I appreciate your insight. There are doctors that choose to sit and answer questions directly. But you are right, my basic foundation for what I want needs to be researched. This is definately a big business and warrants looking into the doctors mostly and their reputations as well as their licensing and "word of mouth" with other patients. Since I don't like medical procedures, you will be hearing my progress and what doctors I choose to research and eventually hire to help me with my hair.....any advice or news will be sincerely appreciated. I still consider myself novice. Since I live in los angeles, I know there are alot of doctors to choose from. I think I'm going to zero in on 10 and go from there..starting with some doctors my friends have consulted with.

Is it better to spend the time doing the research on my own as I am starting to do or is it better to learn "as you go" when talking to different facilities. I have started by calling a few hair restoration groups but am not able to speak to the doctor directly. Is this common?
  3. I am new to this website having joined in January 2011. I hate surgeries because you let go of control of your life and place it in the hands of someone els.... I guess I look at this the same and wonder will I be better off going through this kind of treatment or should I just forget it. Thats why Im here ... to give myself time to study the options and see whats right for me.
  4. I can see what you all are saying. But I am looking for a good doctor somewhere out here on the west coast and am willing to travel from southern california to oregon to find the best doctor. I see a lot of advertisements, ie Bosley (he comes to mind because of advertisements). But the one problem I have is the doctor (2 of them) I have visited send out a medical "representative" to talk to me. Why can't the doctor take the time to do that and answer my questions directly. I admit I haven't spent the quality time on this yet and have just gone to get some basic information thinking I would get it from the first. Not so! Can I get a recommendaton on a few doctors here in CA and OR that I can meet with the doctor directly? My goal: to have completed my hair restoration by December 31, 2011!!!!!
  5. I would also like to hear more about Dr. Sword in LA as I was also considering him!
  6. I am new to this treatment and need advice as to how to begin, how to select the best surgeon and exactly what does this treatment do, risks, life-long care, etc. I have spent some time looking at different options and came across this website over the holidays. Now I want to get serious, do my research. Any suggestions? I am open to going where I need to and would like to possibly interview either by phone direct meetings with the doctors. My only criteria is to actually meet with the doctor and see what the doctor is all about....Any thoughts?
  7. I am curious about medication allergies. For example, I am allergic to pencillin. Is that a problem for infections that may happen? What is the most prescribed medication to combat infections incurred by this type of surgery? Do I need to worry about this?
  8. Hey, that's one of the reasons I came to this site...was to see what was being said about doctors so I can choose the one I feel is the right one for me...I haven't seen a doctor yet, just doing my research and learning since this tends to be expensive..any thoughts for me?
