  1. Wow, I'd be happy with a result like that! I am same age as that patient but only just started meds in earnest. Will drop an email and photos to the Rahal clinic and speak to some UK members here who I see have had a transplant with them.
  2. From what I've read it depends on existing hair in the area but that 40-50grafts or follices per sq/cm provides a dense look. I too would like work done on my crown and keen to establish which doctors have had the most success with rebuilding crowns, successfully, in one pass. In terms of how you've described how you'd want your crown to look it would appear to be a natural/logical way of thinking but I would want to hear from a doctor in a face to face consultation so as to manage my expectations. Good luck.
  3. Difficult to say I guess but I just started Propecia myself just under a month ago in addition to Regaine Extra Strength foam and was told Propecia takes at least 3 months to start having a visible effect in terms of reducing./stopping hairloss and then 6-12 months before visible improvement. It depends on how many follicles you have remaining outside of your existing hair that are in a non-visible phase at present. Provided propecia works for you it should maximise what you have remaining in the zone, but you won't know that until a few months continued use. Good luck.
  4. Thanks Albion71, its an excellent point you raise and only yesterday Mick from Farjo actually advised I wait a year based on my pictures and should I see significant improvement that that might reduce the amount of or even proclude the need for surgery. This follows on from Dr Wong who initially said to review after 6 months propecia use (he advised I start taking it via David their UK consultant). I am happy to stick tight for now and less anxious about having a HT immediately. Good luck and safe journey to Transmed.
  5. Thanks for the intro and welcome David, looking forward to discussion and sharing advice/stories with fellow members of the forum

  6. Thanks. Am waiting on SMG's response to my online consult and H&W also offer some travel.reimbursement for overseas patients. Will keep reading up amd askong questions. I have a date in dec in mind for surgery. Cheers
  7. As part of my research I was advised by one clinic (coalition member) to start taking propecia immediately (this was back in May 2011) and then have surgery in 6 months once hairloss has hopefully stabilised. Am 3 months in to regaine extra strength foam use and seems to be going ok although still early to say. Having just read Albion71s blog and also Jeremiah's experience I am swaying away from considering my quote from Transmed and focusing on other clinics for my potential surgery later in the year. Good luck Jeremiah with your outcome and will keep a look out for your updates if you decide to post any.
  8. Ditto everyone's thoughts Albion71 and sorry to hear of your disappointing outcome. I hope they will sort it out or compensate you. I received a quote from Transmed for a HT recently and was giving them serious thought and a search of the forum directed me to your blog.
  9. Good luck with your HT and I agree with your comments about this site! I just signed up today after reading through this site for a number of weeks. Am mulling through a number of online consultations and costs I've received from many of the coalition members on here. I intend to now ask members of their experiences first hand before having my surgery towards the end of this year. As a UK based person there is only Farjo clinic that comes particularly highly recommended on here (I am awaiting their response as they are busy!) so I have mainly looked overseas judging by recommendations I have read.
