  1. I travel alot. Sleep on couches. Go camping. For weeks at a time. From my understanding minox has to be used pretty frequently. I just couldn't commit to it properly at this stage in my life and wouldn't want to carry it around with me everywhere I go. Later in life I may decide to use it.
  2. I don't assume everyone that has sex does it unprotected. That would be a pretty stupid assumption. I have protected sex regularly when picking up girls I don't know. But if I'm getting down with a Gf or someone I know and trust then I don't use protection. This Information really wasn't needed and has nothing to do with the topic but since you made incorrect assumptions on my position I thought I would clarify. I was personally curious as to why you are careful? Diseases and infections or because of the propecia considering that's what the thread is about. The question wasn't regarding the risks of unprotected sex more the risks of unprotected sex while on propecia.
  3. The shedding you mentioned could be from starting propecia, if you did? Which once the shedding is complete can bring back new hair 100% even on the sides. I have witnessed it on my own head. Also hair grows in cycles and depending on ones stress, diet and lifestyle follicles that have hair fall out don't close up completely for a few years meaning if you are healthy you can sometimes reverse this. With propecia and biotin and exercise and healthy foods. But I still think you have unrealistic outcomes. Your hair no matter what you do will never be like it was when you were 17 or 18 again. That is life. You have to learn to accept it. Stressing over it is only going to make it worse. Again in my opinion body hair is useless and looks pretty bad and is noticeably thinner and more brittle. Should only be used in extreme cases and the reason its not used on younger people is because its shit. As you have stated you want to try beat this early and get on with your 20's but in my opinion there is no beating it, only managing and making the best of your new life with hair loss. You can try fix the front of your hair line but before you know it the back of your hair will be falling out to and then you will be upset about that and have to fix that. Then the middle of your hair will start thinning and you will have to fix that. And if you have a FUT and body hair all mixed up on the top your head I suspect you are going to be pretty unhappy with the outcome. But hey im not a doctor and it might look great. Good luck
  4. kevers, are seriously saying you don't have unprotected sex. wow. And you wouldn't risk having unprotected sex: because of your on propecia? or beacause your scared of stds and sti's?
  5. I also choose to start fin and not bother with the hassle of rogain due to my sleeping at friends houses and camping and just being unpredictable like most young people. If I was older and had a routine and wife and kids I would definitely be on rogain aswell. I have stopped fin for 3 months before and it was a bad mistake. Hairloss in that 3 months was not only noticeable but at very high speed. But since starting again I have managed to stop the hairloss but at this stage it hasn't got back to where it was when I stopped which is sad because when I stopped I had noticed a pretty decent amount of regrowth from being on fin. It has got a lot better though. So in saying that start fin get through the shredding and stick it out and you should be pretty happy after about 6 months. As for the side effects I noticed very slight erection problems in the first few months and a little testicular pain but after a few months they went away. Sperm was noticeably more watery by a lot. But I have figured out a handful of pumpkin seeds a day completely changes that. Like any drug it effects your body and the best way to have the most beneficial results are to be healthy and eat healthy.
  6. My real advice would be get over it your hair is fine and worry about it when it becomes a real problem. But that wouldn't make a difference in how you feel or what you want to do. Also if you started propecia and your hair loss is speeding up it usually means that it comes back thicker. well that's what happened with me. But seriously in my opinion a doctor that is going to do a FUT on a head of hair like that must just enjoying slicing people open especially the fact your only 19. sounds crazy to me.
  7. I haven't logged on in a long time but man.... There is no way you want to be having a FUT at this time in your life and for that amount of hair loss. No way, no way, no way. How many grafts have you and the doctor decided on? I am almost 21 and been losing my hair since I was 18 and have felt the misery and down times, just before I was 19 I was 100% sure I was going to get a hair transplant and doing all the research ect. Instead I choose propecia and have been on it for almost 2 years. Im not going to say that its helped a lot it hasn't. But I have been happy the majority of the time and got through it. I have choose to put off the hair transplant for a few more years that is my choice. Anyway, I understand how you feel and how your going to do what you want to do. But my advice would be get a FUE and very minor touch ups. There is no need for a FUT.
  8. there was a little thing on channel 10 news in austraila on this a month back, with a few interviews, i was meaning to come here to start this thread but its already been done. here is a little info that i found on the topic. 'In August 2012, Scientists at the University of Pennsylvania announced that they had discovered an enzyme which caused baldness. They found that the enzyme Prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) was found to be present on the scalp of balding men at far higher levels than normal, preventing hair follicles from maturing and therefore stopping them from working and growing hair. Dr George Cotsarelis and his dermatological team at the University say that they are in talks with several pharmaceutical companies about developing treatments which could be available in two years.' it is all very exciting. if this works a lot of hair transplant surgeons will be out of a job.
  9. i have read about BHT body hair transplant and i think there is something simialr or the same with a different name anyway. i have been researching transplants of all kinds for months and woud like to know opinions on this option? does the hair grow back like body hair or head hair i really havent heard to many peoples thoughts on this type of transplant? i find it strange and am not considering it but would like to hear about people that have considered it or any info on it really as a surgeon i know offers it and really just like to hear what you think on body hair on head? thanks
  10. recently i read somewhere that a hair follicle doesnt die until 3 years after the hair falls out. what does this really mean?? is there more chance in bringing it back if it isnt dead?? is this statement true?? if the follicle dies is it all over? because at the moment dead and inactive are seeming the same to me both no hair. im 20 and been losing hair the last year lost quite alot but i guess the hair follicles are not dead yet?? just did 3 months on propecia and stopped due to penis problems which got pretty bad? in a relationship and would rather maintain my penis?? and its a bummer because it had shed and was really working and since stopping have lost a lot. would rogaine or regaine be good if my hair follicles are not dead?? is there similar results as i have heard propecia is better than rogaine? thank you
  11. im in a similar situation as you and around the same age a bit younger. my hairloss is getting pretty bad were i have to keep it a shaved as a buzz number 2 every few weeks to a month so its less noticable, i put off taking the fin for about 3 months which i absolutley regret as in those 3 months it got considerably worse than ever. while i put it off as my own choice if i could go back in time id take the risk and start it as soon as possible and hope for the best. its my 6th day on it and so far so good except for a bit of stomach issues and bloating.. which im hoping my body should adapt to in a week or two once its used to fin in my system. it comes down to how you feel about your hairloss.. i put it off thinking it wasnt to bad ill live with it but hairloss doesnt get better which for some reason i thought it would just not get worse.. the quicker you get on it the better. good luck
  12. also i have rogaine and am yet to start it as i though i will see how this guys and bring it in after a few months or should i start it now?? thanks
  13. so i started= b-complex 1 daily 1.25 fin daily saw palmetto 550mg 1 times daily and sometimes two times this morning was my 5th day running.. and i found that im getting a bit of diherrea, well constantly needed to poo and really yellow urine and needing to be alot. also im fit like surf row and go to the gym and getting a beer belly type thing.. im not to worried just hoping they will pass and if not was thinking about droping the fin to a MWF schedule as some ppl have stated they do on here.. thanks
  14. doc appoint monday arvo should start fin tuesday morning. ive heard people say its recomended to take fin same time every morning which is no real problem just wanted to clarify?? and also is alcohol consumption safe while on fin?? regimen = 1mg fin daily roagin foam twice daily b - complex 1 daily msm 1000mg twice daily biotin 5000mcg 1 daily saw palmetto 500mg twice daily how does that sound? cant wait to get into tuesday morning, this site has helped so much and i feel a bit more confident and happy about losing my hair as funny as it sounds. wish me luck
  15. i find it hard to believe that after a small fue or even fut that i wouldnt have the laxity or enough donor to go for a second transplant when some 40 yr olds go for two or 3 ht's. and u pretty much answered the questoin with what i thought, the only real reason there is a too young is because you cant tell the future of what might happen and there is limited donor hair available. on my path i will see how the fin and minoxidile goes for a year or so but i might be one of those few that take the gamble but of course not until i way up every other option. overall the risks dont seem to out weigh the benefits in my point of view.
