  1. I've tried a few. Bonacure made things worse, Nizoral had side effects after a while, but I liked both ProFusion (which you might not get in the 'States) or American Crew Revitaise.
  2. David is definitely right, persist with the minoxidil which should stabiise the hair loss and also use a hair loss shampoo such as profusion or nisim. Don't be scared of finasteride, just be aware that it isn't for everyone and if you get the side effects then stop using it, but I have known people take it for years with either no side effects or minor side effects. Finasteride does have the propensity to make your hair grow again, but be quick before the roots stop being viable.
  3. Some shampoos are actually pretty good at preventing the hair loss process, I've started using ProFusion and my hair has got no worse since I started using it. Previously I used American Crew which also worked for a while, but I also tried a couple of others which didn't work for me. I've also heard of people using nioxin, but also heard that this can be harsh on your scalp. I think a lot of people think because a shampoo or hair loss treatment doesn't work for them then it is useless, but in reality you have to try a few to see which one works for you. Think about it like a doctor prescribing tablets. If there was one best treatment for blood pressure then no doctor would prescribe any other. In fact there are probably hundreds of tablets for blood pressure and your doctor tries different ones to see what works best for you. The same is true of hair loss products.
  4. The Irish actor, James Nesbitt looks like he has recently had some excellent work done.
  5. I was reading another blog which suggested that PRP therapy looked very promising but results have been inconsistent, please see http://www.prohairbiosystems.com/blog/science/platelet-rich-plasma-for-hair-loss I was just wondering whether anyone had tried PRP therapy and what the long term results had been. I really like the idea of PRP because it is using your body's own biochemistry, therefore any sort of adverse reaction is unlikely...but does it work?
  6. Dandruff is an awful condition although no-one ever died of it, it caused by fungus-like bug. I used all sorts of products with no success whatever but I found two which are excellent. The first is ProFusion shampoo for dry hair, which I was using to slow my hair loss so the anti dandruff action was a real bonus and the other one was Bonacure Dandruff lotion recommended by somebody on this site, which is made by Schwartzkopf. You put this lotion on after you have washed your hair and leave it (i.e. don't rinse it out) and that really worked well. But I'm now using ProFusion every day, so I no longer need the Bonacure.
