  1. Im against mega sessions over 4000 grafts. Its is because if anything went wrong in that particular surgery, then it would very hard to get fixed. Grafts are like dollars, using them all at once is a crazy gambling. No matter who your top surgeon is, Shit happens. Better do 3000 grafts at first and see how things goes then do the other 3000 grafts. There are many uncomfortable mega session patients in the forum but they stopped posting due to unknown reasons.

This is my only reason against being all for a one pass megasession. If something goes wrong, you would have used 6000 grafts that you can't get back. If you do 3000 and something goes wrong, you still have the other 3000 plus what else is left. If the first surgery goes wrong, they can figure out what went wrong and adjust for the second go.

  2. i wonder if all the hormones and stuff in the foods/meats we eat today could have any effect on men balding earlier...if that is in fact true that we bald earlier?

I would say that is a safe bet. It's been stated by Dr. Rassman that before WW2 when the Japanese hadn't adopted some of our Western dieting habits that balding was very rare there. After WW2 and having our troops teach them our eating habits, balding in men became much more common. Also, we have a LOT more processed meats and hormone laden meat and milk than we did back then.

  3. The trichophytic closure does not reduce any graft totals, whether it be first, second of fifth procedure. All the trichophytic closure means is that they chamfer the edge of the incision so that hairs can grow through it, instead of a straightforward incision where hairs will grow on either side of the incision.

The trichophytic closure is the best thing to come to the donor area.

  4. I'm with Spex. I'd go for 3000-3500. It's going to cost you at least twice what strip surgery costs, and it will take more time to perform. Keep in mind though that if you hammer your donor area with a large FUE session then it makes for smaller strip surgery harvests. Most people who need a lot of hair max out their strip procedures first, then get whatever else they can by FUE.

  5. While David is correct about the mature hairline, keep an eye on it. It's not a very good picture to telling you if you are receeding or not, so I'm not going to offer an opinion just to be fair to you :). Some people get a more pronounced V shape than others. If you wouldn't mind uploading one or two larger pics with your hair pulled back then you might get more opinions. That being said, if you find that you are receeding, you are a prime candidate for Finasteride and Minoxidil drug therapy!

  6. Thanks so much for responding, Dr. Simmons! After I responded to your post this morning I found the ISHRS transcript from Anchorage online. I must say that hair transplant surgeons are always looking for ways to further the success of hair transplantation! Thank you and all surgeons approved by this site, for always looking for improvements!!

  7. This is an excellent result Dr. Simmons! I know he has to be elated with the results. BTW, I don't believe I've ever seen that many 3's, but like you said people with finer hair usually make up for it with more 3-4 hair FU's.

Can you elaborate on this scoring-blunt donor dissection a little bit? This is the first I've heard this method mentioned.
