  1. $5000 for just the ACell injection is a rip-off and a steep price. I paid 10 times less than that price. Two months ago, I did my 2nd FUE procedure along with the ACell injection. During the procedure being half awake, I did feel sharp pitching as I was being injected with ACell. Whether or not the ACell will help me remains to be seen. But I'm not too worried over a few hundred dollars for the injections.
  2. I was browsing through the forums and happen to stumble into this thread because I've had not visited this website on a consistent basis. To summarized my situation, I was aware that one procedure was not enough for decent coverage, and that I would someday will have to get another procedure. In addition, my hair is fine (not thick), and my overall donor area coverage is below average. I would agree that harvesting outside the safe zone was a bit aggressive, but this was my way of harvesting the most grafts for my Norwood level. I would certainly agree this is debatable for my situation, since I refuse to do strip procedure. After a 1-year absent, I recently had my second procedure done. I only received 1,100 FUE graft, but this time, harvesting only the safe zone area. In addition, I elected to try the ACell injection. This second procedure was to mainly fill up more density around my hairline, and add a little bit more coverage towards the back. I had the option to add in the strip procedure if I wanted to yield more grafts. But as I have mention previously, strip is not an option for me. I'll still have thinning on the top of my head, but I'll decide someday if I want to elect another procedure. I am taking photos to document my recent procedure. But this time, I am not going to upload photos, because my profile seems to be a bashing target towards Dr Diep no matter what I upload. So I'll wait until my one year result if I should share. I don't expect the world's greatest results, but some density coverage is what I hope to achieve. Those who never met Dr Diep certainly have the right to voice their critical opinions. But when you have consistently new patients seeking his services, you also have to agree that many people are satisfied with his work. I have never heard one patient with a disaster story or zero growth from this clinic.
  3. I can answer this topic. I recently had my second FUE procedure done by Dr Diep. He told me his old YouTube account was hacked, so all his videos are gone from his old account. But he still has his raw video files. As you can imagine, he was not happy about it. hairtransplantmd is his new YouTube account.
  4. Fallen, please consider switching to another doctor. I wish you the best with your future results. I'm looking at the photo gallery from this doctor's website, and I cannot believe these results are posted online. If these photos are considered his "best" work, I cannot imagine what the other results are like... There is not one photo on their website that I would consider even a "normal" looking result. The clinic cannot even get the hairlines to look natural. It's almost comical looking at these patient photos. This makes Bosley look like the gold standard compared to this clinic. Moderators - Please look into this. No future patients should go through this experience.
  5. Hang in there! I'm getting my second FUE procedure with Dr Diep next week!
  6. I am a NW 4-5, and my first transplant was only 2,000 FUE grafts. My case was actually discussed from another thread about a year ago. My first transplant was to mainly create a hairline and to spread out the grafts as best as possible in the front foundation. My doctor acknowledged that one transplant will not complete a normal result. I waited about 15 months to do my upcoming 2nd procedure because of scheduling conflict and 2nd transplant was not my top priority last year. I will not consider strip method. So FUE is one drawback if you are not patient, don't want to do multiple sessions, and cost more.
  7. In my first transplant, the one thing I regreted is not shaving off my head before the procedure. When you get a transplant, you don't realized how much hair you had lost. So your existing hair is no way to be able to "combover" your look. By day 9, I ended up shaving my entire head. You just have to be careful not to disturb your transplanted hairs if you buzzcut yourself.
  8. I can only speak for those who are doing FUE. If this is your first transplant the best thing to do before your procedure is to completely shave your entire head. Let your co-workers and family get used to your look. In fact, I'm getting my second FUE procedure at the end of this month. I've scheduled off work for 11 days (or 7 business days). My procedure is on Friday, so I have two weekends to recover my donor area. And if you can time it right during winter holiday, you can save your vacation time with Christmas and New Years holiday. There's no doubt you'll get some stares or remarks when you return to work. But after a couple weeks to a few months, it will all be forgotten.
  9. I have fine hair and did FUE. There will be issues with density, but depends on the level of your hairloss and how many implanted grafts. You can view my photos in my profile. I'm going to do a 2nd procedure to add more density very soon!
  10. My first comment was at a dinner restaurant with family and relatives. My uncle said out loud "What's wrong with your hairline? Balding?" I was so embarrassed and almost lost my appetite. I did not dignify with a response. But that moment made me realized I was losing my hair and no longer in denial. Even on my HT 6-month post-op, my grandmother said out loud in the dinner table, "You're growing hair!" I also did not dignify with a response. lol. Those with a full head of hair (especially women) do not realize that balding people are sensitive to hair loss comments. It's one thing to say it behind close doors, but to say in front of other guests is simply being a jackass.
  11. As a one-time HT patient, I would expect the following (aside from medical school): Friendly Personality - Most first timers are extremely nervous. So a friendly doctor needs to calm and relax the patient. If someone is in a bad mood working on your grafts, then this would be a traumatic nightmare sitting on the chair, lol. Attentive to Details - If doing FUE procedure, this job can be mentally exhausting. You got to have steady hands for a long period of time. Availability - Working weekends is a must, since patients tend to be available for procedures on weekends. And must be able to work long hours starting early in a day, especially if the procedure is FUE. That's all I can think of at the moment, but I would contact your doctor and ask for advice to pursue this profession.
  12. I followed this Dr Diep's patient in the past. But keep in mind that this patient did several procedures to get this great density look. And he has great hair characteristic with that wavy hair to give good density appearance. I'm a Dr Diep patient as well. But I only had one procedure, so my result is no where as close to this patient's density. I'd like to get one more procedure for better density and to fill in future bald spots. The number of procedures and grafts really depends on your level of satisfaction.
  13. I have a different mindset when I decided on a HT. Much like every first timer, we are skeptic if hair transplant works. The potential of being an unsuccessful patient did cross my mind several times. I did my procedure with FUE mainly due to minimal scarring and pain, less chance of infection, and faster healing as compared to strip method. Putting money aside with the FUE procedure, the worse case scenerio if I had 0% growth, at least I would not have any visible scar to show for it. This was my thought process and didn't think twice when I scheduled my procedure. Thankfully after one year, my results came out okay. The only regret I have is not doing it sooner. Life is all about risk. Nothing is guarantee no matter which clinic you choose. But if you choose the right doctor, the rewards of a hair transplant journey will far outweight the risks. It will truly change your life and the way you perceive yourself to the world. Until you have the courage to pull the trigger, do more research on your potential doctors and read everything there is to know about hair transplants.
  14. Yes, that's normal. You're entering the worse phase of the hair transplant. Hang in there for another 2-3 months.
  15. I bumped my head in the refrigerator at 2-3 days post-op, but my grafts were fine. No bleeding, then no worries.
