  1. I have a good experience with meds Rashid36. I get roughly about 5% reduction in hairloss from Propecia, and maybe 5% less hairloss from Rogaine. Together it accounts for like 10% less hairloss I had surgical restoration and I would say 20% of my hairgrafts grew (I personally dont believe those 95% graft growth rate claims to be true). I am quite happy with the surgery results and would not live a day without the meds Finesteride is dirt-cheap, Rogaine is bit pricey but still .... my hair is worth it Good luck, stay positive regardless of which path you take (meds or head-shave). Any Researchers out here? that have tried any compounds, hormones, meds?
  2. Hi All: I have been taking Finesteride 2.5mg (half a tablet of 5mg) once every other day. Also I use daily at night topical Rogaine. I have been so far maintaining my hair loss through surgery etc, however recently I have started taking Adderall 30mg for my attention deficit issues which I need to continue taking. I have noticed that Finesteride and Rogaine have stopped helping me, and my hair are falling crazy (side effect of Adderall probably, since it can constrict peripheral blood flow) I have been advised oral Minoxidil (since it vasodilates peripheral tissue) though I dont feel like taking it due to water retention - weight gain and swelling significant risk. I currently am in great shape and would like to keep trim. I am also trying PRP treatments - which help amazing though their effects fade on me very quickly in like 2 months, and then my hair loss continues. Are there any powerful agents (may it be experimental) that I can try, I have heard about 'Uridine' that produces ATP (similar to PRP) however benefit of taking it being it stays in your system constantly. Anyone heard on Uridine or any other more effective things to try?
  3. Thanks David, though ice packs constrict veins, I thought they would only be helpful in first 24 to 48 hrs, after that you may instead want to apply heat so you get vaso-dilation instead to promote increased blood flow?
  4. I had my PRP 5 days ago, and my swelling is still full on. It started are forehead, down through eyes and now patiently sitting between cheek bones and nose. I did use cold-packs during 24-48 hrs though now out of options. What did others do to reduce their swelling? I still have lots of it.
  5. Hi guys, at 7months post surgery, I have quite encouraging results on my 2nd transplant so far. However, the second surgery used stitches that were considerably finer/thin. Though one weird thing, about 3 months post I had some little stitches re-appear on my head and consequently got them removed ... at that time I thought maybe they were left out forgotten during the normal stitch removal process. However, now at 7 months post transplant, at a different spot on my head, one or two stitches have re-appeared that are bothering me. I plan to go next friday, to have that taken care, though is the stitches resurfacing on head so late normal?
  6. 38. I have to get my hair-cut every 2 weeks or so, if I grow them longer than my baldiness get more apparent. I am hoping after my new implants grow, I can grow them longer and say goodbye to the barber!
  7. I had my first surgery that my bad luck, did not grow hair as expected. Just had my 2nd transplant to fill in the temples and frontal area more. (I do like Dr. Cooley, I think he's a great doc). Hoping to have a full growth this time. 15 day post-surgery photos attached.
  8. 1. When is it safe to color hair after transplant. Is it 3-4 weeks? 2. How about, 16 days post transplant, being careful .. like using a tooth brush, and "selectively" dying your grey hair, carefully not to go over the grafted areas and the incision line?
  9. Hi, I used to own a laser comb 15 yrs ago (costed 500 at the time) though I lost it few years back. I like the concept of laser for thinning hair. Does anyone know which brand/model could be the best? I think the key is that the comb should have strong enough laser power so it could penetrate till follicles. (sorry, I didn't want to post this question in laser comb forum, since too many sales folk would be roaming and I wouldn't get first-hand info
  10. John, Future_HT_Doc is right. I'll even more clarify that hair transplant surgery is: a) costly - cosmetic surgery procedure, b) even in the hands of the best doctors, carries unpredictable results, c) any surgery should be a big decision. Think of it, you are willing to bet on surgery outcomes, but you are not wanting to continue Finasteride - in my opinion, safest and effective option. What makes me worried is, you have been depressed due to your hair loss. You should not be. Somehow at your age, EVERYONE feels that hair is the most important thing in life - but give it few years, you will be more mature and realize that in life there are much more important things. You have a limited supply of donor hair, you age is too young, and hair transplant as a procedure is just not there yet. The doctor sales staff, will picture for you their success stories only, but they will not discuss at all how many did not produce hair. Please do try finasteride for next 3-4 years, live healthy / at peace lifestyle, and see a good psychologist - they will open your eyes and let you see decades ahead of you. In my humble opinion, at like 35 age, when you have plenty of money, that you dont care of losing - very important for hair transplant procedure. At that age, you will be much more mature, a failed outcome will not drive you suicidal - you'll just say 'duh - it didn't work, so what', and more importantly good doctors will be able to create a roadmap of procedures for the remaining of your lifespan.
  11. Umm... double checking: Instructions: "How long should I wear the saran wrap: The first 3 days are the most important time to use the saran wrap but it does protect the the grafts if you are wearing a cap or during sleep. It also functions as a green house and helps keep the grafts moist to help with healing"
  12. To be safe, I would treat caboki same as hair-coloring. You should wait 4-weeks after your surgery: a) give time for your grafts to be solidly in place. b) scalp to be fully healed, so chemicals dont irritate your scalp.
  13. I seem to have forgotten lessons from my first surgery. I now am having an extreme urge to itch on scalp. Was that Benadryl tablets that help?
  14. just to keep in perspective swelling is not bad or good, its normal reaction to surgery. You dont need to take any meds for it either. Ice packs dont help much either, merely makes you arms tired.
  15. hm... if you dont use any wrap (plastic or otherwise), how will you retain the moisture to your grafts?. Left to the air elements, no matter how often you spray, the grafts will dry out in mins?.
  16. I can believe your theory. I'v noticed a sort of similar effect when I dye'd my hair recently (the first time ever). It was a see change. The dye made my vellus/fine hair appear thicker and some gaps vanished.
  17. Hi, I had my surgery yesterday, doc has asked that I keep the grafts wet. I wear a little plastic wrap after spraying the liquid given. Since today, I started noticing some white slimy (mucous like) stuff in the grafted areas (attaching photo ... you cant see it that well) I cannot recall from my prior surgery, if this is normal? The reason I want to confirm from the members here ... I began my anti-biotic quite late (2 hrs ago), so just wanting to make sure that it is not infection. (I'm otherwise in good health, no pain, no discomfort, no sign of fever)
  18. All hair have to naturally fall off. If it falls in normal 2-3 wk time, that is a good sign. If it is taking too long, that is not the ideal scenario and could be sign of poor growth.
  19. A month before surgery only, I started taking Finsteride, and started applying Rogaine (once daily). i thought implanted hair are resistant to progressive loss, or do you mean that any preexisting hair at the site got totally lost due to progressive loss, and now the implanted hair are not enough to cover it?
  20. Please comment - frank/honest feedback appreciated. Did my temple implants died off, or they are just hard to grow? Detail photos at journal below: Hair Restoration Journal for cool525 - Post Surgery - 13 months
  21. Well, I dont know!. I wanted to learn from the forum, if this is a good progress as expected at a 9month? When will I get a head similar to the 15 day post photos?
  22. I have had 3k grafts on temples and crown. It has been 9 months and 1 week today. Is this expected progress? Before Surgery: Hair Restoration Journal for cool525 - Before Surgery 15 days (with hair still intact): Hair Restoration Journal for cool525 - Post Surgery - 15th day 9 months 1 week post: Hair Restoration Journal for cool525 - Post Surgery = 9 months
  23. What do you mean sorry?. Does the newly attached pics (hair combed away ... to show implanted area) give any different assesment?
  24. Attaching 2 pics with hair combed away, will appreciate your candid feedback ...
  25. Hi guys, can you check my photos. I was hoping by this time, that my widows peak (the backwards slant in temples) would be gone and the transplanted hair would have straightened my temples (i.e. upright, 90 degrees), but I am not seeing a robust sign of that happening? or is this too early to say? Attaching before/after, please comment.
