  1. Ireland!

Thanks for reminding me to update this!!! I will certainly post some pics.

Well to start I have not had any shedding in the shower when I wash my hair, which is great!! I have alot of new tiny white hairs sprouting through. The only downside is I think I am breaking out again with acne from the Finasteride. It's hard to really pin point what is causing these outbreaks but since I have been on Fin it's started again and got worse.

I am still taking 5mg a day with 0 sexual side effects or brain fog. Thinking I may drop down to 1.25 mg and see if that helps with the acne repression. However the new hairs that have been sprouting get my excited, at least this is helping slowing down the recession until I can afford a hairtransplant!!

    What is your current regime?

  2. Hey guys! Thanks

I did get on Monodox and and a benzoyl peroixde cream and acid face mask from the dematologist and it certainly helped clear everything up.

I have now been taking 1.25mg every other day and have not noticed an increase of breakouts.

I've also started using the generic Minoxidil foam! Love it! No more greasy runny mess and it drys so quickly!

  3. After several months being off of FInasteride I have decided to retry it :) I came off of it because of the outbreak of cystic acne I thought was linked to it.

Will keep you all posted with some pictures and updates (hopefully onlt regarding hair, and no outbreaks!!)

  4. Ok I have been back on Fin for the last week after being off it for a while. I am looking forward to the results!!

For those of you who don't know I came off of it because I thought I was having a Cystic acne breakout because of it/ However now that my face has healed and cleared up I am going to attempt it again, and hopefully won't have the breakout again! Will post some pictures soon!

  5. I agree for extensive loss it's not the best however for the option of me being able to shave my head it is a good choice compared to strip.

My hair loss is not too extenisve...yet.

Luckily my grandfather and dad have a full set of hair, my mum's dad is a NW6 though. I will be saving up over the next 2 years hoepfully and will asses my loss then.

I have scheduled an appointment to Dr Harris to get his opinion on what would be best for my hair loss stratergy.

  6. @scar5-

Very true regarding the not getting the best fo both worlds. I think that my decision has been made to save up for FUE!

Haha I wish I was ok with a hair piece, the main problem is that starting out as an actor it doesn't help. They're willing to use them on big stars but when it comes to an unknown they want to take you for who you are right now. So if I get my FUE in a couple of years, then I can see if it will help for my career.

Recently got cast for a TV pilot, but I know it would benefit my character to have a full head of hair, as I will have to have my hair styled to cover up temple recession.

  7. I'm brand new at this. A neighbor suggested I try to get information on what to do regarding my hair loss on top of my head. Being female, this is embarrassing and am willing to try things but don't want it to get too expensive. What do you all suggest I start with? I'm 60 years old and in fairly good shape.

Deadhair7- you came to the right place for some adivce. I highly recommend speaking to your GP first regardig your hair loss, it may be something because of diet or mal nutrition or even stress.

If they can't find any reason I would then suggest speaking to a recommend hair doc on here.

You can always try the female 2% minoxidil that is formulated for women. But make sure you understand that there will be a shed period and will for a few months make your hair loss look worse. However if you stick with it, the hair will grow back and hopefully bring a few little friends with them!

  8. Yep what taking the plunge said.

the best thing to do would be to consult with a recommended hair doctor, but I would certainly start on Minoxidil and, in my opinion, Finasteride.

This will help slow down your current loss and maintain what you have currently. I know it can be daunting thinking about the side effects and it did take me over 2 years to come to the decision to try Fin.

It's really a personal choice on how you feel about taking the gamble. It has honestly helped with my temple recession and even begun to grow some hairs back.

I am now back on 1.25mg a day. My skin had a stage outbreak but I have been taking medication and applying a Benzol peroixide cream to prevent any further breakouts and reduce any scarring.

Will upload some new photos of my hairline next week :)

  9. Wow Spex that's a fantastic cover!!

I am trying to work out my best options for being an actor. If I get a strip I will have a higher yeild for grafts comapred to FUE. However if I was to get FUE I would have the option to shave my head to a 1 if I required it and not have to worry about the scar showing...hmmm I think I have made my decision on saving for FUE. Although your result looks amazing!

Thanks for everyone who's submitted their thoughts and comments.

I was worried about blood flow and growth into a scar too.
