  1. I travel alot. Sleep on couches. Go camping. For weeks at a time. From my understanding minox has to be used pretty frequently. I just couldn't commit to it properly at this stage in my life and wouldn't want to carry it around with me everywhere I go. Later in life I may decide to use it.
  2. I don't assume everyone that has sex does it unprotected. That would be a pretty stupid assumption. I have protected sex regularly when picking up girls I don't know. But if I'm getting down with a Gf or someone I know and trust then I don't use protection. This Information really wasn't needed and has nothing to do with the topic but since you made incorrect assumptions on my position I thought I would clarify. I was personally curious as to why you are careful? Diseases and infections or because of the propecia considering that's what the thread is about. The question wasn't regarding the risks of unprotected sex more the risks of unprotected sex while on propecia.
  3. The shedding you mentioned could be from starting propecia, if you did? Which once the shedding is complete can bring back new hair 100% even on the sides. I have witnessed it on my own head. Also hair grows in cycles and depending on ones stress, diet and lifestyle follicles that have hair fall out don't close up completely for a few years meaning if you are healthy you can sometimes reverse this. With propecia and biotin and exercise and healthy foods. But I still think you have unrealistic outcomes. Your hair no matter what you do will never be like it was when you were 17 or 18 again. That is life. You have to learn to accept it. Stressing over it is only going to make it worse. Again in my opinion body hair is useless and looks pretty bad and is noticeably thinner and more brittle. Should only be used in extreme cases and the reason its not used on younger people is because its shit. As you have stated you want to try beat this early and get on with your 20's but in my opinion there is no beating it, only managing and making the best of your new life with hair loss. You can try fix the front of your hair line but before you know it the back of your hair will be falling out to and then you will be upset about that and have to fix that. Then the middle of your hair will start thinning and you will have to fix that. And if you have a FUT and body hair all mixed up on the top your head I suspect you are going to be pretty unhappy with the outcome. But hey im not a doctor and it might look great. Good luck
  4. kevers, are seriously saying you don't have unprotected sex. wow. And you wouldn't risk having unprotected sex: because of your on propecia? or beacause your scared of stds and sti's?
  5. I also choose to start fin and not bother with the hassle of rogain due to my sleeping at friends houses and camping and just being unpredictable like most young people. If I was older and had a routine and wife and kids I would definitely be on rogain aswell. I have stopped fin for 3 months before and it was a bad mistake. Hairloss in that 3 months was not only noticeable but at very high speed. But since starting again I have managed to stop the hairloss but at this stage it hasn't got back to where it was when I stopped which is sad because when I stopped I had noticed a pretty decent amount of regrowth from being on fin. It has got a lot better though. So in saying that start fin get through the shredding and stick it out and you should be pretty happy after about 6 months. As for the side effects I noticed very slight erection problems in the first few months and a little testicular pain but after a few months they went away. Sperm was noticeably more watery by a lot. But I have figured out a handful of pumpkin seeds a day completely changes that. Like any drug it effects your body and the best way to have the most beneficial results are to be healthy and eat healthy.
  6. My real advice would be get over it your hair is fine and worry about it when it becomes a real problem. But that wouldn't make a difference in how you feel or what you want to do. Also if you started propecia and your hair loss is speeding up it usually means that it comes back thicker. well that's what happened with me. But seriously in my opinion a doctor that is going to do a FUT on a head of hair like that must just enjoying slicing people open especially the fact your only 19. sounds crazy to me.
  7. I haven't logged on in a long time but man.... There is no way you want to be having a FUT at this time in your life and for that amount of hair loss. No way, no way, no way. How many grafts have you and the doctor decided on? I am almost 21 and been losing my hair since I was 18 and have felt the misery and down times, just before I was 19 I was 100% sure I was going to get a hair transplant and doing all the research ect. Instead I choose propecia and have been on it for almost 2 years. Im not going to say that its helped a lot it hasn't. But I have been happy the majority of the time and got through it. I have choose to put off the hair transplant for a few more years that is my choice. Anyway, I understand how you feel and how your going to do what you want to do. But my advice would be get a FUE and very minor touch ups. There is no need for a FUT.
  8. there was a little thing on channel 10 news in austraila on this a month back, with a few interviews, i was meaning to come here to start this thread but its already been done. here is a little info that i found on the topic. 'In August 2012, Scientists at the University of Pennsylvania announced that they had discovered an enzyme which caused baldness. They found that the enzyme Prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) was found to be present on the scalp of balding men at far higher levels than normal, preventing hair follicles from maturing and therefore stopping them from working and growing hair. Dr George Cotsarelis and his dermatological team at the University say that they are in talks with several pharmaceutical companies about developing treatments which could be available in two years.' it is all very exciting. if this works a lot of hair transplant surgeons will be out of a job.
  9. i have read about BHT body hair transplant and i think there is something simialr or the same with a different name anyway. i have been researching transplants of all kinds for months and woud like to know opinions on this option? does the hair grow back like body hair or head hair i really havent heard to many peoples thoughts on this type of transplant? i find it strange and am not considering it but would like to hear about people that have considered it or any info on it really as a surgeon i know offers it and really just like to hear what you think on body hair on head? thanks
  10. recently i read somewhere that a hair follicle doesnt die until 3 years after the hair falls out. what does this really mean?? is there more chance in bringing it back if it isnt dead?? is this statement true?? if the follicle dies is it all over? because at the moment dead and inactive are seeming the same to me both no hair. im 20 and been losing hair the last year lost quite alot but i guess the hair follicles are not dead yet?? just did 3 months on propecia and stopped due to penis problems which got pretty bad? in a relationship and would rather maintain my penis?? and its a bummer because it had shed and was really working and since stopping have lost a lot. would rogaine or regaine be good if my hair follicles are not dead?? is there similar results as i have heard propecia is better than rogaine? thank you
  11. im in a similar situation as you and around the same age a bit younger. my hairloss is getting pretty bad were i have to keep it a shaved as a buzz number 2 every few weeks to a month so its less noticable, i put off taking the fin for about 3 months which i absolutley regret as in those 3 months it got considerably worse than ever. while i put it off as my own choice if i could go back in time id take the risk and start it as soon as possible and hope for the best. its my 6th day on it and so far so good except for a bit of stomach issues and bloating.. which im hoping my body should adapt to in a week or two once its used to fin in my system. it comes down to how you feel about your hairloss.. i put it off thinking it wasnt to bad ill live with it but hairloss doesnt get better which for some reason i thought it would just not get worse.. the quicker you get on it the better. good luck
  12. also i have rogaine and am yet to start it as i though i will see how this guys and bring it in after a few months or should i start it now?? thanks
  13. so i started= b-complex 1 daily 1.25 fin daily saw palmetto 550mg 1 times daily and sometimes two times this morning was my 5th day running.. and i found that im getting a bit of diherrea, well constantly needed to poo and really yellow urine and needing to be alot. also im fit like surf row and go to the gym and getting a beer belly type thing.. im not to worried just hoping they will pass and if not was thinking about droping the fin to a MWF schedule as some ppl have stated they do on here.. thanks
  14. doc appoint monday arvo should start fin tuesday morning. ive heard people say its recomended to take fin same time every morning which is no real problem just wanted to clarify?? and also is alcohol consumption safe while on fin?? regimen = 1mg fin daily roagin foam twice daily b - complex 1 daily msm 1000mg twice daily biotin 5000mcg 1 daily saw palmetto 500mg twice daily how does that sound? cant wait to get into tuesday morning, this site has helped so much and i feel a bit more confident and happy about losing my hair as funny as it sounds. wish me luck
  15. i find it hard to believe that after a small fue or even fut that i wouldnt have the laxity or enough donor to go for a second transplant when some 40 yr olds go for two or 3 ht's. and u pretty much answered the questoin with what i thought, the only real reason there is a too young is because you cant tell the future of what might happen and there is limited donor hair available. on my path i will see how the fin and minoxidile goes for a year or so but i might be one of those few that take the gamble but of course not until i way up every other option. overall the risks dont seem to out weigh the benefits in my point of view.
  16. i dont really think i need to make a new thread in the hair transplant section so i will just ask this here.. not saying i am going to get a ht right now because i know that you will all say dont do that your too young but from what i have read.. the only real issue with hair transplant at a young age is that you will run out of supply of the hair at the back when you need more in a future ht?? is that the main thing its all i can gather from hair transplant at a young age being a bad descision ignoring the risks that a ht has for anyone any age.. and in contrary with the progression of HT's in the future it would make sense that HST, HSI and Bodyhair transplants would become more advanced meaning that supply really will become less of an issue? no i can not tell the future just a assumption on the way things might go.. again im not gonig to get one until i stick out the meds for as long as possible and put it off as suggested by everyone. i do take your advice seriously and believe you know what you are talking about but i found this a interesting topic/question?
  17. yeh my doctor in a previous visit has already explained proscar is and cutting them up is the cheaper alternative. and as for the side effects, from what i have heard that they ease or you get use to them in long term use and that they usually appear in the first few months of use, hopefully i dont get them or can live through them. i also believe rogaine is the go? should i apply one or two times a day to begin with?? current regimen (will be starting tomorow) fin=1mg daily rogaine=apply at night before bed ????? b-complex tablet = one daily biotin tablet
  18. thanks for the replys, i have had blood tests and i am fine fit young healthy man, stress could be one of the reasons it has increased a bit over the last few months as i have been worrying about it alot and there is so much info and strange theories like rubbing dog food in your hair to doing upside down handstands. its all so overwhelming. pretty much i am going to start propecia and minixdile and contunie a b-complx and add biotin and hopefully a saw palmetto to the mix. i wish i started propecia a few months ago when it was recommended but i had read so many bad things on it. also should i start the minixdile and propecia together or do a month or two on one before starting the other to see if i can remove one if i do suffer side effects, the only reason im so worried about these side effects is well my girlfriend will be abit upset if we cant you know. im happy to keep everyone updated on how things are gonig and ill add photos of my hairpre/post propecia and minixdile as it seems like people on this site are very interested in peoples progress. as for my scalp i dont really suffer from dandruff and my hair at the back of my head and what is left on the top is quite healthy as i exercise regulary and have overall a pretty good diet, dont drink soft drink or eat fast food, lots of fruit vegs and nuts proteins etc. i no my doctor will reccomend me a dose for the propecia but and maybe the minixdile but i was wandering where a good starting point would be 1mg every 2nd day or less or more and minixdile 2 times a day or once?? also more advice on which minixdile product would be helpful as there are quite a few to choose from? rogaine vs spectral UHP
  19. corvettester you make a very valid point but it is beyond that, im 19 and i feel no matter what any psychatrist says to me it will not change how i feel. its not like they can say its normal it happens to lots of people. being 19 and being worse off than a lot of you 30 and 40 year olds should make u guys feel better knowing atleast you got through most of your 20's with some hair. i to dream of what i would be doing right now if i had a full head of hair like i did once, definatley would not be on this site daily searching for answers.
  20. recently i have found awesome site and has helped teach me alot, but it is still very over whelming with the amount of info etc to digest. my hair is super thin and has been thining for about a year at a very rapid rate and receding a little too. my scalp is barley covered on the top of my head. at this rate i will pretty much bald on the top of my head in a year or so. i have male pattern baldness caused from genetics but everyone else in the family didnt begin to lose there hair till they were around 30. i have really reached the point where i need to get into a serious fix mode and have been researching continually all the options i have. many people say hair transplant is a stupid move for a 19yr old but from what i have read fin or propecia could be just as stupid, no sex drive, sterile, shrinkage, ED etc. at a peak age of sexual drive it seems to me it would seriously mess with hormones and natural growing and etc. personally if i began losing my hair at 30 i wouldn't really care but just finishing high school and being almost bald is killing me. could a small FUE procedure be possible to make it less noticable and as i said i dont really need a life long fix at this point in time i would be happy with 5 - 10 years with a full head of hair and then i wouldnt mind looking like shrek. minoxidil is also said to have a shedding stage where im sure i would look completley bald which isnt really what i want and similar side effects. while i am considering trying both these options fin and minoxidil it is scary being so young. that brings me to what minoxidil product is best oral, liquid, foam etc?? on the topic of side effects if i began these and noticed unbearable side effects could they be reversed if i stopped the medications or will it be something i am stuck with? its a pity that the only real cures for hair loss have so many terrible reviews of people saying that they couldnt have kids, couldnt get hard etc with fin/propecia i was wandering if alcohol has any effect on it being 19 drinking/occasional drug use is something i experiment with and the strictness of this product what if i miss a day dose etc? fin/propecia vs dua/avodart?? does avodart have less side effects and is it prescribed in australia? the point of this is to ask opinions and advice on what is the right step for me to take, i see that many of you have a regimen. well that is what i want. also what is msm and how does that effect hair and same with nizoral? also heard people on this site refer to the big 3 and am unsure what exactly the big 3 are? i no theres a lot in there but really i could go on forever, i just need some sort of straight forward path for myself to follow... research on hair loss is endless with no real answer? thankyou
