It may sound a little ridiculous for those with more extensive loss but hair loss affects us all in different ways. I would never settle for partial coverage and if I couldn't at least give the illusion of a full head of hair I'd just throw in the towel and shave it. This may seem like a partial recession but it drastically affects my look. Something just looked off because I have a long face already and an egg shaped head.

i got 5,500$ to spend on ht, need help
jmghair replied to 4johnybravo's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
If you are willing to travel you can get cheaper. Then of course the cost of travel has to get factored into the equation. There will be those that tell you don't worry about the cost but cost is always a factor. The key is to not compromise quality for a few extra dollars. Its a matter of weighing risk vs cost. There are quality docs who are not considered "top docs" but still consistently produce quality results. I think the cheapest recommended on this board is Dr. Path in Thailand. There is also a doc in Thailand by the name of Pong who some members have gotten good results from but he isn't recommended. -
Advice for a younger hair sufferer...
jmghair replied to hopefullyhairy's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
There are alot of people who will tell you that you are too young. I first started considering a transplant at 21 but just recently finally was able to get it at 27. I can say that I could have gotten it 3-4 years earlier but I now have a clear picture of what my future hair loss will be. The important thing is to take all the factors into consideration and be informed. For example, in regards to the hairline there are limitations having to do with bone structure with how low you can go and still look natural. Lowering the entire hairline will also take alot of grafts then say just filling in the temples. It depends on your current level of loss. Hop on meds and save a little longer. It will help in the long run.- 11 replies

I would like to add that so far the donor area looks great. 2 days post op and it is not very noticeable even at this early stage. No pain or bleeding and minimal redness. Dr Bisanga used a .80mm punch which was small enough. The recipient has no swelling or bleeding or pain either so the healing process is going great.

When the doc is choosing what follicles in the donor region to punch during fue does he only punch grafts with follicles in the anagen phase not those in the catagen and telogen phases? Or does it not matter? I'd imagine he'd only transplant anagen hairs because all the cases I've seen had a hair growing out of the follicle.

If I buzzed my head before having fue surgery would all the hairs start on an equal playing field and grow evenly thereafter including hair that has been shed but not in the resting phase anymore? What is a recommended length for surgery. I was told by my clinic that the doctor will shave hair in the areas where necessary but Im considering buzzing it all before I go in because I've been shedding a little (not noticeably or anything)

If someone is going through a seasonal shed with a surgery about a month away how will this affect the surgery/outcome?

Dispelling the myths about hair loss

Has Dr. Hasson ever considered a hair transplant himself? I noticed he has some recession and thinning. I would imagine that it would not be difficult for a man of his status in the community to get great work done easily. With the advances of technology it is almost undetectable. I wonder what his personal reasons are. -
Will 1,000 FUE be enough? (with pics)

I'm going to echo what previous posters have said by saying that you would need in the neighborhood of 2000 grafts to achieve a good looking result. -
If you could cure your hair loss with a few grafts to the crown would you do it? It appears I have stabilized my hair-loss. I take all three meds and the outlook looks good for me from looking at the males in my family. I'm just having a friendly discussion here no rash decisions are being made. I respect all the opinions saying no absolutely don't do anything. I know where they're coming from I really do. The question is would 500 hundred grafts improve the look of that region from observing the pics? Lets say I was able to avoid shocking my native hairs into oblivion. How real and common is permanent shock-loss to the crown in cases like this? I might add that I have been researching hair transplants for 10 years lurking on this board and others. I have had consults with at least 3 of the top docs recommended on this board. I'm glad I caught my hair-loss early enough to nip it in the bud. I didn't even get serious about meds until I noticed this thinning about a year ago. I had been on meds before but I was trying to get hair to grow in the temple in an area I not genetically disposed to grow hair in. I always had a "dracula" shaped hairline.

I am going to have a procedure done to fill in the temples no more than 1,000 fue. The doc said he will have to see the crown in person the morning of the procedure and plan from there whether or not it is wise to address it now. I have to admit maybe it is a little greedy but we will see what Dr. Bisanga says upon physical examination. The miniaturization needs to be assessed as there is a risk of damaging native hairs.

Levrais I took a look at your photos. Would other factors come into play such as the thickness/color of your hair etc...? I have thick black latin hair. Father is caucasian and mother is hispanic. I take after my mothers hair as far as density and thickness. It is not a bald spot I have. There is hair in the crown which has become miniaturized. I was just wondering if 500 grafts could give the appearance of having more density in that small area maybe slightly larger than the size of a golf ball. 500 seems like a small amount but if they were 3-4 hair grafts which is possible with good donor could it make even a small improvement to someone like me who notices every small little thing when it comes to his hair?
