  1. Hi Patrickcc,

I think you should leave well enough alone. Your hair looks pretty darn good as it is. Maybe in a few years if you still feel the need, but know that multiple operations are the norm, not the exception. I would not rush into a HT at this point. If you really lose a lot on in the front in the next 5 years than maybe consider a HT but for now be thankful you have a good head of hair.

  2. Wow. What an amazingly good topic to discuss. My suggestion would be to compliment his hair a few different times first. This will makes him feel more comfortable about what he has gone through. Then you could say something like " I saw you're old facebook posts and it seems you had less hair then, your hair looks so amazing now, did you get a touch-up or something?"

Men can be very sensitive about their hair loss so complimenting him first at random times will really make him feel good and might loosen him up a bit about the experience.

    Thanks for the interesting post.

  3. Wow! Nice result.

Is it me or do FUE clinics cherry pick Pts to make such clinics better & more skillfull than FUT clinics? Because I don't see a lot of let's say lesser density guys / older guys on show mostly from FUE clinics as much as FUT clinics..

Just a thought as clever sexy Marketing skills that all & many so to be HT / FUE Pts think that such wow results is the Norm as if you dig deeper is clearly not the case.

Just for the record I'm not knocking this clinic but makes me wonder about FUE clinics go about there business.

Something the forum need to talk about a lot more to even the playing feild of fair marketing.

Good to keep in mind, yes.

but man this is a nice result.

  4. Yeah, being able to research the technicians would be ideal. However, I don't think it's possible. They change and there are too many to know who will be operating on that day. This is at least what I've understood from reading patient experiences online. This becomes even more true when such large quantities of grafts are being removed and multiple procedures are occurring. However, research is always key and I would definitely encourage all patients to dig through and figure out who will actually be operating on them that day!

    Yes. Seems so important.

Konior definitely has more strip than FUE results posted. It does sound like he's taking his same approach to FUE though -- focused and uber dedicated!
Yea. He is a Jedi for sure.
  5. For example, of the 3 surgeons Mag mentions above, all 3 of them predominantly use technician extraction. This is going to equate to less cost, but there is clearly a reason why.

I've always been pretty vocal against this model. FUE grafts are CRAZY fragile, and there are two issues at hand: 1) most of these technicians don't have their name on the door and none of them have gone through the extensive training of a physician. If the grafts get wrecked, it's really no sweat off their back -- nor is it really their fault.

    I agree totally with that.

But also I think Turkey is less expensive because it's...Turkey.

In general knowing who the technicians are that will be working on you would be a smart thing to research (if that's even possible?)

But I should add that even though Dr. Konior is my #1 favorite FUT doctor he simply doesn't have as many stellar results posted (yet) to sway someone from a FUE Dr. like Lorenzo when looking at FUE as their preferred method.... Just my opinion though;)

  6. The best FUE can claim is that it grows AS WELL AS STRIP. So why not just get strip?
With all due respect, because it might help to avoid a potentially stretched and problematic scar on the back of the head. There are too many scar repair cases to count on forums like these that are still coming in daily. The fact that even the best doctor cant predict whether a scar will stretch, and considering a HT is cosmetic surgery, if the front looks good at the cost of the back looking bad, it would make sense to elect a surgery that does not inherently come with that risk. ((depending on the personal goal/characteristics/NW pattern/future loss/ etc. of the patient)) Just my opinion. That being said I respect Dr. Fellers work very much, but this one point kind of struck me.
  7. Hi sure. My side effects initially was just lower libido which eventually turned into zero libido for the last few months that I took it. After a couple of years I started noticing weak erections and no morning erections. What really freaked me out and caused me to see the Doctor was that I noticed significant loss of size to my erections. It started happening gradually and then one day i looked down and I kid you not the base of my erect penis was only about as big around as my thumb with the head and outer shaft normal size. It looked like a cone. I saw the Doctor that day and stopped taking it immediately. It took a few weeks for that cone effect to go away but to this day I have lost significant size. It's probably a good 25% shorter and a bit less thick than it used to be. Propecia also killed my testosterone levels. Before I started taking it I had my levels checked during a physical and they were very high (around 800). After stopping I had them tested again and they were a dismal 150.

For about 2 weeks immediately after I stopped taking Propecia i would wake up with serious Morning Wood every day(super hard like when I was in high school). That stopped but I still wake up with morning wood just about every day now, which is good. The lasting side effects that I still have:

Low testosterone and low thyroid levels. My testosterone has improved a bit but still very low (around 300). My thyroid levels are also low and have been ever since I stopped.

Low libido. I am 39 too so that has to have an impact but I still don't have anywhere near the sex drive I once did. It has improved quite a bit from where it was but still not where I would like it to be. It is not normal to have a woman wanting to have sex with you and you say no. That used to happen with my wife all the time and really caused issues with our marriage for many years. Almost led to a divorce.

Erections have just started getting firmer again. That took about 5 years for a noticeable difference. Still not like it used to be though.

Worst thing is the loss in size though. I'm still hoping that one day that will come back but after so much time I am not very optimistic.

    Hi Jopps123,

    Holy molasses!

Did your doctor say that these things were all because of Finasteride?

Could some of them been from something else in your life? Just wondering because my testosterone has been getting lower in the last few years also and I'm not sure why.

I mean (this is kind of personal) but when you say "loss of libido" do you mean you didn't even want to wank, have sexual thoughts, want sex at all or was it more just in real life situations?

  8. Better questions to ask yourself are what are my hair characteristics? What is my donor density like? How large an area must be covered? What is the likelihood of advancing to a high NW and running out of donor? Do I have limited financial resources? After you tackle those question choosing a suitable surgeon will be less difficult.

    That is a quotable answer.

  9. maybe on paper more survive via FUT but no ones looking at paper their looking at ppl's heads and the one thing that ppl notice most is the dreaded strip scar NOT less grafts wen comparing the two.

Good point. A strip scar can be a major regret in this battle against MPB, even years down the line.

Im betting the FUE guys are only going to get better and soon there will be no question.

  10. Yes is normal that the hairs are falling out now. You just have to wait a few more months. In about 4 months you should see the new hair looking good.

I should also say that you got yourself into a kind of a tricky situation. The 1500 grafts should be ok for a little while. After that you be wanting to look for a great FUT surgeon IMHO. Like BUSA said you are going to lose the rest of the hair that is on the top of your head in the next years. You have to keep that donor area as unharvested as possible. Dont risk another HT with the same doctor you used. You will have to eventually travel to find a surgeon that can be careful with those grafts and do as much coverage as possible. Dont stop taking finasteride etc.

But for now just rest and grow well, and please read a lot of posts on this forum (and others) to get a better understanding of what a HT can and can not achieve. Good growing.

  11. I just found this post online and was wondering your thoughts on these 5 points.

It's a super negative and I don't want make anyone feel bad, but do wonder if some of these points might be potentially true.

    Here is the post...

Hair Transplants are a bad idea. I am a hair transplant veteran/victim (4 procedures) and I am writing this post to help anyone who is considering this procedure to think twice before doing it. In particular, I am addressing the young men around 30, who don't know what they are getting themselves into. My goal is to get a newbie to NOT rush into this as I did and consider the long-term implications of what they are doing.

These following points should all be considered:

    1. There isn't enough hair. If you pour about $40,000 into it, you can get back maximum 25% of your original density. That's it. About 7,500 grafts. It's nothing. Trust me. All you'll be able to do is have a real nice combover. That's about it.

    2. The hairs are going to thin and age. This will render the cosmetically insignificant. If you transplant them at 30 years of age, they will not have the same cosmetic impact when you are older. They will look like unmanageable weeds.

    3. The donor area will thin over time. This is the horrible truth hair transplant doctors don't tell you. The hairs in the back of your head will start thinning, too. Eventually, you will have the head of any regular old man - except for the giant strip scar or pock-mark dots of the hair transplants.

    4. Propecia and other medicines don't work. Don't let the doctors lie to you. Propecia eventually stops working (Merck only ran their studies for five years - the point when they knew it stopped working) and your hair loss will continue. Minoxidil is absolutely worthless. Those are the only "proven" weapons in the arsenal and neither works.

    5. New procedures like FUE have lower yields than strip and a host of other risks associated with them. You will never get your old hair back, so don't be fooled by the so-called advances in hair restoration surgery.

Take these five points, add them together and you'll get the simple fact. There is nothing you can really do about your hair loss. Better to shave your head and accept it.

  12. Yea, I agree. Its not the forehead wrinkles. Nobody thinks about that. You're a guy. That can even be considered cool.

It's that Toppik is B-R-O-W-N but real hair has different colors blended together. That's what people are looking at. The color and the too perfect hairline is actually doing the reverse of what you want. Like others have said try growing out the front a bit to get a little coverage and ease way back on the toppik.
