Yeah, more DUPA than retrograde. How old are you?

The bad news is that you have some cobblestoning going on from errant implantation. The good news is that it does eventually settle down, but over the course of a couple years. You could also disguise it with another transplant in the area, obviously one done with correct implantation techniques.

3,500 grafts will not be able to hide under a hat, even beyond a month. Maybe just tell your roommates... 🤷♂️

Are you getting a small 1,000 graft procedure or a 3-4,000 graft mega-session? Are you shaving the donor and recipient? That all makes a difference in how conspicuous one will be post-op.

If within the US/Canada wouldn't even consider a clinic other than Hasson/Wong and FUT.
Also for the record, at least on available photos I see a fairly clear NW5, not a NW6.
Totally agree with the H&W nudge. And paraphrasing the words of Dr. K, "If you're a NW5 now, you'll be NW6 later." At the end of the day it doesn't matter what NW classification is given. You have an advanced pattern and will "need" a FUT megasession regardless.

For me to consider the remote possibility that laser caps are effective I would need to see a controlled study with participants who don't take any other hair loss treatments. Also, would need to see pics... all we get is a random poster here or there that says they work with no photographic evidence.

I'm wondering if you are on meds? And do you think your native hair might have thinned since the HT?

Be patient, avoid impulsive decisions. Where do you live?

Yes, deep dish pizza is the best! Giordano's, Lou Malnati's, Pequod's.... they're all good!
@JWard Looks like you could have your frontal third and hairline revisited as well as your crown. I love what Dr. Konior did for my crown with only 700 grafts so I'd recommend him for that, but of course he could take care of your front too. The question is FUT or FUE for you, and it might just boil down to your preference. Consult with doctors who are equally equipped for both FUT & FUE; e.g. H&W, SMG, Konior, etc.

Ironically the blood rush to the scalp might have actually improved graft survival.
Hmmm, gonna make myself throw up after my next procedure just to check.

I know you don't have MPB now, but most 19 year olds don't... Keep an eye on things, not just the hairline. You may experience balding a few years down the road, which is why ethical docs wouldn't transplant on you right now.

No one would be able to tell that's a HT. 👌

Good for you that you're on fin. It won't turn you into a NW3 but it should stabilize the loss. Looks like you have healthy donor hair, so you're probably a good candidate for a HT. Now take your time to do your due diligence in research and consult with elite docs.

I will say that I've had good growth not only in my 2nd procedure but all the way through to my 7th. Scar tissue isn't an issue for skilled surgeon.

Yes, I knew he was but went for a cheaper alternative, worst decision ever. Would gladly go back and pay double what he was asking now, but that's hindsight.. I'm meeting with Shapiro next month to discuss this procedure and discuss options for a 2nd round. Unfortunately, the older Shapiro (that wrote the book) is retiring from what I've heard, but his brother is still working there. I may try to pull him out of retirement though lol.
Dr. Paul Shapiro has retired from surgery. Dr. Ron still practices.

Did you not know that Dr. Shapiro, one of the world's best, was already in your backyard before this procedure? Such a shame this happened. I ended up going to SMG after my first crappy procedure as well, but surgically it appears yours was worse.

How do you come to that conclusion if if he hasnt posted any rearside pics??
Yeah, everything he has on top will be gone soon. The pattern is evident even without knowing how low his lateral humps and crown will go.

I think a NW6 is an accurate assessment, and I agree with everyone above who suggests FUT then FUE. If you are a high norwood you need to do whatever you can to maximize grafts. FUT + FUE = Max grafts

I drove 7 hours to Minneapolis to go to Shapiro Medical Group, and then 15 hours for Dr. Konior last summer. Do what you need to do to go to the best.

Well, you're only a month out. Things will be changing in a couple months. When that does eventually happen, be open to longer styles to make the most of the transplanted hair - ideally styles take would make use of a shingling effect.

You're safe to buzz them at 4 weeks. The question is whether you plan on doing that longterm as you'll need a certain length to achieve the illusion of density with the transplanted hairs.

This interview reminded me so much of my consultations with Dr. K, as he always uses the most fitting analogies to help us laymen understand and visualize the complexities of hair transplantation. Fascinating stuff! And I'm honored to have received a shout out. ☺️

Ask him if he ever sleeps, or better yet, where his work ethic comes from. His surgeries sometimes go late in the evenings and then he's responding to emails at 4am! 😮

It's been public knowledge for some time that Joe Buck has had multiple HT's. I've always thought his hairline looked way too straight on TV, but it looks surprisingly sparse up front in this pre-op vid. He must have been caking on the concealer for the cameras. Hope it turns out well for him this time, sounds like he's been through the ringer.
