  1. How many days after HT you started using Toppik? Are there any safe concealers that can be used right after HT?
  2. Is it true that with a used Harris punch, the transection rates are over 2%, but with new Harris punch, the transection rates are close to 0%? I am trying to decide if I should ask my doctor to use a new Harris punch or go with a used one.
  3. Yes. You are correct. Toppik does contain Ammonium Chloride which could cause scalp irritation. But looks like Naofibres have no harsh chemicals. But as you said it's good to keep the transplanted area free of any chemicals for at least 2 weeks. I have decent donor area - 250 sq cms (10X25). My doctor says he can get 3000 grafts from this.
  4. Does anyone know if the hair concealer - Toppik is safe to use after HT? Toppik is made of natural Keratine and has no chemicals (that's what they claim!)
  5. If only the donor area needs to be shaved, I am wondering if I let the hair just above the donor area grow long enough so that it cover most of the shaven donor area. For the front, since I use Toppik, I assume this won't be visible. Does anyone know if Toppik could damage the new transplanted hair? My doctor doesn't think so since Toppik is made of natural Keratin, but thought of asking this extremely knowledgeable and helpful board.
  6. Thanks for the response. I guess only the donor area needs to be trimmed. Since I am planning to get back to work within 2 days of the transplant, I don't want to look funny with a red donor area! What's the maximum length of hair allowed to be able to do the harvesting?
  7. I am planning to get HT done in the fall. My doctor is insisting that I have to shave my head before the transplant (FUE). Is this a requirement or just a convenience to the doctor?
  8. Is it required that the head be shaved before doing a FUE? I don't want to shave my head but my doctor insists that the head must be shaved or else the harvest yield would be less than 2000.
  9. No. I am not opposed to travelling. I live in California but planning on vacation to India. So looking for reputed FUE surgeons in India
  10. I am planning to have my HT done in India during my vacation this summer. I may need around 3500 grafts. Based on my research I short listed a few of them. Dr Bhatti Dr Radha Dr Kaila I would like to request input from this forum members who is the best among the three?
  11. May be they offer a steep discount if combined with HT. Even then, 10 times doesnt' make sense for a standalone Acell/PRP treatment especially when everyone knows that this won't work (as a standalone).
  12. No. Dr Prasad's office quoted $5,000 just for PRP as a standalone treatment, I am curious. What's the standard cost of a standalone PRP?
  13. Thanks for your input. I was carried away by Dr Prasad's reviews and testimonials. Probably they are scam. I certainly don't want to waste $5,000 of my hard earned money knowing that these won't work. I will probably muster some courage and get FUE done, which seems to be the only genuine option available right now, with 100%. Do you have any suggestions for the best surgeon who does FUE, preferably in California or India?

  15. Thanks for the detailed informative response. I did have a hair transplant surgery (FUE) about 10 years back. But the density is very poor as the surgeon tried to cover too much of bald space with less transplants. As a result my hair is very thin near the hairline and extremely thin on my crown. Based on the case studies available on the internet, I was wondering if Acell,PRP would help increase the thickness of hair as well as promote some hair regrowth on the bald spots. The before/after pictures available on Dr Prasad's website looks promising - assuming they are genuine.
