  1. Hi @rocketmas

As far as a compelling reason - I believe you'd have to ask her. When she and I spoke, we discussed the possibility of further recession and the idea that, given my age and the possibility of the need for further procedures, the frontal third should be addressed initially. I can appreciate your desire to knock it all out in one go and, in your case, it might be more appropriate. But, in my case, our strategy made the most sense. I think, with competing consults, the best source of knowledge is the treating doctors because it's my understanding that every case needs a specific approach.

It seems like Dr. Nadimi routinely recommends roughly 1500 grafts with her patients. We ended up moving about 1600 and I'm happy with where I'm at (although I have between 4 and 10 months before seeing the final result). I will most likely go back for a second procedure, but if your hair loss is stable, I could see going for a bigger session being a more efficient choice. I'm hardly an expert, but this is just my two cents.

You are doing great buddy. Look at you, such a transformation with just 1500 grafts is amazing. I am happy for you. By this time you might be started getting  2nd looks (I can relate :)  )

I am in the same boat and got my transplant from Dr Konior in Sept(couple of months behind). Met Dr Nadimi next day after my Surgery. Both Dr Konior and Dr Nadimi came to check on me during my 1st day post op cleaning. She is nice.

    Check out my thread below

Thanks for the support, Nick. Dr. Nadimi was great, I didn't get a chance to meet Dr. Konior. I took a look at your thread and it looks like great work. Months 4 through 6 had huge changes for me. I'll keep up to date on your progress. Happy growing!

  3. Not styled at all, but this is from today. Interestingly, my hair stylist noticed I had something done. I hadn't been into the shop to see her since before the procedure, i was going in days when she was off, since the procedure. She said it was the best she had ever seen and commented on how good it looked.

I'm also including a pre-op (previously posted) and a three month for comparison.

  4. No problem. To answer your questions (sort of) I know she was present for extraction and I believe she was there for all transplanting. I don't remember her ever not being there, but I was out cold for most of it. I think she just uses her judgement in terms of which hairs to use in the hairline (I think mostly - if not all - singles). Also, she mentioned my hair was coarse so that may have been why she distributed the hair like she did. I'm not sure if she sorts by diameter, but I'm really happy with the results at 6 months. I'm under the impression it's going to get better, but it's hard to imagine more improvement because I'm so happy with it up to this point.

  5. Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted. Work's been busy. Here are a few under pretty harsh lighting. Just took them about 5 minutes ago. Procedure was on July 20th, so this is about 5.5 months post op. I think I got a lot of early growth and certainly didn't expect it to fill out so quickly. In harsh lighting (with no styling) still looks a bit thin, but a hundred times better than it did the morning of the procedure. In normal day-to-day light or sunlight, it actually looks significantly better than it does in these pictures, but the hairline looks natural and if I get more growth over the course of the next 6 to 8 months, I'll consider the procedure a success. In fact, I already consider it a success, so any improvement (particularly with increased quality of the transplanted hairs that have already grown - which I believe happens around 8 to 10 months) would be a huge bonus. I didn't have a lot of time to take super high quality pictures, etc., but I think these show where I'm at. I'm really happy so far.

Anyway, I hope these pictures help and I hope everyone's holidays were merry and bright.

    Thanks.

  6. Hey guys,

today is about, what, 117 days post op? I think Tuesday is four months. Things are going well. I think there was some early growth at about 3 months, but it’s still early. Here’s a pre-op taken about a year ago and then one taken about 115 days post op. Lighting conditions are a little varied but, I think it shows the progress. In better light it looks much fuller, but I’m looking forward to seeing what months four through six bring. It’s definitely moving in a positive direction. No numbness or redness anymore. No post op issues whatsoever. This is also in conjunction with being on fin since May of this year.

  7. I understand Gas' input on topic and I can appreciate the fact that it's not his intention to dishearten me or cause me to questions my or my doctor's decisions - particularly because comments of that nature serve no real purpose at this point. Regardless, like I mentioned in my original post, my NW is high with the potential to go higher. I'm on fin and minox to try to stabilize loss. Because of the high NW potential, I want to make the most of my donor supply and not go too dense too quickly and I'm willing to be patient and work with my doctor to get it right.

I've seen her results, I trust her judgment with respect to density and I respect her judgment with respect to tailoring her decisions with respect to hairline conservativeness and design. Ultimately, I like the way it looks now and I'm excited to see how it grows in, but I know there's a long road ahead of me before I get an idea of the final result.

Regardless, what I was hoping this threat DID NOT turn into was a commentary on how the rest of the forum compares american doctors to turkish doctors. My decisions have all been made, the procedure is done, and I'm hoping for the best. This thread was created to document my experience and answer questions about my experience. That being said, while some information is available to me - # grafts, etc., certain info is not - whether doubles were bisected to create singles.

Like a few have mentioned - this is a first time HT for me, I'm nervous about everything from losing grafts to going to work and wondering if anyone is going to notice I had something done. I've done everything I can to comply with all of my doc's post-op recovery guidelines and I'm optimistic. As a result, I'm probably hypersensitive to criticism and negativity.

Regardless, given my case, I'm fully aware that this isn't a one-and-done procedure for me. My efforts towards being happy with my appearance are going to be the very definition of a journey. I only ask that posters on this thread respect and understand that before commenting.

    Thanks.
