  1. A few people have already answered you mate. I asked Dr Feller when I was there last week about wearing a beenie hat. He said leave it until 10 days in.
  2. Thanks for the reply. Couple of questions you may or anyone might to able to answer. Most of my head is still quite numb, apart from the sides. How long does that last? Plus, how long does the area that has had the grafts generally stay red? Thanks
  3. Hi Arthur. I'm ok cheers. Not really pain in the donor area. Just uncomforatble when i try to sleep. Is most of your head still a little numb. My still is. Good luck to you too.
  4. Here's where i am today. As you can see by the last photo. I can pretty much cover the transplanted area already.
  5. Well I suppose I can be thankful that I’m not off to New York this week with the threat of a hurricane. I hope this doesn't affect too many fellow transplant patients. Having never flown to America before I was rather nervous beforehand just about getting there. I arrived on the Sunday after a rather boring flight. A nice quiet Sunday evening in my hotel, although I must admit I didn't get a great deal of sleep that night. I was more worried about getting to Dr Fellers office on time and that everything will be ok. I arrived in plenty of time and decided to go for a walk for a while. I returned just before 7:45 and ventured into the building. I was greeted by the very approachable and friendly Dr Feller. We sat in his room for a few minutes, where we discussed my hopes and what he felt he could do for me. After a few lines drawn on my head. I asked Dr Feller if the new hair line he had drawn on my head was not too high. I said to him that my original hairline was lower than he had drawn. He reassured me that everything would look fine and any existing hair that is lower than the new hairline would look very natural. Next stop was the dentist chair and the strong smelling plastic covering of the chair. A quick shave of the front and back of my head and we were ready to go. Dr Feller started the dreaded injections in the back of my head. The first few injections were a little disturbing but no big deal. After my head began to react the rest of the injections were a piece of cake. I didn't really ask too many questions on what was going on at the time as I didn't really want to know. I was then stapled up and it was time to work front of my hair. Another round of injections and a little rest time and it was time for Dr Feller to start the incisions into the area for the new hair. This seemed to take quite a while. Once this was all done it was time for his assistants to work their wonder adding the new grafts. I did manage to doze off a couple of times, through the times when the water and saline was running down my face. I was in the chair nearly four hours although it didn't seem that long. I decided to go to the rest room and have a quick pit stop and check on my new look. Although it didn't look very sexy and was really pleased with the area that had been done. Dr Feller had filled the first inch of the front and gone further up in the temple area. I had a quick chat with one if his assistants who gave me a list of do's and don’ts and what to expect the next few days. A nice bit of lunch and then a quick chat with Dr Feller in his office. He gave me my lovely baseball and a few pills. Not much to say about the next couple of days where I spent most of my time tucked away in my hotel room. The odd time venturing pout to get a bit of food. Another long journey home. I was so glad to be home in familiar surroundings. It's now been a week and I will be taking easy for another few days. Hopefully start work again next Monday. I need to being self employed. Not too much discomfort so far, although it's quite hard to sleep having staples in the back and sides of my head. I think that's about it for now. I will post pictures of before and after in a few minutes. Finally, i would like to say a big thanks to Spex. For making me feel at ease when I spoke to him on the phone. For the countless questions he answered over the last three months on email. A big thank you to Dr Feller and his team. A great bunch of people who make you feel very welcome.
  6. I'm over to see Dr Feller next week. You have very similar thickness of hair to me. Also having 1800 grafts. I'm starting to get nervous now. Hope it goes well. Jon
  7. Quick update. Well i'm off to America to see Dr Feller in just over two weeks. I've been taking finasteride now for two months. The first six weeks i seemed to shed a lot of hair. The last week this seems to have settled down. I've read many blogs and a little worried how i will look for a couple of months. I guess two months isn't a great deal of time in the grand scheme of things. I'm feeling much more positive about life now. Going down the gym again 4 times a week for the last two months has also made a huge difference.
  8. Thanks for the kind words. I have been told it will be 1800 grafts.
  9. Hey Rob. Thanks for the concerns. I'm ok thanks. I'm back on the tablets (Finasteride). Had no side effects when i was on Propecia last year so all good with that. After lots of emails and phonecalls back and forth with Spex, i'm booked in with Dr Feller in October. So heres hoping all goes well.
  10. I appreciate the reply but this has been the only thing holding me back the last few years. You don't know what my hair was like 10 years ago. Believe me it is waffer thin compared to what was back then. Anyway, i've had some great advice and i am sorting things out with spex's help.
  11. Do you recommened getting finasteride to stop the hair loss for now? I presume i would have to go overseas and not in the UK to have my HT? Sorry for all the questions. This is all new to me. I know there are lots of people and products that just rip you off . So i want to get this right. Jon
  12. Thanks for the kind words Rob. I guess on the outside it does look like i still have a decent head of hair. Comparing my hair now and ten years ago there is a hufe difference in the thickness. I have emailed Spex and he asked for pictures which i have sent. I just know i have to do something about this now before it takes over my life completely. Do suggest a transplant is best for me, if so what is the best way to go about it? Thanks Jon
  13. Hope this picture comes out. These were taken this morning
  14. Thank you for the kind words and all the others that has replied. I will try to add a picture in a while. My hair loss has been very gradual. It's only the last year where it is really starting to look thin. I guess if you keep losing hair that is the only way to go. My hair loss, to me, seems to have increased recently. Perhaps due to the fact I’m more and more worried about it. I'm currently not any medication.
  15. Well it's got to the point with my hair that I’m so low on confidence that I so want to restore my hair to get my life back. I'm a 41 year old male living in Kent, uk. I first noticed my hair getting thinner in my late 20's. It has been a gradual process and something that has worried me now for so long. To most people my hair looks ok. I can style it in a way that it looks normal. It's only in the last 6 months that it's getting harder to hide my thinning hair. It has got to the stage that it has taken over my life. I have no confidence in the way I look. I separated from my wife three years ago and currently live and work on my own. It is getting to the stage where I’m happier staying in so I don't have to put wax in my thinning hair. I have been in a new relationship for 5 months, but my all time low of confidence is now affecting this relationship. I know I will not get through this stage of my life if I don't try to do something about it. Last year I did a year’s treatment at the Belgravia centre in London. I used the Propecia and minoxidil treatment that just didn't work. It seems since I stopped my hair loss has increased. I guess I’m after advice on what I should do next. I know I will have to pay a hefty sum of money to try to do anything about it. But I know if whatever I do is a success will make me happy again. Is the best option for me to have a hair transplant? What are the costs. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks
