  1. You cannot go wrong with Dr. Hasson. He is an excellent hair transplant surgeon. If you already have a scar in donor area and have no plans on shaving head. FUT has some real benefits over FUE in some cases. It does not thin out the entire donor area like FUE can. You do not have to shave down donor area to do procedure making it easier to camouflage post operatively. Also in my opinion it has a 5-10% higher survival rate.

  2. This 41 year old patient came to see me with concerns of a receding hairline and balding in the crown region.

As the patient would like to retain the ability to keep his hair short, we agreed the FUE method was best for him and successfully transplanted 2208 grafts to both areas of concern. I also recommended he begin taking Finasteride and using low level laser light to prevent further loss to the crown and mid-scalp.

Patient returned to clinic 1 year after the procedure and is very pleased with results. At his one year follow up patient said “ I feel like a new person”. This is exactly what a hair restoration surgeon wants to hear. Patient may consider a second procedure in the future to add density to the crown.

  3. The hair loss obviously concerns you because you are considering a HT and are on this forum. I agree its generally more important when your young and if you had a HT to strengthen the hairline/frontal area and eventually ran out of donor supply you would have a few options. They include leaving a spot in back uncovered which is not uncommon, wearing a hair system , BHT , SMP. or a combination BHT/SMP.

  4. Unfortunately no doctor has a crystal ball and can predict how much hair loss a patient will have in the future. But the general rule is that it will continue with time especially and those experiencing hair loss at a young age. We do try to look at family history of MPB but it is a combination of both parents genetics so accurately predicting future hair loss is difficult if not impossible. So I think it is wise to create a game plan the has worst case scenario in the equation even though we would all be hoping that doesn't happen. I do agree that you should consider preventative measures that your body can tolerate which may slow down or stop the progression of your hair loss. . But if you proceed with HT you should know there is a good chance you will want additional procedures in the future.

  5. I agree that you just need to wait till you have your results before deciding if a second procedure is desired.  No matter how close the grafts are placed next to each other in the procedure when everything is grown in there will be spaces available to add more grafts and improving density. Often more than one procedure is needed to get the desired density.
