  1. NoBuzz, The highlighting procedure involves pulling small strands of hair through a plastic cap with holes. Bleach is then applied and when the hair has lightened to the desired shade, the bleach is washed off and a toner is applied and left on for several minutes before washing. An alternative is to bleach the hair completely and then use hair color to achieve the desired result. The bonus in all of this is that the bleaching swells the hair shaft, which provides extra bulk. Hope this helps, if you need specific product names, I can obtain these. Thanks for the feedback. Bayer
  2. 7 month update and pictures have been posted. Feedback is welcome.
  3. Tavia, Fees should not be worrying you, but rather is this the right thing? Feel free to PM me on the "fees" thing, as a Canadian with knowledge of the Canadian system as well as tax implications I can provide assistance. Sounds very radical. Please post pics to let us see what is going on. Bayer
  4. Hi Don, I had a lot of donor area shock loss. I am now at month 4.5 post op and this has come back nicely. I am a little concerned about the "cracking" you describe in the recipient area. Make sure that you have moisture in this area - this should encourage the scabs to fall off and promote healing. To Bill's point, this is a bit of a long road but should be worth it. Hang in! Bayer
  5. Hi Ralph, As others have said, uneven growth is normal. I am experiencing the same thing as Balody did, left has some catching up to do in order to even up with the right. Time should take care of this. Bayer
  6. I can only reiterate what others have said - meds only at this point. Bayer
  7. Thanks for the comments guys. Per the suggestions of NN and Hairbank, I'll try to get other pics up as soon as I have a chance. Bayer
  8. 4 month update and pictures have been posted. Feedback is welcome. Bayer
  9. Eman, Not boring at all. My GP is a wanker who won't write a Proscar scrip for me either. Several forum members suggested that I go the derm route. Your experience confirms this. Thanks Bayer
  10. Consistent (nightly) applications of a warm, damp facecloth helps to bring the pimples down. Bayer
  11. Hi Miles, Not to worry. I had two small HT's with Bosley (400 in 1995 and 488 in 2000) and had fairly extensive shock loss from my HT (for more density) on January 30, 2007. I can confirm NN wise words - it does come back! The next while might be tough. When you have existing hair and are going for density, the "step back" for the first while can be a real jolt. Hang in, this will turn around. If you want, take a look at my pics in the Album section. I will be posting my 4 month pics in the next couple of days, and things are on the upswing. Keep the faith Bayer
  12. Congrats Nelly, You've done your research and made a great choice - your results will reflect that. Bayer
  13. jr, You can always use a snorkel. Moist warm heat will do the trick! Bayer
  14. Crazy Baldhead, Welcome to the forums. I'll save you the trouble of looking for the bandanna post - it was mine. Bear in mind that there are no hard and fast rules regarding the inspection of headwear, but the snugger fit allows for a lesser hiding space, thereby reducing the need for inspection. The most important thing is to check with your doctor if he is OK with this type of headwear so soon post op. With regards to flying the day after, I would not foresee this being a problem. H & W will see you the morning after to ensure that all is in order and you should be fine for travelling barring any unforeseen circumstances. Best of luck. Many posters have great results with H & W and I believe that you have made a very good choice. Bayer
  15. I would vote for shaving down based on my experience. I had a lot of work done in in an area having a "fair bit" of native hair and had extensive shock loss. I was not advised of shaving being an option, if there was a chance to lessen the shock loss, I would have done it in a second. Bayer
  16. I'll weigh in on the side of the old style as well. The new method also does not place my pictures in the order that I have them numbered. This is a setback when trying to present items in a timeline manner. Bayer
  17. Bill, Great pic. Something we all strive for - a full head of hair when someone points and clicks. Smokin' tie! Very stylish! Is it a coincidence that you are posting this picture and Hairbank is strutting HT #3? This is a conspiracy that is causing a serious surge of HAIRGREED! Bayer
  18. Hi Tisab, Can't see any problem carrying minox or finasteride cross border. I am on finasteride and have carried it on vacations to 3 continents without a problem. Bayer
  19. This is a scary thing that has popped up from years gone by. Stay clear, this is a total disaster. Bayer
  20. This makes perfect sense. Bill is utilizing his clones as cheap labour for the plantation!
  21. Congrats Hairbank. Seeing all those hairy bastards walking around does have a cumulative effect. Looking forward to following your story! Bayer
  22. I'm finding the same as YoungGuy - more and more hair gradually. My hair is filling in and I can't see the new hairs at short length through the existing hair, but if I run my fingertips acrss the area, I can feel short, bristly stubble. Bayer
  23. I always noticed that any guy with a hat got checked. I wore a bandanna and wasn't checked. Might be a coincidence, but something that conforms to the shape of your head may be seen in a different light. Bayer
  24. Pain this far along does seem a bit unusual. As far as redness is concerned, you might try aloe vera gel and a high aloe vera content shampoo. This might also help with the itching. If not, I have used a topical corticosteroid (Valisone)which really seemed to calm the itching. Bayer
