  1. I fully agree, i've seen scars that are obvious even when buzzed to a 3 or 4. I know someone who did fue for just the hairline, then buzzed his whole head. It gives a very cool and confident look. But its also a very expensive way just to rebuild a hairline shadow. There was a thread a month ago where past fue patients said they buzzed to a 1 with no visible signs. Its somewhere on this forum.
  2. Before the HT, I used to shampoo every other day. Now i'm a few months post HT, I'm wondering if its recommended I continue shampooing everyday or go back to every other day?? I see benefits for both: 1)Shampoo everyday will clean your scalp and remove the rogaine residue. 2)Shampoo every other day will prevent your hair from drying and maintain some essential hair oils.
  3. his results coming in nicely. damn, too bad i can't get toppik to stay on that well (if he's using it).
  4. not sure, but i thought the doctor's in canada charge a flat fee (no tax), or at least already built into the per graft costs posted on the website.
  5. looks pretty good...his HT is coming along nicely. In about 6-7 months i think he'll be very happy. Big improvement from before. The british tabloids just love bugging this guy and doesn't realize that Rooney cuts his hair waaay shorter than other HT patients, and now gets it cut daily post HT (http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/2011/09/23/wayne-rooney-tells-3am-of-the-secret-to-his-goal-scoring-success-his-lucky-haircuts-115875-23439595/).
  6. I shaved it all, the doctor suggested it and you'll feel much more confident in public. I was planning on shaving just the recipient area, then saw how silly it looked. Better to look like a skinhead than bozo the clown (bald on top, hair on sides). From results posted here, it seems most people end up shaving it if they didn't do it before surgery. Also, its MUCH easier to clean and apply the vitamins/creams post op.
  7. After a few months when the new hair start sprouting, your self consciousness with friends/family will go to zero. Of course, there are special times where you might have to be a little self conscious. I've sat in a crowded salon where a women was fading a man's hair...asked if this was a HT scar...and complimented on a very nice transplant. That musta been a little embarrassing but I doubt the guy really cared after he walked out of the salon. But in normal everyday life, no one will look close enough at your hair to notice anything. I stopped worrying about my transplant after a couple months. I'm more worried about how my head of hair looks looks due to nasty/greasy minox. Looking at your pics, you still have a lot of native hairs...it'll be very easy to blend in with the transplanted hairs. No one will know you got a HT.
  8. i used xandrox and kirkland minox for over 5 years with no noticeable results (only once/day). Then I had a transplant and was suggested to use minox for at least a year. I used the stuff prescribed by rahal (2x/day). After a few months, i've notice dozens of hairs 4mm "below" the transplanted hairline grow about 5 mm in length and pigmented. So I don't know if these new hairs are transplanted hairs or actually grew from the minox. The reason I suspect it might be minox is because they are growing a few mm below where the transplanted hairline took place. They are also much finer than the transplanted hairs that are growing. Don't know if its possible that transplanted follicles have awaken old dead follicles. That's also why i'm kinda hesitant to start on rogaine foam. Since this liquid might be working and I heard the foam causes shedding (as well no one seems to continue using it past the shed phase so I don't know about it as a longer-term replacement to the liquid, even though the liquid looks greasy as hell).
  9. yeah, guess you don't really need it now since it looks full enough. By the way, did you use minox after your surgeries to help the follicles nourish? Does H&W suggest/require you or other patients do so?
  10. The short haircut looks awesome! Should keep it like that. While there is some contrast with the back, you can always use slight concealer when you're in harsh lighting events. But it just looks like very slow natural diffuse and not a transplant at all. The buzz style looks so much more modern/young/hip. Your longer haircut has too much of a old-man combover look, while the shorter buzz cut makes ya look 20 years younger. You could hit the nightclub scene again, lol. I think people should go for a little more modern hairstyle after spending so much money on a transplant.
  11. omg, your FUE results look amazing. With your buzzed down cut, it looks so sleek and natural. Your results look even better than Rooneys.
  12. so do you think the foam causes "more" shedding/balding than the liquid formula? I agree with SugarHighs above, from researching this and other forums, it seems there are tons of posters complaining about how the foam causes massive sheds. It also seems they quite right after the shed and go back to the liquid, so hard to read up on results. If one has used the liquid for a while, why would the foam cause a shed?? (since same ingredients).
  13. was told nizoral after 6 months and to use something milder (like organic shampoo) until then.
  14. it really depends on what you look like prior to the HT. IF you are used to buzzing your hair to a #2/#3 guard, then you can go back to work after a few weeks and no one would notice you did anything since you hair will be the same length. However, if you wore your hair long (a few inches), then it'll look awkward when you come back since you have to shave the recipient area. Ie. if you needed a few thousand grafts, the shave would be noticeable since there will be a bald patch where the shaving was done. If you want NO ONE to notice, then just remember hair grows 1/2 inch/month, so you can calculate how much time you need.
  15. been using rahal's prescribed minox for the past few months post HT. The post-op looks great without the minox, but once I use the minox, it clumps, greases and makes the hair look nasty-wet 24/7. The prescribed minox is like the kirkland stuff, maybe even greasier. 1)Do you think its better to stick with one minox formula a few months post HT? I'm very tempted to try one of the "dryer" formulas, but don't know if switching so soon will disrupt the follicles. 2)would a doctor prescribed minox formula (high glycerin) be better for absorption and whether some faster drying formulas will not be as beneficial post HT? thx
