  1. First, thanks so much for the compliments..I wish I could take the credit...but have to chalk that up to Dr. Keller. That being said, I hadn't even thought about the temples, that was all his idea and very glad I went with that suggestion. Many men don't realize how that part of the hairline changes with age as well, as we are so focused on the receding or bald spot in the back. If I do another pass, it will definitely included lowering the hairline on the left and right a little. I was cautious initially as I did not want to overdo that part, partially because I did not want it not look around my age and/or did not want too drastic of a change (I tried to keep the fact I had it done to a minimum.) Again, thanks so much for the compliments...especially for the "mid 30's" part.... lol
  2. Thanks so much azakdan! These message boards helped me so much during the year I was doing intense research, and I hope I can continue to give back or help others.
  3. Thanks so much Ernie. Yes, I am still off propecia. The side effects, mainly the sexual side effects were too much for me and to me wasn't worth it. I continue to use Nizoral...but I am not as religious with it as I should be.
  4. Thank-you so much rev333 and David! I really appreciate it. It was, and continues to be one of the best things I have done for myself in my life. No price could be placed on the confidence it restored and happiness it gave me.
  5. It's been almost 5 years. Reading my last post, I tried to grow it longer, and it looked alright, but I think if looks better how I keep it now (pic attached.) I think it needs just a little more density. I am now thinking about going back to Dr. Keller to bring the hairline down just a little, more on either side, not the center, add some to my crown, and thicken up the initial trouble areas. I'll keep everyone posted. I can't believe so much time has gone by. Also wanted to say that every once in a while you hear about the transplanted hair falling out...I have not noticed any of that to date. Always willing to answer questions and help others be as happy as I am!
  6. Been a while since I've been on here. First, I wanted to say that I noticed thickening at least to the 18 month mark, but I think even after that. It's been a little over two years and I haven't noticed any further receding in my old hair line. All is well....at least on the top of my head. I just had the urge to update and wasn't thinking new pics would interest or benefit anyone, but then I looked back and noticed I didn't even post an 18 month update. So, I will take some new pics and post them, hopefully by this weekend......kinda the final result pics. Also, stay tuned....I think I am going to grow my hair long.....i need a change and curious as to what the HT will look like.
  7. And I hope it went without saying but along with the gratefulness to this website, I want to thank the all the people that moderate, upkeep, and work to provide this resource for us. Thanks Future_HT_Doc and TakingThePlunge!
  8. Thanks so much for the compliments and recognition of my documentation of my experience. Of course the real compliments should go to Dr. Keller for providing such incredible results. I am forever grateful to both this message board/website, the members, as well as Dr. Keller and his great staff. It truly was a life changer for me! Always here for anyone that has any questions.
  9. Thanks Arrie! I would have to say that was the most interesting compliments I have gotten on these boards. haha
  10. Hey nativeremdies, what did you mean be "across the entire length" of my forehead? Do you mean a straight-across hairline? I definitely think he did an incredible job at reconstructing what my actual hair line used to look like. He also stressed that he didn't want it to look strange when I am 20 years older - it was great that he took the future into consideration. I think it is a perfect balance. And thanks for the compliments. I love this doctor too!
  11. Hey tacolinowest, I apologize I thought I had replied to this. I am going through and replying here and there when I get a chance. To answer your question, no I am not on finasteride I was on it for about a year I think but discontinued it due to the side effects. I had zero libido and ED problems and to me it wasn't worth that. Thank god the problems were not permanent and everything resolved itself after a while. I do use Minoxidil foam on my crown and use Nizoral shampoo couple times a week. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Take-care.
  12. Thanks a lot chrisdav. I really appreciate the compliments and support during this whole experience. Hope you are well.
  13. Thanks much! So, it looks like you are having a procedure with Dr. Feller in April? I've read a lot of positive posts about him. I'm excited for you man....truly a life changing event in many different ways.
  14. kujii, First, you seem to have good hair...which is a great start. From a lot of reading, and from my experience, the Nizoral can greatly thin your hair in the beginning. For me, I think it thinned for a few months before it grew back. Between the initial loss just from Nizoral starting to grow back, combine with the transplanted hairs continuing to mature...I think you will see nothing but positive in the upcoming months. Waiting is the hardest part, and if you obsess like it sounds that you do (and as I do also) it just makes it harder. Stay positive. Know that it is a process, and you have a great doctor that wants you to be a success story! As far as the Propecia, just try to really pay attention. Don't expect the side effects, but also don't ignore them if they start to surface. I know for a fact that at least for some people, the side effects are not just in "their head." But I also know many people that had no side effects at all. It is not going to hurt to at least try. You are still using the Nizoral, right? Best of luck, and hang in there...it will more than likely get better.
  15. Thanks a lot man! I just read your profile and your story. You really went through a lot, but it also seems like you really know your stuff. I'm also going to shoot you an email. Best wishes.
  16. I've been too wrapped up in life to reflect at the 18 month mark as I mentioned. But, my doctor did send me some before/after pics that were taken at the office. I put them side by side and added text, and thought I would post them. Hope everyone is staying warm.
  17. Ok, well I decided to reflect more when my 18 month mark comes around, as that is when the hair is supposedly at its final maturation. I was correct in my previous post that I had shed some with the switch from finasteride to minoxidil. It all came back and I am feeling good. I don't remember if I mentioned it, but I had been experienced ED problems, now that I look back on it, for a good majority of the time I was on finasteride/proscar/propecia. I am happy to report that everything is back to normal "down there" and thank-god it was not permanent as some reports suggest it can be. I am coming up on 14 months and will post pics at the 15th month mark. Hope everyone is well. It seems like it has been a while.
  18. Sounds like you are busy George. Didn't mean to rush you with updates at all. Just was curious about your journey and any news. I was very much in the exact same position about a year ago.....so I identify. Look forward to hearing more about you and your journey and wish you the best with the process and making the decision. I completely agree about your insight comment. Take-care...
