I'm 5 days in and after this morning's shower it looks like I have a bad case of dandruff. Is this normal?
Yes, don't worry, I had a ton of dried, peeling skin in recipient. Should be gone after another week or so...

Hair looks great as is, gonna look killer when grown out, congrats!

Guys, where can I read more about both techniques?
If you go to some of the top doc websites they explain the techniques they use. H&w, feller, rahal, Shapiro, t&d, Bernstein all have detailed explanations of fue and fut on their sites

I'm originally from Boston and I hear dr Leonard's ads on the radio whenever I go back up there. I've read mixed reviews on him, everything from great to butcher. If he did do Brady's hair, he did a pretty good job IMO. As for welker, it does seem ridiculous that he's about to go to training camp and get smacked around a month after a ht? I'm guessing he got fue, I can't imagine any dr would recommend going to an nfl training camp a month after strip, lol!!!

Brady's dad is pretty bald

He definitely did something...

You are through the difficult stage now Icecreamman.
Keep us posted.
Chrisdav, hoping to have half as good of a result as yours man!

Your hair looks great bro (although it's from iphone). Wonder if you have better pre-op photos like the ones taken from the clinic.
Headbanger, true, The iPhone Photos don't tell the "whole story". I'll work on getting the photos from dr feller.

As much hair as you have I don't see why you would have ever needed a hat! You have great hair, and it will really look amazing once Dr. Fellers work grows out.
Thanx for the kind words rc. A good amount of my frontal third was shaved down for surgery, and the pinkness stuck around for maybe 2 1/2 months or so. I really did not look good even with the native hair combed over the front, if the wind blew I'd look like a disheveled mess, lol! Things are starting to look a lot better so I've been using my hat/bandana less and less...

Blake, David, irishsailor, Thanx gentlemen for the kind words

Personally it was impossible for me to go unnoticed after my ht for at least a month. I would recommend trying to take as much time off as possible. Not trying to be a bummer but just giving you an honest assessment of my experience. Some on here have been very lucky in healing quickly after surgery, for me that was not the case. Good Luck with your procedure!

Stay far , far, far away from bosley...if your in Houston check out dr arocha, he's been posting some great results on here, I believe he's located in the Houston area

Hey all,
Here is my 4 month update, to quote a great band, "what a long strange trip." It felt as though I was never going to get out of the ugly duckling stage! I stopped staring every evening at my hairline because I would constantly wonder if anything was ever going to grow. For all of you about to go through this process, and those who have may agree with me, the surgery and healing time seems like a piece of cake when compared to the waiting around wondering if anything will grow. That has been the hardest part for me by far.
Almost on cue, i woke up one morning near the 4 month mark and patches that were barren or really thin seemed fuller. It seems as though the hairline is starting to form and I'm noticing new hairs popping up here and there but its coming in really, really slowly. The transformation really is a very subtle and slow process. I'm cautiously optimistic more growth is to come.
The photos are without toppik. I use a little the times I go out without a hat, nobody seems to notice or say anything. As a previous poster capelli11 mentioned on one of his updates, it feels great to not have to use a pound of toppik to go out.
On another note, big thanx to everyone on this board. I'm not too sure I'd be able to go through this whole process without the support and knowledge of all of you, and of course, the biggest thanx to the great Dr. Feller and Spex! Love, peace, and hairgrease!

I would abstain from nicotine at least a couple days before ht due to blood thinning and I'm assuming you should stay away from weed too.
I did have a toke or 2 a couple of days after my ht and all was/is well...
-
It is all becoming very real now as i have booked flights and accommodation too. I really can't wait now... yet full of apprehension, if that makes sense..
Support appreciated from you guys if anyone willing to offer it as always nice to know there is support out there.
I was a nervous wreck the night before my ht, but as im sure everyone on this thread can attest, dr feller will put you at ease the moment you walk thru the door. you will find as spex said, you're in the best of hands, so just chill:cool:

looking good man, congrats! and if memory serves me correct good job picking miami for the championship, hopefully you made a wager:)

hey guys.. been doing some research, the more research i do, the more i get confused. Live in los angeles.. looking for the best ht doc,.. dr. rahal or dr shapiro? or??
please help me.. tired of being afraid of windy days
Can't go wrong with either...have you consulted with them? H&w is not too far from la, they do fantastic work

Look into feller, true and dorin, Bernstein for NYC. I believe all of those doctors will recommend some form of medical therapy because the extent of your baldness could get worse. You probably will need 2500-3000 grafts is my best guess but if your not on some form of medical therapy you might find yourself needing a 2 nd procedure in the not so distant future. Good luck!

Thanks for all the advice. So I'm planning on scheduling a procedure with a very reputable doc, but he doesn't have any before/after pics of my hair type. They're are no pics on their website, on this site or anywhere else on the web. I've been talking with the patient advisor and he says he's working on getting some pics for me, but he still hasn't been able to find any successfully. The patient advisor "says" that they're worked on patients with AA hair and have had good results just like the rest. I know this doc does very good work with straight hair, but I'd feel better after seeing some pics with my hair type. What should I do?
Just wait and consult with a couple of other docs. Don't rush into this better to take your time and make a decision your totally comfortable with
Who would u say are top 5 ht surgeons globally?
