 FUE grafts, with 500 grafts to his vertex/midscalp, and 2500 grafts to his frontal forelock and hairline. He is stable on finasteride. All grafts harvested and placed by Dr. Vories, and full facial images are used with consent of the patient.
  14. This patient came in for his 6 month follow up after receiving 3000 FUE grafts in a one day session. 1000 grafts were placed in the crown/midscalp, and 2000 grafts were placed in the frontal forelock/hairline. A 0.80 mm serrated sharp punch was used for harvesting, and grafts were placed using Hans Lion Implanters. He is stable on finasteride. All grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories.
  15. This patient came in today for his 6 month follow up after receiving 2000 FUE grafts into his frontal forelock and hairline. Because of the gray hair, we needed to color his hair before the procedure to prevent color bias. A 0.80 sharp punch was used for the donor harvesting, and grafts were placed using Hans Lion Implanters. Full facial images are used with the patient's consent. All grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories.
  16. This patient came in today for his one year follow up after receiving 1500 FUE grafts to repair a previous FUT procedure from three years ago. In addition to 1200 grafts placed into the hairline, 300 grafts were used to disguise the obvious FUT scar. All grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories, and full facial images were used with patient consent.
  17. The headline autocorrected to scarring alopecia. This is not a case of scarring hair loss as it is AGA.
  18. This patient came in yesterday for his 6 month follow up after receiving 2500 FUE grafts to his hairline and frontal forelock. He is stable on finasteride. Grafts were harvested using a 0.80 mm sharp punch and placed with Hans Lion Implanters. All grafts harvested and placed by Dr. Vories.
  19. This 35 year old came in yesterday for his six month follow up after receiving 3000 FUE grafts in his frontal third. A conservative approach was designed for his hairline to conserve limited donor hair. We planned this as a two step process, with the patient coming in later this year to address his crown, with this donor hair rebounding very well. He is not on finasteride due to stable hair loss pattern. Grafts were harvested with a 0.80 mm sharp punch, and placed with Hans Lion Implanters. All grafts harvested and placed by Dr. Vories.
  20. This 30 year old came in today for his 6 month follow up after receiving 2500 FUE grafts into his midscalp and frontal forelock. He suffered a MRSA infection several years ago after an abdominal operation, and the infection caused the scarring hair loss seen in the photo. He has had no hair growth over the last 3 years and wanted evaluation for hair transplantation. We initially did a test case of 100 grafts to make sure the area had sufficient blood supply for a larger procedure, and after acceptable (over 95%) growth of the test case proceeded with the 2500 graft, one day procedure. All grafts harvested and placed by Dr. Vories. Full facial images used with patient consent.
  21. This interesting patient came to us 6 months ago due to his inability to grow out a full beard and mustache. We extracted 1500 FUE grafts and placed them in his bilateral cheek area, mustache, and chin areas. All grafts extracted and placed by Dr. Vories.
  22. Unfortunately he was not on finasteride when his first procedure was performed 7 years ago. His hair loss behind the hairline accelerated until he saw us last year, and we put him on finasterdie immediately. The good news is his hair loss has stabilized on finasteride, so hopefully his pattern will stay this way for some time.
  23. Thanks for the comments. This is MPB that has been stabilized with finasteride. The odd pattern is due to the previous FUT grafting in the hairline.
  24. This 38 year old patient came in for his 12 month follow up after receiving 1500 FUE grafts into his frontal forelock. For cases like this we can often hide the procedure by clipping small patches in the donor area and extracting from the patches. These patches can be concealed by the untrimmed hair above the patches. Normally the most we can harvest by this method is 1500 grafts. This patient had a previous FUT procedure in his hairline only, so our job was to blend that hairline with the midscalp hair by grafting in his frontal forelock only. He is stable on finasteride, and all grafts were harvested and placed by Dr. Vories.
  25. This 49 year old patient came in for his one year post-op follow up after receiving 4000 FUE grafts over a two consecutive day period. He is not taking finasteride due to a stable hair loss pattern. Grafts were focused over his frontal forelock and hairline, and he is returning for another procedure to focus on his vertex. Please excuse the comb over in the vertex, currently there is virtually no crown coverage. All grafts harvested and placed by Dr. Vories. Full facial images used with the patient's consent.
